This presents a lexical problem, given that all of its apparent cognates appear to refer to rock. Based on a reanalysis of existing lexical data with the inclusion of new cognates and a new analysis of the imagery contained within Ezekiel 13 and Ezekiel 38, this study proposes that Hebrew אֶלְגָּבִישׁ, Akkadian algamešu, Ugaritic, a͗lgbṯ, Egyptian, i͗rḳbs, and other related words all derive from Egyptian i͗nr-km.","PeriodicalId":45627,"journal":{"name":"ZEITSCHRIFT FUR DIE ALTTESTAMENTLICHE WISSENSCHAFT","volume":"133 1","pages":"346 - 360"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45554208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the relevant Jewish narratives (Dan, Est, Jdt, JosAs, Tob, Arist) are mutually used for explanation. In contrast, Ruben A. Building on the methodology known as Empirical Models for Biblical Criticism, the paper explores patterns of development and redaction in the Mesopotamian proverb collection The Instructions of Shuruppak, including growth of collections, editorial use of opening and concluding formulas, and religiously-oriented redaction. These, in turn, serve as an illustration for very similar processes hypothesized by Biblicists regarding the development of biblical wisdom collections.","PeriodicalId":45627,"journal":{"name":"ZEITSCHRIFT FUR DIE ALTTESTAMENTLICHE WISSENSCHAFT","volume":"133 1","pages":"208 - 224"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1515/zaw-2021-2005","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42391279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article argues that the variants emerged due to the challenge of translating word play across languages. The reconciliation of the resulting readings does not require the choice of one interpretation over the other; instead, the »original« Hebrew text of Ps 69:27b meant both »to tell« and »to add«, a meaning that underscores a major themes and rhetorical strategy of the larger psalm.","PeriodicalId":45627,"journal":{"name":"ZEITSCHRIFT FUR DIE ALTTESTAMENTLICHE WISSENSCHAFT","volume":"133 1","pages":"231 - 240"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1515/zaw-2021-2004","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48287833","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
