There have been several studies examining the benefits of playing esports, but few have examined the psychosocial factors necessary to perform at a high level and in the face of adverse competitive outcome situations. In this study, researchers try to identify gamers’ psychological strengths and areas for improvement through qualitative content analysis. Interviews were conducted with five gamers and a coach from a professional Rainbow Six team to explore their experiences after getting 6 losses out of 8 matches during the competition. The interviews resulted in three main factors: healthy lifestyles and habits, emotional self-management and development of high-performance teams as areas for improvement.
