This qualitative study explored the multi-level challenges healthcare providers face in supporting women experiencing DV. Between 2021 and 2022, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 participants, including clinical staff, healthcare program managers, and community health promoters involved in maternal and child health initiatives. Findings highlighted barriers across systemic, community, facility, family, and individual levels, including staff shortages, limited resources, privacy constraints, community resistance, restrictive family dynamics, and survivors' reluctance to disclose abuse due to socio-cultural norms and lack of awareness of support services. The results emphasize the need for targeted provider training, strengthened referral networks, and community awareness initiatives to improve DV identification, support, and referral in rural healthcare settings.</p>","PeriodicalId":45824,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Ethnic & Cultural Diversity in Social Work","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2026-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC13132529/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147821976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using surveys from 152 participants, findings showed that greater exposure to police use-of-force videos was associated with decreased reliance on police for personal safety, and this relationship was mediated by perceptions of police legitimacy. Path analysis revealed that perceptions of police as less legitimate led to greater reliance on self or others for safety. These results highlight the impact of media exposure on trust in police and personal safety strategies.</p>","PeriodicalId":45824,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Ethnic & Cultural Diversity in Social Work","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2025-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC12916151/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"146229058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
