Objective: To compare the efficacy of mini squats and endurance training in improving the quality of life in knee osteoarthritis. Methods: After receiving the approval from ERC of The Neuro-counsel Clinic, the current RCT sample size was 30 participants calculated by Epitool, from 16 May 2023 to 15 September 2023 and executed at The Neurocounsel Clinics/Hospital. Both genders between the ages of 40-65 years old with OA of grade 2-3 on the R&L scale were included in this study. Those participants who had pain greater than 8 on PNS along with serious comorbidity were excluded from this study. Two equal groups were formed. Group A was given mini squats at the rate of two sets each containing 10 squats. Group B was given endurance training by use of a therapeutic band using quadriceps sets. 3x/week for 4 weeks were given to each group. The assessment was made based on the WOMAC scale & and SF-36 QoL. The level of significance was kept at <0.05. Results: Within groups analysis of the WOMAC scale, revealed that both interventions showed marked improvement with p<0.05. However, group analysis also showed a significant difference as p<0.05 on quality of life and WOMAC Scale. Conclusions: It was revealed that mini squats are more effective in improving knee OA quality of life as compared to endurance training by the use of a therapeutic band.","PeriodicalId":45690,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan Journal of Medical & Health Sciences","volume":"12 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135977859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objectives: To assess the prevalence of psychiatric comorbidities in patients, perceived immune status, social support, resilience, health and physical lifestyle and the predictive role of these factors in impacting quality of life in patients with Hepatitis B and C. Methods: a correlational research design was used with an independently drawn sample of 400 participants (196 with chronic HBV and 204 with chronic HCV) with the mean age of 40.8 years and a balanced gender distribution. The sample size was finalized using G power analysis with 95 % confidence intervals. Normality checks were also performed on the data through assessing skewness, kurtosis and shape of the distribution. Cross Cutting Symptoms Measure, Essential Resilience Scale, Immune Status Questionnaire, Health and Life Style Scale and WHO Qol BREF scale were used. Results: The findings showed that cross cutting symptoms (depression, anger, anxiety, somatic symptoms, suicidal ideation, psychosis, sleep problems, memory, repetitive thoughts and behaviors, dissociation, personality functioning, substance abuse) had a significant negative predictive association with health and lifestyle, perceived immune status, resilience. The second molars adjacent impacted third molars lead to the development of various pathologies that manifest themselves as radiolucencies on radiographic evaluation. Objective: To evaluate the radiolucencies of the left mandible's second molar next to the impacted third molar in comparison with right mandible. Methods: A cross-sectional and descriptive study was undertaken on patients visiting College of Dentistry, Sharif Medical and Dental College (SMDC). A total of 385 OPGs were assessed for the presence of radiolucencies in the second molars adjacent impacted mandibular third molars from December 2020 to February 2021. Results: The association between the availability of periapical radiolucencies (p≤0.001) and radiolucencies due to caries and external resorption in second molar in the right and left mandible (p≤0.001) was significant.
