Many industries, such as automotive, aerospace and defense, utilize the benefits of these structures due to their high specific strength, outstanding noise and vibration damping abilities, thermal shielding, and superior specific energy absorption capacities. \u0000 This study aims to reveal energy absorbing behavior and deformation mechanisms under compression load of gyroid and diamond cell based triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures manufactured by powder bed fusion (PBF) technology. The TPMS lattice structures fabricated using AlSi10Mg material were designed in different relative densities according to cell wall thickness and cell number. Crushing behaviors of these structures were numerically investigated with a commercial Ls-Dyna finite elements (FE) software. The numerical results were obtained in a good agreement with the experimental data. The FE analysis facilitated understanding of the deformation damage mechanisms and stress distribution on the cell surfaces of the TPMS lattice structures designed with different relative densities. The findings of the study demonstrated that peak stress values computed during crushing of the TPMS lattice structures went up significantly with increasing relative density. In addition, specific energy absorption capacity of the diamond cell based TPMS lattice structures obtained 50% more than that of the gyroid cell based TPMS lattice structures with close relative densities.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"26 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138984504","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, the use of semiconductor ZrO2 nanoparticles in the photocatalytic degradation of pollutants in wastewater under UV light was investigated. Zeta potential, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy analyses were performed on the ZrO2 nanoparticle synthesized under optimized experimental conditions. ZrO2 nanoparticles synthesized under the optimized experimental conditions exhibited a high specific surface area (51.793 m2/g). ZrO2 nanoparticles had strong absorption in the visible light region, and the energy band gap was estimated to be approximately 3.062 eV. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by the degradation of methylene blue under UV light (366 nm). The effects of parameters such as the amount of catalyst, concentration and pH of the dye solution, the wavelength of the UV light source used (366 and 254 nm) and the type of test environment on the removal efficiency of methylene blue were investigated. ZrO2 nanoparticles showed a high degradation efficiency of 91% in a strong alkaline environment, which may be the result of the facilitated formation of –OH radicals due to the increased concentration of hydroxyl ions.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"38 10","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135873101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These studies show that the reuse of industrial waste can help to reduce the environmental impact. The development of environmentally friendly and cost-effective composites for use in a variety of engineering applications is the need of the century. The use of industrial waste in composite production is a possible solution for both problems. In this study, the potential use of talc, quartz and ceramic waste FFC fracture as a friction modifier in brake friction materials and its performance properties in accordance with industry requirements were investigated. The tribological, physical and mechanical properties of the brake pads were measured, and the friction surface morphology was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. According to the results obtained, the highest specific wear rate was observed in the FM3 sample. The FM2 sample with the highest hardness and average friction coefficient showed the lowest wear. FM4, FM5 and FM6 samples with high talc and quartz content exhibited low coefficient of friction characteristics compared to other samples.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"38 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135873102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, four types of core geome-tries including cylindrical, hexagonal, square, and triangular were investigated. Sandwich structures were fabricated using Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) 3D printing method using polylactic acid (PLA) and carbon fiber reinforced polylactic acid (CF-PLA). The ma-terial properties of PLA and CF-PLA were determined via tensile test. Three-point bending tests were performed to achieve the energy absorption performance of sandwich struc-tures. The findings of the bending test show that the core topology has a substantial im-pact on sandwich constructions' capacity to absorb energy. Additionally, it has been ob-served that the use of different materials affects the energy absorption capacity of sand-wich structures.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"7 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134906896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, it is aimed to en-hance the system efficiency of the PEM fuel cell and provide fuel economy. To achieve this goal, the hybrid energy system with a PEM fuel cell and battery pack is controlled with two different strategies. The first control strategy is designed using Fuzzy Logic (FL), while the other control strategy is designed with the classical on-off method with the 'Relay' block. Power output of the fuel cell is determined depending on the change in the charging state of the battery pack and the power consumed by the electric vehicle in this study. The aim is to provide that the fuel cell operates in a high-efficiency range and can generate enough power when needed. Vehicle and fuel cell modeling were per-formed in Matlab/Simulink environment. NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) and WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) driving cycles were considered and fuel cell efficiency and hydrogen consumption were compared at dif-ferent state of charge values of the battery. The analyses were carried out over long dis-tances by repeating the driving cycles. It was observed that fuzzy logic control provid-ed 11.6% less fuel consumption than classic on-off control in NEDC and WLTP driving cycles repeated five times. The values obtained as a result of the study showed that fuzzy logic control is more advantageous to increase the energy efficiency of fuel cells.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135514382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, 10% filtered waste frying oil was added to the diesel fuel. Afterwards, the test fuels were formed by adding 5%, 10% and 20% volumes of Di Ethylene Butyl Glycol Ether to this mixture. The obtained fuel mixtures were run in a diesel engine at a con-stant engine speed of 3000 rpm at 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% engine loads, and the changes in engine fuel consumption, exhaust gas temperature and ego emissions were investigated. The results showed that all the goose emissions increased with the direct use of waste oil, but the exhaust emissions decreased with the addition of Di Ethylene Butyl Glycol Ether. With the addition of Di Ethylene Butyl Glycol Ether, the viscosity and density values decreased and the heating value in-creased. The best fuel mixture was obtained with DAGD20 mixture with 20% Di Ethylene Butyl Glycol Ether added. In this fuel mixture, BSFC decreased, Ex-haust Gas Temperature increased, NOx increased, CO increased, CO2 decreased, HC increased, and smoke decreased.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134945856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Subsequently, the impact of the designed cam profiles on vi-bration and noise emissions in conventional diesel combustion was examined. The effects of the cam profiles obtained using the circular spring curve method and fitted with Fourier series on the tappet's speed, acceleration, and leap were examined, and then the cam pro-files to be manufactured were determined. Experimental tests were conducted on vibra-tion and noise emissions using the manufactured cam profiles with pure diesel fuel at five different engine loads and a constant engine speed. When the results are examined, in-creasing the valve lift amount compared to the original cam resulted in an approximate 24% increase in vibration level, while decreasing the valve lift amount reduced the vibra-tion level by approximately 20%. the effect of cam profile modification on average noise emissions was quite evident.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135900482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

 For the exploration of the scarcely addressed topic of agility at portfolio level, current journals were mainly consulted. Further, for the theoretical exposition of project portfolio management, current journals and textbooks about business strategies and project management were used as well as journals for information about portfolio management.
 As a result of this paper, it was found that the difference of agile delivery to the traditional organization is the focus on small work packages instead of detailed long -term planning. When focusing on smaller work packages, portfolio planning becomes more iterative and bottom-up ideas have a higher impact on program level.
 For other industries then automotive manufacturers, other company sizes, or even other automotive manufacturers, which are built from the ground up to be more agile, the findings of this paper are not relevant.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136272372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the study is to develop an optimal design that reduces vehicle weight by finding the optimal material distribution for the brake pedal. The weight reduction process was carried out in two steps. In the first step, static analyses were performed on the starting brake pedal model. Later, topology optimization was performed for weight reduction pur-poses. After the topology optimization, new brake pedal design was created and weight reduction was performed. In the second step, shape optimization was per-formed using a genetic algorithm to obtain the optimal dimensions of the brake pedal. According to the optimization results, the weight of the design was reduced from 437 grams (g) to 326 grams (g) by topology optimization in the first step. So the new de-sign is 25.4% lighter compared to the first design. Later, as a result of shape optimiza-tion performed using a genetic algorithm, the weight was reduced from 326 g to 298 g and the optimal dimensions of the brake pedal were determined. Thus, with shape op-timization, a lighter brake pedal design of about 8.5% was achieved compared to to-pology optimization. As a result, the weight has been reduced from 437 g to 298 g, and the weight of the ideal brake pedal model is 31.8% lighter compared to the main model.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136272375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thanks to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), no doubt that the future driving experience will be safer than today. De-spite the emergence of new trends, road accidents caused by aggressive driving are still a major problem in many countries. This study presents an edge AI-assisted ag-gressive driver monitoring system based on Internet of Vehicles (IoV) model. In the proposed system, the kNN algorithm and dynamic time warping method are used to recognize the signal patterns of aggressive drivers. The hardware platform is built on the RP2040 microcontroller-based Raspberry Pi Pico board and the Waveshare Quad Expander used for sensor extensions. The MPU-9250 9-axis motion tracking sensor is used as an inertial measurement unit (IMU) to identify the patterns of driv-ers who did sudden lane changes, heavy acceleration, and harsh braking on the roads. Besides, the required software is created using the MicroPython scripting language via Thonny IDE. The proposed method is tested on public transport vehi-cles to determine the drivers engaging in dangerous driving behavior for passengers. The obtained results show that the proposed method can provide satisfactory success to support for recognizing the aggressive behavior of drivers.","PeriodicalId":474498,"journal":{"name":"International journal of automotive science and technology","volume":"153 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
