Our findings were based on a search of the literature databases PubMed, Google Scholar, Journals Online, and the Internet Library.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Searching for \"Healthcare Preparedness in Pakistan\" yielded the expected results. Particularly of interest to the researchers was the question of why, despite efforts to boost vaccination rates and emergency immunization response capacities in the event of epidemics, progress on SDG3 immunization indicators has been minimal. Immunization is critically important because vaccine-preventable diseases pose a significant risk to the general population. Pakistan's authorities and government should take deliberate action to increase immunization rates.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusion</h3><p>Particularly disadvantaged countries and regions are hit the worst by climate change. Pakistan continues to be hit hard by diseases like acute watery diarrhea, dengue fever, malaria, and COVID-19 are on the rise as a result of the flooding, especially in shelters and areas where water and sanitation systems have been affected. After devastating floods in KP, Sindh, and Punjab, over 70 suspected cases of diphtheria were reported. Diphtheria epidemics illustrate the precarious position of flood victims. It would be catastrophic if the newly found diphtheria strain or the covid-19 variation reached the underserved flood victims. This modality addresses multiple risk factors such as physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, tobacco use, and stress. Evidence shows that adopting a healthy lifestyle can significantly reduce the incidence and progression of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer. The implementation of Lifestyle medicine requires a multidisciplinary approach involving healthcare providers, patients, and communities. The number of thalassemia sufferers in Indonesia increased from 4896 in 2012 to 8761 in 2018. The latest data in 2019 shows a significant increase to 10,500 patients. Community nurses who work at the Public Health Center, have full roles and responsibilities in carrying out promotive and preventive efforts against thalassemia cases. Promotive efforts that can be carried out are guided by government policies (Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia) which stipulate primary efforts in the form of education about thalassemia disease, prevention efforts, and diagnostic tests that can be taken. To optimize the promotive and preventive efforts, community nurses need to collaborate with midwives and cadres at integrated service posts. Interprofessional collaboration between stakeholders can strengthen the government's consideration in making policies for dealing with thalassemia cases in Indonesia.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":46806,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Taibah University Medical Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9972369/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"10823924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such data are crucial for developing optimal preventive and corrective strategies to address smoking among youth.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>A school-based, cross-sectional study was conducted in Jeddah City, KSA, from September 2020 to December 2020. It included 6770 children attending grades 4–12, who were selected from 60 public and private elementary, middle, and secondary schools through multistage random-cluster sampling. An Arabic version of the Global Youth Tobacco Survey questionnaire was used to assess the prevalence and predictors of tobacco use.</p></div><div><h3>Result</h3><p>The prevalence of ever smoking was 14.1% (95% CI = 13.2–14.9%), and the mean age at which children smoked their first cigarette or took any puffs was 13.76 years (SD = 2.23). The prevalence of active smoking was 3.8% (95% CI = 3.3–4.3%), and the amounts and frequency of cigarettes smoked in the past 30 days among smokers were relatively low. The most commonly consumed tobacco products were cigarettes (47.2%) and hookah (42.9%). In most cases, active smokers bought cigarettes by themselves from groceries or convenience stores, or received them from a person to whom they were close. Ever smoking was independently associated with older age, male gender, private school, the mother's working status, and exposure to passive smoking indoors or outdoors. Active smoking was independently associated with older age, male gender, private school, a high amount of pocket money, perceived ease of obtaining tobacco products, and exposure to passive smoking.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusion</h3><p>The observed smoking patterns among school-aged children in Jeddah corresponded to occasional smoking, and family-related determinants were significant contributors.
