There have been several studies examining the benefits of playing esports, but few have examined the psychosocial factors necessary to perform at a high level and in the face of adverse competitive outcome situations. In this study, researchers try to identify gamers’ psychological strengths and areas for improvement through qualitative content analysis. Interviews were conducted with five gamers and a coach from a professional Rainbow Six team to explore their experiences after getting 6 losses out of 8 matches during the competition. The interviews resulted in three main factors: healthy lifestyles and habits, emotional self-management and development of high-performance teams as areas for improvement. It is concluded that esports psychologists should be able to enter into a consulting relationship with clubs for a better understanding of what gamers and coaches specifically need from a performance improvement and mental health care perspective.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"62 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85667448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"El estado de la cuestión del optimismo en el deporte","authors":"Francisco Batista Espinosa, Roberto Ruiz Barquín, R. Marcos","doi":"10.5093/rpadef2022a5","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5093/rpadef2022a5","url":null,"abstract":": Optimism is a positive psychological resource that is highly relevant in that it is a predictor of good health, better adaptive coping behaviours in the face of stressful events, less vulnerability to physical illness, better immunological functioning and better academic and sporting performance. Specifically in the field of sport, it is found that athletes are more optimistic than non-athletes, have less state-trait anxiety and greater self-confidence, as well as a greater perception of personal achievement in their performance and less emotional exhaustion. For all these reasons, optimism is a predictor variable of sporting success and is an outstanding psychological resource to be studied due to its high predictive power for the psychological well-being of the general population and athletes. LOT-Sport (LOT-S) is studied, which has the same limitations as its counterpart test for the general population (LOT-R), inadequate content validity and low and unstable reliability index, especially in young people. Taking this context into account, we propose the creation of new measures aimed at alleviating the limitations of the current instruments and optimism measurement, enhancing their construct validity and considering different approaches or theoretical models analogous to those used today. Thus, to be able to delimit and define with the greatest possible specificity, the study of a positive psychological resource that has a powerful predictive power in the sporting success and well-being of people.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"28 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85785041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proven influence of psychological skills in the practice of sports performance has increased the demand for specialist psychologists by athletes, clubs and institutions in competitions at different levels of performance. In this sense, the design and implementation of effective psychological training programmes to optimise the best performance of athletes is fundamental for the development of the psychologist’s work. The aim of this research was to analyse the psychological intervention and training programmes that have been carried out on performance athletes. Method: Following the PRISMA methodology, documentary searches were carried out in a recent time period, la capacidad aten cional entre otras variables (Solé et al., 2014) además de ser un facilitador de reducción de los niveles de burnout y de la aceptación de la realidad, aunque este tipo de intervención no parece afectar de forma significativa para variables como la autoconfianza (Palmi y Solé, 2016). En relación con las in tervenciones cognitivas y cognitivo conductuales existen nu merosos estudios que inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 33 scientific articles on the subject were analysed. The results show, among other data, that 2020 accounted for 27.27% of the articles published on the subject, with the USA, Spain and Ukraine being the most productive countries. The interventions implemented are varied, although they are mainly cognitive-behavioural in nature, although others such as acceptance and commitment therapy and new techniques such as mindfulness are also used. The sport on which the programmes are mainly implemented is football, with the main variables addressed during the interventions being stress, self-confidence and self-esteem.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"32 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80375887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been associated with other pathologies such as depression and anxiety disorders or low self-esteem. It is estimated that its prevalence is higher among men and those who engage in muscle mass development exercises. The objective is to analyze the relationship of muscle dysmorphia with anxiety disorders, depression and self-esteem, in bodybuilders and other athletes at higher risk. A systematic review has been carried out following the PRISMA guidelines during the process, including 20 investigations found in different databases (ProQuest and Scopus mainly). The results seem to confirm a significant relationship between the presence of muscle dysmorphia and populations dedicated to physical exercise related to the development of muscle mass. The relationship between this disorder and symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as low self-esteem, also seems plausible. Therefore, the presence of these symptoms could be risk factors for muscle dysmorphia, although causality studies would be necessary to be able to conclude, with greater certainty, the true relationship between these variables.","PeriodicalId":44944,"journal":{"name":"Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Ejercicio y el Deporte","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73442800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
