After conventional drilling and tapping in thin-walled materials, the strength remains low due to the small number of teeth and the connection can be easily unfastened. For increasing the strength there are several solutions such as using welded nuts, tapped rivets and welding extra nuts. Since nut welding cannot be done on the inner surfaces, these solutions are inadequate for square and circular tubes. In this study, holes of various diameters were drilled on 1.5 mm thick AISI 304 stainless steel and EN AW-6060 square and circular profiles by flow drilling at various rotational speeds, and then flow tapping was applied to the holes. The same processes were repeated with conventional drilling method to compare bushing heights and clamping strengths of the parts as well as the hardness values and capillary crack formations around the holes. According to the results obtained, the strength in flow drilling and tapping increases by 50-55% compared to the classical drilling method. The reason for this is that as the hole diameter increases, the amount of material plastered and the number of threads required for screwing increases approximately 2.5-3 times. Capillary cracks, which are observed in holes drilled with the traditional method as the hole diameter increases, are not observed with this method and thus increasing the strength of the connection.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"102 11‐12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141007072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The PID controller, revered for its classical design and wide industrial adoption, forms the cornerstone of feedback control systems. To exemplify the utility of the proposed algorithms, two distinct trajectory scenarios are employed as target trajectories. Rigorous numerical evaluations, accompanied by graphical analyses, showcase the prowess of these algorithms in steering the trajectory tracking process. The study unfolds novel contributions, rendering an unprecedented application of these optimizers in the PID controller realm while offering a comprehensive scrutiny of their performances.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"155 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140457992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, it influences the engine's performance and emissions, as well as its heat transfer. The intake air motion regulates the main phases of the flow in the cylinder, which is characterized by swirl, squish, and turbulence. Inducing swirl and tumble in the intake process provides high turbulence levels at ignition, resulting in more effective flame speeds and better combustion for lean air-fuel ratios or with EGR. This high turbulence also allows the flame front to reach the end gas before the chemical reactions start, leading to auto-ignition for usual air-fuel ratios. Additionally, it enables higher compression ratios without engine knocking. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software is used to enhance in-cylinder flow characteristics, and in this study, cold flow simulation of a naturally aspirated, direct injection diesel engine was conducted using AVL Fire M. Swirl, tumble, and TKE parameters were investigated to make a detailed analysis of the in-cylinder flow for the relevant engine.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"212 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140459638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This steel is a material with hightoughness. Its usage areas are very wide. Parts such as automobile and engine parts, axle sleeve, front axle,steeringshaft, crankshaft, bolts, nuts and joints can be given as examples of usage areas. It is also a suitable material for surfacehardening processes. The purpose of the surface hardening process is to increase the wear resistance of the surfacesexposed to wear, as well as to increase the fatigue life of the part and increase the corrosion resistance. Since the innerparts of the parts are not affected by surface hardening, the resistance against impacts is increased and thus crackformation on the surface is delayed. In this study, carbon fiber rein-forced polymer (CFRP) [0°/0°], [0°/90°], [±45°] and [0°/90°/+45°/-45°/-45°/+45°/90°/0°] four different types of orientation CFR materials were used.Tensile and three-point bending tests were performed on the samples produced with 4 differ-ent orientation angles. Three-point bending tests were carried out in accordance with ASTM D7264 standards and tensile tests were carried out in accordance with ASTM D 3039 standards. Stress-strain and force-strain curves were drawn. It has been ob-served that the material type that withstands the maximum force the most is the C48 structured CFRP material with an 8-layer [0°/90°/+45°/-45°]s arrangement. Together with this developing technology, CACC systems use vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication to automatically transmit the movement information of vehicles. In this context, ACC systems use Radar or LIDAR measurements while CACC systems also consider the acceleration of the preceding vehicle. In this paper, the forms of information transmission between vehicles in autonomous vehicle convoys using CACC systems have been examined. From these forms of information transmission, the leader following, the predecessor follow-ing and the leader – predecessor following topologies have been considered. For each topology, an autonomous vehicle convoy consisting of eight vehicles was modeled in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. The feedforward and the feedback control system structure were given for CACC and ACC systems. For different communication topologies, the position-time, the speed-time, the acceleration-time and the headway time-time results were obtained. The maximum intervehicle distance error plots for each vehicle in different topology convoys were given to analyze the dynamic behavior of the convoys. The results have been analyzed in terms of the maximum intervehicle distance, the maximum speed, the minimum and the maximum acceleration, and the maximum headway time deviation from the desired headway time.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"31 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140508944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
