Our efforts lead us to untangle the nodal points by suggesting an interpretative framework of their main dimensions, motivators, and impacts. The family logic transcends entrepreneurial, strategic, and psychological decisions and dimensions by shaping in different ways their processes from the motivations to the outcomes. It appears, therefore, as an essential unit of study that ought to inform future research of family businesses in embedded contexts. Towards this direction, we suggest a series of theoretical and empirical route(s) along with methodological recommendations.","PeriodicalId":45658,"journal":{"name":"Entrepreneurship Research Journal","volume":"23 1","pages":"533 - 548"},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87339697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A multiple-case study approach was employed to investigate eight start-up cases in Indonesia. Indonesia was chosen to represent an emerging economy with a tremendous growing number of start-ups. The data are presented based on the evolving circumstances of the COVID-19 crisis. The research findings illustrate how dynamic capabilities are operationalized simultaneously with the validation of adjusted business models through simple-experiential routines, iterative executions, and action-oriented processes amidst the high-turbulent markets. Dynamic capabilities that operate in full combination by sensing, seizing, and transforming capabilities potentially can facilitate the creation of values for firms faster than otherwise. This study also identifies specific elements and alignment mechanisms incorporated in the dynamic capabilities.","PeriodicalId":45658,"journal":{"name":"Entrepreneurship Research Journal","volume":"42 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90312360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study’s target population was small-scale business owners and employees from Rajasthan, India. A sample of 339 small companies was selected through the purposive sampling method. Data were gathered through a survey instrument designed given an appropriate theoretical context. The survey instrument was tested for its proper validity and reliability. Further, we used the structural equation modeling approach to test the hypotheses. Derived findings indicated that the direct impact of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on firm performance was significant. Additionally, the relationship between EO and MSME performance was partially mediated by entrepreneurial competencies. The conceptual framework and findings offer the MSME sector entrepreneur new directions for positioning their product in customers’ minds and supporting the growth of an innovative and opportunistic mindset. The current research findings help to outperform the competition and take advantage of market opportunities. The organization must be able to correctly match what it delivers to the consumer with the needs and demands of the customer.","PeriodicalId":45658,"journal":{"name":"Entrepreneurship Research Journal","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83361359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, we still lack an in-depth understanding of under what conditions the impacts of entrepreneurial role models are stronger or weaker. This paper draws on social learning theory and construal level theory to explore how entrepreneurial role models relate to individuals’ entrepreneurial perceptions under different psychological distance dimensions. A representative sample of 322 final-year students from nine universities in China was analyzed. The results demonstrated that entrepreneurial role model was positively associated with feasibility and desirability perceptions. Further, we found that the spatial distance and social distance as boundary conditions, respectively, moderated the main effects. This study extends prior research on the functions of entrepreneurial role model by providing a psychological distance perspective.","PeriodicalId":45658,"journal":{"name":"Entrepreneurship Research Journal","volume":"37 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86698974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the study explores the influence of top management characteristics, i.e. strategic planning capacity and entrepreneurial orientation, on manager’s decision to support innovation adoption. We report on the findings from a vignette study. Research participants included a group of 259 experienced business professionals: 148 from the United States and 111 from China. The results suggest that the alignment of strategic planning capacity and entrepreneurial orientation influences middle management’s support for corporate entrepreneurship in both cultural settings.","PeriodicalId":45658,"journal":{"name":"Entrepreneurship Research Journal","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81679215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A theoretical framework was developed and tested using survey data from a sample of the Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students’ Survey (GUESSS). The results suggest a positive effect of ambidexterity on firm performance, which is positively moderated by motivating factors, the number of co-owners and normative and cognitive institutions, such as power distance and university environment and program learning, respectively. The study provides important insights for policymakers to promote entrepreneurial education and clues for future research, as well as extends existing theory by offering insights on the moderator effects of individual and contextual factors on the relationship between ambidexterity and firm performance, assuming the benefits of the synergic effects of exploration and exploitation.","PeriodicalId":45658,"journal":{"name":"Entrepreneurship Research Journal","volume":"54 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2023-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80181349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The family firm is presented herein as a suprasystem that offers a full recognition and representation of its organizational and relational realities. Future family firm research must embrace these conceptualizations and build an unbiased parallel research suprasystem that enhances future research studies through demonstrating the interconnectedness and interdependentness of family, business, and family/business interface subsystems. Doing so will move the family firm and entrepreneurship disciplines toward creating a path to achieving a deeper and wider understanding of how family firm suprasystems emerge, develop, and sustain themselves overtime. Future researchers can meet these challenging opportunities with appropriate conceptualizations and methodologies.","PeriodicalId":45658,"journal":{"name":"Entrepreneurship Research Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":"549 - 565"},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2023-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87464021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, the specific circumstances surrounding each type of crisis may also cause the conclusions of these studies to diverge or converge. To enhance our theoretical understanding of entrepreneurship during times of crisis, our review seeks to answer the following research questions: (1) How are the different types of crises addressed in entrepreneurship literature, and what similarities and differences exist? (2) How can we broaden our understanding and deepen our insights into the relationship between a crisis and entrepreneurship? In an effort to review the largest possible variety of crises that extends beyond political crises, natural disasters, and financial crises, we have also included a number of recent studies that examined COVID-19 from an entrepreneurial perspective. Following this, our study identifies six types of crises along with corresponding research themes, key findings, and critical shortcomings. This review also identifies multiple research gaps and suggests several future research directions, as well as theoretical approaches that researchers can take to build upon existing discussions surrounding entrepreneurship in times of crisis.","PeriodicalId":45658,"journal":{"name":"Entrepreneurship Research Journal","volume":"35 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2023-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84934166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
