To manage diabetes, patients need totake medication regularly, and the buccal patch has become a promising drug delivery option for this purpose. This review articlehighlights the potential of buccal patches as a novel approach to enhance patient compliance in treating diabetes mellitus. Byexploring the advantages of buccal patches as a non-invasive drug delivery system, this article emphasizes their potential to improvemedication adherence, thereby contributing to better management of diabetes mellitus. This article aims to evaluate the role ofbuccal patches in improving patient compliance in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. With the increasing global burden of diabetes,ensuring patient adherence to medication regimens is crucial for achieving optimal therapeutic outcomes. Traditional treatmentmethods often require frequent injections or oral administrations, which may lead to poor compliance due to various factors suchas fear of injections, inconvenience, or forgetfulness. Reviewing the literature on buccal patches as an alternative drug deliverysystem, this article explores their advantages in enhancing patient compliance. Buccal patches adhere to the inner lining of thecheek, providing a convenient and non-invasive route of drug administration. This approach eliminates the need for injections andreduces the frequency of oral medication intake, improving patient acceptance and adherence to treatment regimens. Furthermore,this article highlights the potential of buccal patches in delivering medications directly into the systemic circulation through thehighly vascularized oral mucosa. By bypassing first-pass metabolism in the liver, buccal patches can achieve higher drugconcentrations and improve therapeutic effects. Presenting the benefits of buccal patches for diabetes treatment encourages furtherresearch and development. So, the conclusion of this article is to promote awareness among healthcare professionals and patientsabout the potential of buccal patches as a patient-friendly approach to enhance compliance in the management of diabetes mellitus.","PeriodicalId":44665,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Life Science and Pharma Research","volume":"54 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135454968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The patient also gave a history of electric shock-like painon the left side of the face for the past month and was prescribed Tegretol 100mg (Carbamazepine) twice daily. After taking thismedication, the patient suffered several mouth ulcers. The patient was asked to stop taking this medication and asked to takeoral antihistamines and systemic Gabapentin steroids for one month. After one week, the patient heals completely from thelesions. Burning sensation with altered taste sensation and difficulty while swallowing are common patient complaints. Mouthopening was restricted and painful. The skin test (prick test) is done, which shows red, papular, or vesicular reactions. Earlyidentification of the lesion and prompt withdrawal of the offending drug are key for successful management, and the drug can bereplaced with another drug of the same efficacy. In addition, these primers also amplify nonspecific multiple bands along with specific amplification. The current study aims to explore the structure, role and reason for nonspecific bands in the amplification. The genomic DNA-degenerate PCR method was used to isolate the NBS-LRR type R-genes in Drimia species (synonym Urginea). Agarose gel electrophoresis was carried out for separation and visualization of amplified bands. The kit-based gel extraction method was followed to purify the PCR bands. Purified PCR bands were subjected to TA cloning. The plasmids which contain desired PCR bands were sequenced using the Sanger sequencing method. Multiple sequence alignment tool CLUSTALW was used to align sequences and MISA-Web tool was used to identify simple sequence repeats (SSR). The results of the study revealed that multiple sequence analysis of PCR bands of 600bp/500bp showed random deletions, presence of indels and frameshift mutations in the alignment. The sequence alignment also showed monomorphic sites between two sequences. Both 600 and 500bp were devoid of simple sequence repeats and the ORF finder confirmed the presence of irregular stop codons in the 600 bp sequences. The multiple sequence alignment tool was used in disclosing the structure and ancestor relationship between aligned Drimia sequences. The current study would help to explore pseudo genes in the genome of Drimia and to differentiate the orthologous and paralogous relationships in the sequences.","PeriodicalId":44665,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Life Science and Pharma Research","volume":"2 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135220102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Endometriotic cyst, with internal septations and opacities sonologically, mimics malignancy. Increased levels of CA 125 Are used as a tumor marker in epithelial ovarian malignancies. It is also an important prognostic indicator and follow-up tool in managing ovarian malignancies. A moderate increase in CA125 levels is observed in physiological conditions like ovulation and benign conditions like endometriosis and PID. We present here a case of extremely elevated serum CA 125 level in a patient who presented with recurrent ovarian endometriosis. Mrs. X, 46 years old, presented with a complex ovarian cyst with CA 125 level- 1021 iu/ml. With a history of laparotomy for endometriotic cysts in the past. Intraoperatively bilateral complex ovarian cysts were identified, which were densely adherent to the lateral pelvic wall and rectum posteriorly. The ovarian cysts were excised with a hysterectomy. The Patient developed dribbling of urine on the third postoperative day. CT urogram revealed a right ureterovaginal fistula. Laparotomy done. Uretero ureteral anastomosis done by a urologist. The Postoperative patient remained dry. Histopathological evaluation revealed benign endometriosis. Extensive and aggressive surgeries are usually done for ovarian malignancies to provide optimal reduction. However, in our patient, risk assessment for malignancy based on radiological factors and tumor markers was highly suggestive of malignancy. Yet, the histopathology turned out to be benign endometriosis. Therefore, to avoid invasive investigations and surgeries associated with high morbidity, emphasis must be made on the possibility of raised CA 125 levels in benign conditions such as endometriosis.","PeriodicalId":44665,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Life Science and Pharma Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2023-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45360273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are most prevalent in rural areas. Parasitosis affects all age groups. Inchildren, it causes slow mental and physical growth, produces long-term effects, leads to a deficiency of vital nutrients, and hampers growth and development.This prospective study aimed to assess the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasitosis in stool samples among the people of Uttarakhand, especially of Dehradun,from January 2017 to January 2018. To identify intestinal parasites, 1528 samples were examined for consistency and the presence of any parasitic particlesusing the visual, direct wet mount, and concentration methods. The SPSS statistical program was used to conduct the statistical analysis. Differences with a pvalueof less than 0.05 were considered significant. The overall prevalence of intestinal parasitic infection rate was 32.85%. The prevalence of the parasites wasin the following order - Giardia lamblia (29.48%), Entamoeba histolytica (20.91%), Ascaris lumbricoides (18.52%), Hymenolepis nana (7.96%), Trichuris trichiura(7.56%), Taenia sp. (7.17%), Strongyloides stercoralis (5.97%), Ancylostoma duodenale (2.19%), and Enterobius vermicularis (0.19%). The chi-square test (χ2 – 30 andP-value = 0.224) was insignificant, while Levene’s test was significant (F = 10.08, P-value = 0.008) of A. duodenale in both genders. Parasitosis of high levels wasdetected among the children. Health education, personal hygiene, and safe drinking water would reduce infection. However, designing specific controlmeasures requires proper identification. The present study may prove helpful for developing such measures for Uttarakhand in general and Dehradun inparticular.","PeriodicalId":44665,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Life Science and Pharma Research","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135204455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
