The DSEPEC model is proposed while there is an uncertainty in the predicted demand, and it is modeled based on discrete Markov model. Each dominant producer is modeled by a bi-level optimization problem so that the first level and the second level provide models for the investment and operation decisions, respectively. The supply function equilibrium (SFE) is used for short-term electricity market. Then, each bi-level model is convert to dynamic stochastic mathemathical problem with equilibrium constraints (DSMPEC). To convert DSEPEC to an auxiliary MILP problem, Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions as well as primal-dual transformation. A sample two-buses power network is employed for simulation and necessary analysis to confirm the efficiency of the proposed framework.","PeriodicalId":447143,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114661762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The feedstock was pretreated using a two stages dry milling process and the experiments were performed at a mass flow rate of about 750 kg h−1. Untreated and pretreated materials were both anaerobically digested in batch reactors under mesophilic conditions for 28 days. The cumulative biogas production from pretreated hyacinth exceeded 141.8 Nm3 tr−1 of volatile solids, showing a +44.5% gain compared to the raw material. Such a gain resulted above the known range for size reduction pretreatments and the energy consumption for treatment was only 14.5% of the electric energy output from the processed materials. The net primary energy output from pretreated hyacinth was enhanced by 28.7% respect the untreated feedstock, showing that the investigated pretreatment might be successfully used to improve anaerobic digestion of water hyacinth on an industrial scale.","PeriodicalId":447143,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA)","volume":"151 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115197654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mauritius is targeting 35% mixed renewable energy generation by 2025. This work will focus on different types of wave energy converter (WEC) that can be used to supplement the existing local electrical energy grid. The key dimensions of a WEC are analyzed with respect to their ocean environment, namely, shore, nearshore and offshore and coupled to their working principles. Furthermore, the pros and cons of such devices are considered and much efforts have also been made to summarize the current status and future potentials of wave as an alternative renewable energy option for Mauritius.","PeriodicalId":447143,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA)","volume":"526 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116219889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To synthesise the flux observer for this machine, we use a third order model for induction machines expressed in term of complex differential equations. Since the equation of the rotor speed of the induction motor is complicated to analyse, we replace it by its behavioural model for the design of the flux observer. Moreover, we use the synthesised observer in order to investigate the effects of two common types of faults (i.e. voltage sag and the stator inter-turn short-circuit) that can occur in these machines. The validity of the proposed methodology is assessed via simulation results using a model of the induction motor.","PeriodicalId":447143,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115447041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to the intermittent nature of the renewables, the conventional generations are required to maintain flexibility in times of scarcity. In order to resolve this reliability problem, the independent system operator (ISO) plans in advance to facilitate building new capacity in long-term through capacity markets. The flexible conventional generations lack incentives to maintain operation and build new generations due to low revenue from the energy and ancillary services markets. This paper proposes an idea to incorporate renewable generations in the capacity markets within the virtual power plant model as capacity market units. The proposed idea increases the flexibility of renewable generation output with and/or without energy storage systems. Therefore, it will be particularly beneficial for ISO to increase the renewable capacity in the generation mix.","PeriodicalId":447143,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123314350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the first case, the GEP and TEP problems are considered separately, while in the second GEP and TEP problems are solved together, thus G&TEP problem appears. The objective function of the mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) problem is minimizing the expected generation costs, load-shedding costs and investment costs. The planner can modify the presented mathematical model in order to satisfy any other system requirements considering G&TEP problem. The approach presented in this paper is a deterministic static one. The investment decision is considered to be made at the beginning of the planning horizon.","PeriodicalId":447143,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123427760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In industrial applications, the demand load is mainly due to the operation of machines. In many cases there is some level of flexibility in the scheduling of the operation of machines. In other words, the demand load can have different forms. This is in contrary to the common practice in which the demand load is assumed to have a fixed profile. This paper presents the results of a preliminary study on the effect of including the flexibility in load scheduling in size optimization of HRES.","PeriodicalId":447143,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123613931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It contributes all key objectives of the EU energy policy, like safety in energy supply, cut down of energy import of EU countries, reduction of the carbon dioxide and other GHG gases, increasing the renewable energy sources share in primary energy consumption. European Commission (EC) presented in December 2003 directives of the European Parliament and Council for the end users. The paper presents a bottom-up methodology for energy efficiency improvements in building sector in Serbia. This methodology is based on the harmonized bottom-up method, reffering to four stages calculation. It is defined in the project “Evaluation and monitoring for the EU directive on energy end-use efficiency and energy services” with a set of calculations and case applications. According to the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP) total indicative target for Republic of Serbia for the period between 2010 and 2018 is 9% of the average final energy consumption (0.7524 Mtoe) where the baseline for calculations is 2008.","PeriodicalId":447143,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123948390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among all modulation techniques, selective harmonic elimination methods offer high quality voltage waveforms with operations at low switching frequency, hence, they are especially suitable for high-power applications. In this paper, a new analytical expression for the SHE problem formulated for a five-level converter is introduced, which is able to calculate the exact value of the switching angles. After a mathematical description of the proposed approach, this manuscript reports simulation and experimental results and analysis showing achievable results.","PeriodicalId":447143,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124070859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Usually, in the control of the battery-assisted qZSI, only the injected power to the grid and the maximum power point tracking of the PV are controlled. The battery charges, discharges, or floats depending on the available PV power and demanded power. Thus, a low-frequency current ripple is generated on top of the ripple caused by the shoot through state in the second inductor L2 and the battery. In the proposed approach, the battery current is directly controlled. The power injection is fulfilled with the maximum power capture from PV panels, along with a decoupled active and reactive power control. The validity of the proposed method is proved by using a detailed simulation model, showing a no low-frequency current ripple in both the inductor L2 and battery.","PeriodicalId":447143,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th International Symposium on Environment-Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128447388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
