This paper analyzed a socio-centric network composed of 32 cultural organizations in Andalusia to measure this increase. Multiple Regression Quadratic Assignment Procedure (MR-QAP) at the dyadic level, showed that perceptions of affinity (i.e., homophily) and the possibility of establishing contacts in the future, can exert influence on the establishment of informal contacts. At the internal level, an organization’s brokerage position in collaboration project networks is related to the volume of business and the old in the sector. However, most studies focus exclusively on formal loan markets. Based on 2,023 observations about financial behavior of Brazilian families, we examined the impacts of financial literacy on informal borrowing, such as loans from friends or moneylenders. Using multinomial logit models, we compared financial literacy’s effects on the propensity to take informal loans between families that did not borrow at all and those who took bank loans. Financial literacy is measured by the investment in capitalization bonds, a financial instrument in the Brazilian market. The results suggest that financial literacy’s relevance to informal loans may exceed that for formal credit channels.","PeriodicalId":46558,"journal":{"name":"Rae-Revista De Administracao De Empresas","volume":"43 1","pages":"44-59"},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76161650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty in China and the neighboring region, growth in Asia helped mitigate the effects of the global financial crisis in 2008. Today, China and India are key drivers of the global economy with over a hundred countries listing the middle kingdom as their most important trading partner. Along with the economic revival in Asia, unprecedented global interconnectedness has also raised the level of risk exposure to virtually all businesses around the world. One example is North Korea: while an unpredictable hermit kingdom on the other side of the world would hardly have concerned Brazil’s Embraer and Vale in the early 1990s, Kim Jong Un’s current nuclear overture could have the potential to create geopolitical instability in North-east Asia, including China, an essential market to both companies. Country risk, which analyzes risk when conducting business across borders, also seems to be on the rise in developed countries. The rise of xenophobia and nationalist politics in Europe, Brexit, and the possibility of Donald Trump winning the U.S. presidential election all represent potential and important risks for investors in the global economy. Hasta ahora, la literatura sobre edificios co-locados era ambigua sobre como una reduccion de la distancia fisica lleva a mayores esfuerzos colaborativos. Para abordar este problema, recurrimos a un estudio demografico de un centro de control ferroviario co-locado en el que se localizan bajo el mismo techo los transportadores de las mayores organizaciones ferroviarias holandesas. Aunque la intencion de la co-locacion era mejorar la colaboracion al acercar a diferentes organizaciones, nuestras conclusiones cuentan una historia diferente. Los empleados ferroviarios desarrollaron varias practicas territoriales a traves de las que se resistieron al diseno, cambiando el centro de control de co-locado a “des-plazado”. En este estudio, planteamos que las tentativas de comprender la relacion entre co-locacion y colaboracion no deberia concentrarse solamente en como dichos espacios son disenados y planificados, sino en explicar como dichos espacios donde se demanda colaboracion son experimentados y usados por los empleados. EnglishThis paper studies the design of co-located spaces and how organizational actors experience such spaces. The literature on co-location is ambiguous about how reduced physical distance increases collaboration. To address this problem, we draw on an ethnographic study of a co-located railway control center, housing the largest Dutch railway organizations under one roof. Although the intention of the co-location was to improve collaboration by bringing different organizations into closer proximity, our findings tell a different story. Railway employees developed several territorial practices (preserving existing boundaries, creating new boundaries, and the situational use of boundaries) through which they resisted the design of the control center, thereby changing the control center from co-located to “dis-located.” We argue that understanding the relationship between co-location and collaboration should not only focus on how such spaces are designed but, rather, account for how spaces where collaboration is demanded are experienced and used by employees. portuguesEste artigo estuda o desenho de espacos co-localizados e como os atores organizacionais experimentam esses espacos. The theoretical framework of the Belief-Action-Outcome model is used. In a qualitative research approach, data on 10 university IT managers were collected through interviews and a checklist of Green IT practices. Content analysis on the interviews was performed and the responses to the checklist were analyzed by frequency. Analysis results show that the institutional pressure most related to the adoption of Green IT for the interviewees is mimetic. Regarding environmental beliefs, while eight managers expressed concerns about environmental issues, only three reported their own initiatives. Other respondents said they faced barriers such as bureaucratic dysfunctions and lack of management support to propose actions related to Green IT.","PeriodicalId":46558,"journal":{"name":"Rae-Revista De Administracao De Empresas","volume":"228 1","pages":"585-600"},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2017-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82378925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research analyzes the relationship between stages of the organizational life cycle proposed by Lester et al. (2003) and the elements of influence of the F-PEC family (power, experience, and culture). The study was developed through a sample of 117 Brazilian family companies, without the participation of companies with shares traded on the stock exchange, and employed statistical treatment of the data through a structural equation model. As a result, the elements of F-PEC were partially identified in the sample. Power indicates the control of the company by the family, experience indicates the role of the different generations, and culture indicates the values of the controllers. In particular, it should be pointed out that, at birth, power and culture play important roles; in maturity, experience and culture stand out, and in rejuvenation, power and culture have been identified as characteristic. As an exploratory analysis, the article contributes to the understanding of organizations, by indicating the development of comparative analyses and performance on the variables that provide migration planning to more desirable stages, such as growth, maturity, and rejuvenation.","PeriodicalId":46558,"journal":{"name":"Rae-Revista De Administracao De Empresas","volume":"19 1","pages":"601-619"},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2017-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81848117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
