However, the extent of media influence on voting behaviour is unknown, creating a problem that necessitates careful research. As a result, the purpose of this study was to determine the impact of media exposure on voting behaviour among Sumbawa voters in Indonesia during the Pemilihan Kepala Daerah, or PILKADA 2020. A sample of 400 voters was chosen using a Multi-Level Random Sampling method. To better understand this phenomenon, a set of questionnaires was used as a data collection tool in the field. The collected data was then analysed using SPSS software version 26. Descriptive analysis revealed that the level of media exposure was divided into three categories: low, medium, and high. However, such exposure has only a minor impact on voter behaviour. While inferential analysis shows that non-mass media exposure has a significant influence on the voting behaviour of the Sumbawa community in PILKADA 2020. This strengthens the case that the media has a direct influence on voting behaviour, as opposed to previous theories that based their argument on social and cultural variables. In conclusion, this study concludes that, when compared to mass media, respondents in this area prefer online media and media such as billboards or banners, posters, calendars, or stickers as a source of political information. This Bibliometric study examines research patterns over time using the term \"education technology.\" Three research questions are prioritised: (1) What is the current publication trend in EduTech? (2) What are the most popular themes among EduTech scholars? (3) What is the current citation pattern of EduTech publications? The methodology of this study uses bibliometric analysis with quantitative approach (document trend statistics) in the data scopus.com database for the years 1946 to 2022. The study's findings showed the number of publications on this education technology has increased since 2005, and this trend is expected to continue, with a recent notable theme being a focus on methodology studies, particularly in the field of health education. Furthermore, the most cited document was an article about activity design by Koehler et al., (2005), and the most cited author was Jonathan Michael Spector. Apart from Europe, Asian countries such as Malaysia and China are currently conducting more EduTech research. The implications of this study provide a positive outlook on the future of multiple educational technology research projects. Notably, this dangerous epidemic has a more significant impact on the risk group. It has caused them to feel stress, fear, and suffering from the ripple effect of Covid-19. Hence, this disruption occurred instantaneously, requiring people to demonstrate noteworthy adaptability and resiliency through communication. Therefore, this study examined the two dimensions of communication, namely self-centred communication (knowledge and optimistic thinking) and external communication (family support and media exposure), in predicting the resilience among the risk group in Kuching, Sarawak. The data collection was during the movement control order, so the distribution of the online questionnaire used voluntary response sampling to the target respondents through WhatsApp and social media accounts. Data collected was analysed using Partial Least Squares analyses. The results show that knowledge, optimistic thinking, and family support significantly correlate with the resilience of the risk group. Moreover, the self-centred communication constructs were the best predictor for resilience. However, media exposure was insignificant because they were in survival mode when it threatened the risk group's lives. So, this makes them prone to rely more on their knowledge, optimistic thinking, and their own family to help their resilience. Hence this has made them think the role of media is less important in resilience. This study has managed to contribute some useful suggestions for helping risk groups protect themselves during a pandemic. Critically, these findings can update relevant authorities in designing effective interventions to support risk groups by strengthening communication factors associated with resilience. A few studies have examined how different social media platforms have enabled users to send and get their news and information about their situation. Explained by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Uses and Gratifications theory, this study examines the impressions of how and why Iraqi IDP respondents use social media platforms, their perceptions, and their adoption of social media platforms in the times of war and conflict especially during the ISIS operations, for communication, information seeking, social interaction and its perceived usefulness regarding continuous usage behavioral intention. A sample of 288 Iraqi IDPs in four large camps in Iraq participated in this research. The findings revealed that most IDP respondents use and adopt various media platforms (traditional and new) for news and information. They, not surprisingly, mostly used their mobile devices to send and get such news and information. Such devices and platforms were very important in enabling them to get in touch with their loved ones, friends and relatives and communicate and socialize with others. These devices, once connected to the Internet, were also important as a tool in seeking information e.g., knowing what assistance is being provided. The Case of Young Malaysian Higher Education Students during the COVID-19 Pandemic","authors":"Antoon De Rycker, Fatin Umairah ABDUL JAMAL","doi":"10.17576/jkmjc-2023-3901-01","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17576/jkmjc-2023-3901-01","url":null,"abstract":"Research into the impact of social media on psychological well-being has produced conflicting findings, with a corresponding lack of certainty about the direction of the effect. Since early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated a re-assessment of the available evidence, also in Malaysia. The present study focuses on feelings of loneliness among unmarried young Malaysian adults, the so-called Generation Z, a demographic most likely to suffer mental health problems due to social confinement. An exploratory online survey (n = 103) was conducted to find out how lonely Malaysian youngsters are, focusing on those in higher education. To measure this, use was made of the UCLA Loneliness Scale. The main research question is whether loneliness relates to participants’ usage of social networking sites (e.g. Instagram), messaging apps (e.g. WhatsApp) or their reasons for doing so (e.g., meeting diversion or affective needs). Results show that in Malaysia, young adults’ feelings of loneliness under COVID restrictions vary independently of their social media and messaging app usage and the needs these digital technologies fulfil. Even the weak or moderate associations that were identified are likely due to chance factors. Our study supports, therefore, scholarship that questions the direct effect of social media platforms on loneliness regardless of the role they play in promoting meaningful in-person interactions. Possible explanations and implications of these findings will be discussed. One conjecture is that Malaysia’s shared cultural values might form a buffer against adverse well-being effects of both the pandemic and SMMA usage. This study set out to investigate the underlying relationship between adult attachment styles and patterns of interaction in a Malaysian setting. By means of survey method, data was collected using self-reporting questionnaire involving 400 married individuals in the state of Penang, Malaysia for the duration of six months, with Partial Least Squares (PLS) employed for data analysis. The application of Attachment Theory in this study was established via two dimensions of anxiety and avoidance. Result from the analysis yielded all the constructs have composite reliability value of more than 0.6 and convergent and discriminant validity with an average variance extracted (AVE) value greater than 0.50. The findings indicated that, married individuals who are high in anxiety will exhibit destructive and avoidance patterns during conflict. Similarly, married individuals who are high in avoidance will exhibit destructive, avoidance and low level of constructive pattern during conflict. The study concludes that conflict pattern of interaction among married individuals is a function of adult romantic attachment styles. This study also addressed the gap in research literature by providing a non-western context by basing research within a Malaysian setting. Apart from its benefits, the rapid adoption of technology also increases the risk of data breaches among individuals' personal information. This article focuses on the intention factor as a motivation to protect the security of personal data among the youth. A total of 535 respondents in the range of 19 to 30 years old from Putrajaya and Cyberjaya. They are randomly selected using a multistage cluster sampling method. A set of questionnaires were distributed online during the Movement Control Order (MCO) that hit all over the world including Malaysia. To analyse factors affecting the Malaysian youth in protecting the security of personal data the multiple linear regression analysis was applied. This article reports the intention factor has a dominant influence in motivating Malaysian youth to protect the security of their data. Additionally, findings showed that family connection and online banking transactions as the main factors in using online compared to other motives measured in this study. Therefore, Malaysian youths should be given the knowledge and awareness to keep on vigilant and protect their data security. Research on information-seeking behaviour, information needs, and information sharing has received increasing attention from various scientific communities since COVID-19 was declared a global epidemic. However, efforts have not been made to compare the capabilities of digital and interpersonal channels in both aspects of seeking and sharing information in Indonesia. Among the siege of information sources, identifying the primary sources of information used by students is important if the government is to intervene in health policies to overcome the pandemic. With an online survey conducted on 624 students, this study revealed that social media, which appears to be dominant as a source of COVID-19 information, cannot influence the behaviour of sharing information with others. The ETA correlation test confirms no correlation between the information source and information sharing behaviour. Indonesian students are moved to pass on information from interpersonal communication. In the two-stage communication model, individuals obtain information from the media and then discuss the information with others, which emerged in the conventional era and is still valid in today's digital era. The issue of trust is still inherent in social media, which makes it difficult to confirm the information on social media to be shared with others.
