In the present pilot study, a collaborative therapeutic songwriting project was initiated with adolescents 11 to 12 years of age, at a grammar school. The aim of the research project was to support adolescents in their psycho-social development and to create a prevention service during the corona pandemic. Focus was placed on the young people’s mental associations and the question as to which group-dynamic and personal processes and feelings they went through and expressed, during the project period. Guided expert interviews with 12 of the 14 participants were to answer the research questions. The resulting song texts, as well as the interviews, were evaluated using qualitative content analysis. During the ongoing phases of acute stress and burnout, a population may greatly benefit from traditional ways of recovery, such as musical concerts. Especially fulfilling, perhaps, is the experience of concerts, organised within the framework of available scientific data, according to which music can be used as a modulator for stress reactions, as a pathway to sharing experiences and as a means of emotional regulation. The project Recovery was launched by the Lviv National Philharmonia and the Department of Psychology and Psychotherapy of the Ukrainian Catholic University within the scientific framework and with the aim of strengthening personal resilience through listening to music in a psychologically sensitive and supportive environment. For a culturally sensitive approach, it is necessary to add transcultural content to the therapeutic stance and approach, since ultimately every form of therapeutic encounter is to be understood as transcultural. The pre- and unconscious thoughts, feelings as well as individual cultural impact of therapists and clients have an affect on the therapy process. Self-reflection by the therapist is necessary in order to become aware of the presuppositions, convictions and power structures associated with the cultural impact.
