Matrix converters are used for direct AC-AC power conversion. The gate signals for the switches used are generated with Optimum Amplitude Venturini Modulation Technique (OVAM). The maximum voltage transfer ratio obtained with this method is 0.866 with a unity displacement factor regardless of the load displacement factor. A model of three phase squirrel cage induction motor is used as a load for simulation. The simulation results are analyzed. But it is very tedious task to dry microalgae followed by lipid extraction and final processing for renewable fuel production. There are several economic and processing hurdles for methods including conversion of microalgae biomass to renewable fuel. Research conducted in this study modified/optimized a previously published procedure capable of extracting Tran’s-esterifiable lipids using wet and dry algal biomass. A wet lipid extraction procedure (WLEP) and Bligh and Dry methods were used for lipid extraction. From Wet lipid extraction method we are capable of extracting 25% of trans-esterifiable lipids from wet algal biomass (84% moisture) via acid (90°C, 60 minutes) and base hydrolysis (90°C, 30 minutes) and from Bligh and dry 20% of trans-esterifiable lipids from dry algal biomass. WLEP using wet algal biomass was found capable of removing chlorophyll contamination of the algal lipid extract through precipitation step in the procedure. The capability of the procedure to extract lipids from wet algal biomass, to reduce/remove chlorophyll contamination, to potentially reduce organic solvent demand, and to generate feedstock’s for highvalue bio products is highly responsible for reducing the cost of lipid extraction procedure.","PeriodicalId":446667,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Students' Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science (SCEECS)","volume":"156 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126018928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Signals are recorded from four forearm muscles viz. flexor carpi radialis, flexor digitorum superficialis, extensor carpi ulnaris, and extensor digitorum communis. After pre-processing, the signal is converted into segments of one-second epochs for each successive clench of maximum amplitude. Features such as mean frequency, mean amplitude, RMS and Median frequency are extracted from EMG, and the wrist angle and grip force is used for further analysis. The results of Pearson correlation analysis indicate that for the non-dominant hand, the wrist angle has the high positive correlation with mean amplitude and RMS. Moreover, for flexion-extension, the correlation of wrist angle with mean frequency, RMS, and median frequency is high but not always positive. Also, analysis of grip force with the mean amplitude and RMS show high positive correlation for the dominant hand. This method of analyzing surface EMG can also be used to evaluate muscles clinically.","PeriodicalId":446667,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Students' Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science (SCEECS)","volume":"43 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131452066","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typically WSNs are powered by batteries, which operates till a limited time period. Hence the WSN lifetime is an essential factor. In this article, a comparison of lifetime, energy consumption and maximum number of hops are performed using different optimization techniques such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA) and Least Distance Clustering (LDC). This article proposes an approach to enhance the lifetime of WSNs. Optimization algorithms have been applied on each and every cluster separately for clustering. By applying this approach, member nodes of a cluster leads to decrease the energy consumption for transmission of sensed data to their cluster head. Hence the lifetime of member node of the cluster increases. For routing, optimization techniques have been applied on cluster heads deployed over the whole area under consideration.","PeriodicalId":446667,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Students' Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science (SCEECS)","volume":"9 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132926723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a symmetrical single-phase, nine-level, cascaded multilevel inverter. Building block of this cascaded multilevel inverter is configured on the basis of h-bridge inverter having two dc-link switches and two diodes linked to these switches. This topology uses twelve controlled switches and two DC sources instead of sixteen controlled switches and four DC sources which is required in conventional cascaded h-bridge inverter. PWM method based on phase opposition disposition carrier scheme is implemented which requires merely one carrier signal. Through Matlab simulation work is carried out of the proposed topology.","PeriodicalId":446667,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Students' Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science (SCEECS)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114477505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
