Matrix converters are used for direct AC-AC power conversion. The gate signals for the switches used are generated with Optimum Amplitude Venturini Modulation Technique (OVAM). The maximum voltage transfer ratio obtained with this method is 0.866 with a unity displacement factor regardless of the load displacement factor. A model of three phase squirrel cage induction motor is used as a load for simulation. The simulation results are analyzed.
