Utilizing the Quantile Vector Autoregressive (QVAR) connectivity approach, our methodology starts with the median quantile and systematically expands to various quantiles. This systematic progression allows us to comprehensively examine the temporal risk characteristics and interconnections across specific quantiles, enhancing our understanding through frequency domain analysis. Our findings reveal significant changes in the total connectedness index (TCI) and the roles of individual indices as either net transmitters or receivers of shocks during different crises. Particularly noteworthy is the resilience demonstrated by indices such as JTOPI, BVSP, TASI, and RTSI against risk transmission amidst the pandemic. Conversely, during the Russia-Ukraine conflict, BSE30, JTOPI, and ADX exhibited varying level of resilience. These insights underscore the sensitivity of financial markets to geopolitical events and highlight the importance of tailored risk management and investment strategies. The implications of our study are crucial for financial entities and policymakers aiming to optimize frameworks for market stability and risk mitigation in the face of global crises.
","PeriodicalId":47435,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Knowledge Economy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2024-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141611514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accordingly, this research aimed to model drivers of sustainable competitive advantage (SCA) through knowledge-oriented leadership (KNOL) with mediation of knowledge management capabilities (KNMC) in the higher education system. This research has been implemented via correlation method across the population of faculty members of the university with 177 subjects based on stratified random sampling. The research instruments included three questionnaires of sustainable competitive advantage (SCA), knowledge-oriented leadership (KNOL), and knowledge management capabilities (KNMC). The reliability and validity of all three instruments, according to the research findings, were reported as suitable. In the analysis method, SmartPLS software was used involving structural equation modeling. The results indicated that knowledge-oriented leadership (KNOL) both directly and indirectly has been effective on reputation and legitimacy from competitive advantage through structural and process capabilities of knowledge management. Meanwhile, knowledge-oriented leadership (KNOL) has been effective on the process and structural capabilities of knowledge management. Furthermore, structural and process capabilities of knowledge management affected the reputation and legitimacy from competitive advantage. Also, reputation has been effective on legitimacy of competitive advantage. It can be stated that KNOL using transformational and transactional leadership style exerts a constructive role in the reputation and legitimacy in the higher education system. Meanwhile, the structural and process capabilities of the knowledge management are affected by the styles of knowledge-oriented leaders. Also, KNOL by employing structural and process capabilities of knowledge management influences acquisition of SCA. Also, the relationship between reputation and legitimacy as instruments of SCA is of interest in the educational system.
","PeriodicalId":47435,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Knowledge Economy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2024-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141611466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study applies GMM by using a panel of 161 Climate Action 100 + companies from 34 countries encompassing 2015 to 2021. Our analysis shows that firms’ environmental performance positively contributes to financial performance, and results are robust to the alternative measures. The results show that competitive advantage mediates the relationship between environmental performance and financial performance. Similarly, voluntary environmental regulation adoption contextually and environmental management positively moderate the relationship and reduce the negative impact of pollution on financial performance. We conclude that firms should move from Friedman’s profit maximization philosophy towards Hart’s natural-resource-based view of pollution prevention and product stewardship for securing sustainable financial performance. The first goal of this study is to investigate the variables that impact and facilitate the adoption of DT Specifically, mentorship has a direct influence on the adoption of DT while innovation behavior and mindfulness have mediating effects. According to the conservation of resources (COR) theory, restaurant employees, who are emotional laborers, will face challenges to adopting innovative behavior when they experience resource depletion (whether emotional, cognitive, or physical) which may hamper the adoption of DT. The second aim is to explore the mediating role of standardization on the relationship between innovative behavior and the intention of digital transformation (IDT). This study employs a quantitative research design and structural equation modeling (SEM) to investigate chain restaurants belonging to the Wowprime Corp Group. The variables that impact personal innovative conduct and ultimately impact digital transformation for chain eateries are also examined. The results suggest that mentorship has a direct impact on the intention to engage in DT and can influence it through the promotion of innovative behavior. In other words, the configuration of DT should commence with the most fundamental mentorship unit. The paper also includes a discussion of the theoretical contributions and managerial implications, suggestions for future research, and practical recommendations for chain restaurant operators.
","PeriodicalId":47435,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Knowledge Economy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2024-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141611469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve sustained economic transformation, economies around the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) urgently need to adapt to sustainable development practices to reduce the risk of experiencing bad economic outlooks. However, the gap in the existing literature is the relationship between women in politics, income inequality, and the well-being of people, which has not received sufficient attention thus far. To fill this gap, this study aims to assess how income inequality and women in politics affect the social and economic well-being of OECD countries. This study adopts a panel dataset from 2000 to 2020 in a panel regression model and performs a fixed-effects analysis of the relationship among these factors. Interestingly, we show no significant association between women in politics and human development. In contrast, we confirm a positive and significant relationship between women in politics and gross national savings as well as renewable energy supply. Moreover, we confirm the key role of income and poverty levels in triggering social and economic well-being, as it shows a significant and negative relationship in all of our models. These original findings have several practical implications for policymakers and contribute to the current debate on the role of women in politics and income inequality across OECD countries.
","PeriodicalId":47435,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Knowledge Economy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2024-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141611512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While some studies have assessed ESP changes in various countries over 20 years to identify progress or decline, their methods may not accurately reflect long-term ESP trends. Furthermore, the Malmquist productivity index (MPI), commonly used for calculating intertemporal performances and efficiencies, lacks flexibility in adjusting weights for inputs and outputs in assessments. Addressing this gap, this study proposes PCA/MPI-AR, an integrated approach merging principal component analysis (PCA), the assurance region (AR) technique, and MPI, to analyze ESP trends in 125 countries from 1997 to 2017. The results showed MPI-AR scores ranging from 0.3543 to 4.2800, indicating a general trend of ESP improvement over 21 years, with significant recent progress compared to earlier periods. Notably, 107 countries scored at least 1.0, and 3 scored below 0.5. A grouping analysis classified 12 countries as “highly efficient and improving,” with Switzerland, Ireland, Denmark, and Luxembourg as benchmarks. For the countries labeled “inefficient and regressing,” understanding and potentially emulating the strategies of these benchmarks is essential. Adopting this integrated PCA/MPI-AR approach incorporates flexible weighting capabilities and marks a significant advancement in the field of ESP evaluation. It is anticipated that our model will not only align more closely with the real-world conditions under which energy policies are formulated and implemented but also provide a more precise tool for evaluating and comparing the efficiency of different countries in enhancing their ESP. The research also suggests three potential policy directions for improvement in underperforming countries: renewable energy investment, energy efficiency enhancement, and energy taxation policy, as well as enhancing international cooperation through sharing best practices and technologies. This approach allows countries with significant improvements to support those with declining ESP scores, promoting a unified approach to global energy security. Urgent reforms and targeted interventions are needed to address specific deficiencies, potentially drawing on strategies from more successful nations.
","PeriodicalId":47435,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Knowledge Economy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2024-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141587001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
