The necessity of strict adherence to protocols in clinical laboratories is underscored by the potential for a deviation of up to 45% in results, leading to diagnostic errors. The research focused on emergency service critical values, adhering to a designated protocol list. Conducted in two phases, the study initially involved training sessions and a knowledge questionnaire regarding the protocol, followed by a repeated questionnaire and analysis of laboratory test reports. Among 181,507 emergency examinations, critical values constituted 2.75% (4,998 cases). While protocol knowledge did not show significant improvement, reporting accuracy for creatinine, glucose, sodium, leukocytes, platelets, and activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) markedly increased. Timely and effective notification rates improved significantly, as did staff reporting consistency across shifts. The study concludes that implementing a critical value protocol significantly enhances the quality of clinical laboratory reporting, although timely critical value quality remains below the requisite standard.","PeriodicalId":46663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced and Applied Sciences","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139329030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach reduces partial differential equations (PDEs) to first-order differential equations, referred to as classical equations, including Bernoulli, Ricatti, and Abel equations. In addition, the techniques proposed have the ability to produce precise solutions for nonlinear second order PDEs. For each PDE class, the method's effectiveness is demonstrated through illustrative examples.","PeriodicalId":46663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced and Applied Sciences","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136059416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to introduce and apply an established computer self-efficacy scale in a novel cultural milieu, seeking to discern the levels of computer self-efficacy among employees while exploring its associations with various control variables, with a specific emphasis on gender. Data collection was accomplished through the distribution of a 12-item scale administered online, which garnered responses from 320 participants. Contrary to prior investigations, the present study revealed no significant disparities in computer self-efficacy between male and female employees. Furthermore, no substantial variations were detected among other control variables, including age, job position, salary, and educational background. This research distinguishes itself through the translation and adaptation of the questionnaire to the Albanian language within a workplace context, setting it apart from previous studies that predominantly focused on student or trainee samples. However, it is worth noting that this research is constrained by its exclusive consideration of computer self-efficacy as a continuous variable, without addressing antecedent and consequent variables.","PeriodicalId":46663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced and Applied Sciences","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136167088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to elucidate the complex dynamics underlying substance use, adolescent psycho-cognitive predispositions, and academic achievement among pregnant teenagers in selected metropolitan areas of Nigeria. Using a cross-sectional study design, we enrolled 400 consenting pregnant teenagers from three chosen states in Nigeria (Niger state, Lagos, and Port Harcourt) between January and April 2021, employing the snowball sampling technique. Data were collected through a validated self-administered questionnaire and subjected to analysis using Structural Equation Modeling with Smart-Pls to illustrate path analysis representing the dynamics of the phenomenon. The findings revealed that substance use, including alcohol (β=-0.224, p<0.001) and psychoactive drugs (β=0.211, p<0.001), significantly influenced sexual-cognitive orientation, encompassing knowledge/perception (β=-0.229, p<0.001) and attitude (β=-0.171, p<0.001). Furthermore, sexual-cognitive orientation (β=0.443, p<0.001) and attitude (β=-0.168, p<0.001) significantly predicted academic performance. Substance use with abuse potential was found to impair the cognitive ability to make decisions regarding safe sex, and sexual activity negatively affected the academic performance of pregnant students. This study highlights the need for a multi-level approach, addressing individual and environmental factors, to facilitate positive lifestyle modifications related to sexual cognitive orientation and harm reduction, ultimately improving the academic performance of pregnant teenagers.","PeriodicalId":46663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced and Applied Sciences","volume":"2013 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135588023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unprecedented measures, such as compulsory quarantines, curfews, and restrictions on mobility and social interactions, were implemented to mitigate infection rates. This paper delves into the repercussions of isolation, with a specific focus on its impact on the elderly population—an exceptionally vulnerable demographic. The primary objective of this study is to discern the ramifications of pandemic-induced isolation on the mental and physical well-being of senior citizens. This contribution underscores the comparative analysis of three prior studies that have illuminated the nexus between pandemic-induced isolation and heightened levels of anxiety, depression, and loneliness. A notable strength of this research lies in its comprehensive dataset, derived from comparisons with extant scientific literature and the utilization of diverse scientific methodologies. The preceding investigations centered on the Austrian populace, juxtaposing the effects of loneliness among senior citizens before and during the pandemic. However, these studies were constrained by their inability to explore the enduring consequences of isolation and loneliness post-repeal of anti-pandemic measures, and their incapacity to ascertain its correlation with senior citizens' mortality, particularly those residing in solitary circumstances. This article represents a partial outcome of the VEGA 1/0595/21 project, which investigates public administration interventions during the COVID-19 era and their influence on the quality of life of selected community residents.","PeriodicalId":46663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced and Applied Sciences","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134995506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
