In these crops it is important to lookfor environmentally friendly alternatives, focused on increasing agricultural yield. The objective of the study was to determine theeffect of the application of two biostimulants, one of Ascophyllum nodosum and the other based on diatomaceous earth on theproduction of pods and grain in cowpea and corn. Cowpea and corn were planted in association in Apatzingán, Michoacán, México.The treatments consisted of the individual application of A. nodosum (AN) and diatomaceous earth (TD) at 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 g L⁻¹and AN+TD both at doses of 1 g L⁻¹. A randomized complete block design with four replicates was used. It was found that theindividual foliar supply and in combination of the biostimulants, increased green pod yield up to 57 % and grain yield from 32.5 to42.5 %, and also increased morphological variables and yield components. The application of AN, TD and AN+TD in doses of 1 gL⁻¹, caused the highest pod production in cowpea and grain in corn.","PeriodicalId":447849,"journal":{"name":"e-CUCBA","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130762016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, not all fires are the same, some are more severe than others,their impact on the vegetation varying according to the degree of severity. Therefore, it is important to have information thatallows sizing these impacts and supports the implementation of management strategies. However, monitoring the impact of fireis not an easy task, much less monitoring the response of the ecosystem over the years. Accordingly, the objective of this workwas to implement satellite technology to monitor the dynamics of forest cover recovery in areas impacted by forest fires, inorder to direct ecosystem restoration strategies. For this, the difference (before and after the fire) of the normalized burningratio (dNBR) was defined to determine the severity of a fire that occurred in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve in 2019.Subsequently, the dynamic of ecosystem recovery was evaluated, through the analysis of a series of images, using thefollowing indexes: a) Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI); b) Normalized burn ratio (NBR); c) NormalizedThermal Burnup Ratio (NBRT); d) Burned Area Index (BAI). A change in the reflectance value was observed in the burnedarea after the fire, which was restored over time. However, although the values show a recovery of the vegetation, in the fieldthe ecosystem is made up of different species from those that were present before the fire, therefore, by means of the spectralsignature of the vegetation, an image was generated showing the difference in the density of vegetation, which favors theunderstanding of the effects of fire and helps define priority areas to direct restoration actions.","PeriodicalId":447849,"journal":{"name":"e-CUCBA","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121956125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Produces essential chemical, aromatic, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and industrialcompounds of high commercial value, only grows in Mexico, in the middle portions of the Papaloapan and Balsas River basins.The excessive use of its wood and its fruit to obtain essential oil, the destruction of the low forest where it lives, disorderly grazingand some environmental and biological constraints have generated an excessively low, discontinuous and sparse naturalrepopulation. The study of the causes of this threatening scenario is scarce and discouraging, insufficient to propose appropriatesolutions. This motivated the present analysis of silvicultural conditions, present regeneration and basic aspects of reproductivebiology in three natural populations from Oaxaca, Puebla and Guerrero. Very few trees ha-1 (36 to 45) were found, with fewfemales (35%). Diameters ranged from 5 to 35 cm, with maximum heights from 10 to 14 m. The regeneration in Chiautla was 21individuals ha⁻¹, while in Los Cués and Xalitla no regeneration was found. When reviewing the reproductive biological factors ofthe species, it was observed that the stages of flowering, fruiting and seed dispersal are seriously limited by low rainfall and theoccurrence of these in short, rare and irregular pulses. The flowering potential is high and increases with the diameter of the femaletrees, but the conversion of flowers to full and viable fruits produced is limited by the rainfall regime. Germination is notablydecimated by the frugivorous activity of birds and mammals. The new plants are trampled and browsed by livestock and wildmammals. The simultaneous occurrence of some or all of the limitations dangerously endangers populations. Assisted propagationis suggested to guarantee the permanence of the species.","PeriodicalId":447849,"journal":{"name":"e-CUCBA","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126993228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to this, in the presentwork a comparative analysis of simulations of fire behavior (propagation rate [m/min]) is made, during the course of aprescribed burning in favor of the slope, in a pine-oak forest stand from the state of Chihuahua. These simulations varied inrelation to: a) fuel models; b) fuel loads; and c) wind speed. The models tested were: 1) the one that resulted from amultiple regression (considering temperature, relative humidity and slope); 2) the fuel model M-8 and its variant M-8R(includes the values of fuel charges obtained in the field); and 3) the fuel model M-9 and its variant M-9R (includes thevalues of fuel charges obtained in the field). The equations of the trends defined by the correlation between the relativehumidity (%) and the speed of fire propagation (m/min) were generated. Although neither model was found to bestatistically significant, the best fit was defined with the regression equation:, which can be used in apractical way for a rough estimation of the rate of fire spread (RP). It is concluded that, in general, the selected modelswere not appropriate for simulating fire behavior during prescribed burning. The objective of this research was to estimate the basic density of wood in three tropical species (Tectona grandis L. f.,Gmelina arborea Roxb. and Cedrela odorata L.). To estimate the basic density of the species, the empirical method was used,which consists of extracting a core from the tree using a pressler drill, at a breast height (1.30 m), once the 20 cores per specieshave been obtained, the small samples are dehydrated in a drying oven until a constant temperature is obtained, through this thebasic density per species was obtained. Once the density data was obtained they were subjected to an analysis of variance and latera Tukey test was applied. The statistical analysis indicates that, if there are significant differences between the species, where thehighest basic density occurred in Tectona grandis L. f. with 0.59 g/cm³, followed by Gmelina arborea Roxb. 0.44 g/cm³ and finallyCedrela odorata L. with 0.37 g/cm³, these values according to the wood classification indicate that teak and melina have mediumwood and cedar has low wood","PeriodicalId":447849,"journal":{"name":"e-CUCBA","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126045353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
