An efficient IB solar cell has not yet been realized due to insufficient combinations of absorption coefficients and carrier lifetimes. After describing the three classes of IB materials discovered to date, we introduce Simudo, the first device model capable of studying IB devices including all of their essential physical processes. Using Simudo, we show the material quality required for effective IB solar cells and compare to existing IB materials, showing which are most promising.","PeriodicalId":448071,"journal":{"name":"2019 Photonics North (PN)","volume":"282 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121357883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the materials’ optical and mechanical responses can be tuned by controlling the spatial and temporal distribution of the projected light field, which allows to achieve precise, reversible manipulation, in real-time, of the materials’ response. The understanding of the photomechanical phenomena occurring in azopolymers will be discussed as well as their applications as multifunctional materials.","PeriodicalId":448071,"journal":{"name":"2019 Photonics North (PN)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116460938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed highly-parameterized, computationally-efficient model calculates detailed front and rear irradiance profiles allowing for the analysis of real-world shading losses due to PV panel racking. Cloudy and clear day shading losses are found to increase linearly with torque tube radius for a single-tier (“1-up”) portrait configuration.","PeriodicalId":448071,"journal":{"name":"2019 Photonics North (PN)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129728440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
