However, risky sexual behavior among teenagers still exists globally, including in Thailand. This qualitative descriptive research aimed to explore the implementation of comprehensive sexuality education in primary schools in a province of northern Thailand and to identify facilitators and barriers related to its implementation. Data were collected from June 2021 to May 2022 through in-depth interviews with 15 primary school teachers and nine primary school principals/deputy directors of academic affairs and analyzed using thematic analysis. Four themes emerged: 1) Promoting implementation of comprehensive sexuality education, including the policy level and the teacher levels, 2) Informal teaching, including non-compulsory subjects, differential content coverage, teaching informal style, availability of teaching aids, and unstructured evaluation, 3) Motivation as a facilitator for implementing comprehensive sexuality education, including teachers’ eagerness, children’s enthusiasm, changes in children’s outcomes, and support for teaching comprehensive sexuality education, and 4) Challenges and overcoming the barriers to implementing comprehensive sexuality education, including traditional vs. a paradigm shift, sensitive issues, lack of coordination, and lack of continuity and sustainability. The findings provide essential evidence that informal teaching in comprehensive sexuality education as a non-compulsory subject is valued, but some barriers should be eliminated by nurses to enhance children’s well-being and actively contribute to the prevention of health issues, including comprehensive sexuality education. Additionally, nurses play an active role in developing prevention programs and promoting healthy lifestyles, which encompass comprehensive sexuality education. The collaboration among nurses, school administrators, and teachers would support the effectiveness of implementing comprehensive sexuality education.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139231073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many females have encountered considerable difficulty maintaining menstrual hygiene because of a lack of awareness or access to menstrual products, particularly in low- andmiddle-income nations. However, knowledge and practice of menstrual hygiene among female undergraduates, especially in Nigeria, are understudied. This descriptive crosssectional study investigated the knowledge, practices and barriers associated with menstrual hygiene among female undergraduates of a private university in Nigeria. Three hundred and sixty-four participants were recruited using purposive sampling. Sociodemographic data, knowledge, practice and barriers associated with menstrual hygiene were assessed using a self-report knowledge and practice of menstrual hygiene questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results revealed that most respondents (72.3%) had poor knowledge of menstrual hygiene, while around half (49.2%) maintained good practices. The most common barriers to practicing menstrual hygiene among the respondents were reported as fatigue and limited water access in their dormitories. Therefore, schools of higher learning need to ensure that students have regular access to clean water with adequate time between classes to allow for proper menstrual hygiene practice. Nurses could provide menstrual education for mothers and their adolescents before getting into university. Similarly, nurses working in institutions of higher learning should provide regular menstrual hygiene awareness programs on campus and advocate for access to clean water and hygiene facilities for female students undergoing menstruation.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136357259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the Philippines, this advanced role has yet to be enacted, hindering the full potential of nurses as primary care providers. Hence, this study aimed to provide an in-depth analysis of nurses’ experiences within a collaborative advanced practice model for hypertension care in the Philippines. This qualitative study utilized a modified version of the Critical Incident Technique. Three participating nurses were asked to self-report the behaviors, interactions, and emotions that positively or negatively impacted their clinic experiences. Similarities in the data were iteratively labeled and classified until major themes emerged. Findings indicate that the overarching theme underpinning the nurses’ experiences in a collaborative advanced practice model was the significant role transition they underwent. While undergoing this transition, three distinct sub-themes of critical incidents emerged: 1) acquiring and maintaining competence, 2) establishing and strengthening collaboration, and 3) gaining and maintaining trust or respect. These insights on the successful role transition of advanced practice nurses in a primary care setting should be used by low- and middle-income countries when establishing their advanced practice nursing frameworks. Furthermore, training programs that prepare advanced practice nurses should also tailor their curricula and strategies on the relevant competencies to include collaboration skills towards building trust with patients and other healthcare providers.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135546793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different linguistic theories to analyze discourses can reveal the linguistic approaches used by the speaker for the realization of speaking intention from the different perspectives. The purpose of this paper is to explore the merits of register theory in the discourse analysis of lyrics and to verify the applicability of register theory in the analysis of lyrics. Though literature research method, quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis, this paper focuses on the register of lyric, including field, tenor, and mode, studying three meta-functions and its meanings of systemic functional linguistics which refers to the field and discussion of ideational function; the tenor and discussion of interpersonal function and the mode and discussion of textual function. The study shows the nationality and musicality of the song, and elucidates the reason for its widely spread among the public. The results of analysis prove that: i) the transitivity, logical relationship and the modal system are all influenced by the vocabularies used in the lyrics; ii) the two kinds of tenor in lyrics reflect the interpersonal relationship; iii) comprehensive analysis of the thematic structure, the information structure and the rhyme and other stylistic characteristics reflects the uniqueness of the lyrics from other types of discourse","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135469770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Family is a significant source of support for adults with pulmonary tuberculosis but has limited ability to continuously support in the first six months of treatments. This randomized controlled trial, a two-arm post-test-only design was utilized to investigate the effects of the family empowerment program on medication adherence and treatment success among adults with pulmonary tuberculosis. The sample comprised 64 family members caring for newly diagnosed adults with pulmonary tuberculosis who visited a tuberculosis clinic of a university hospital in central Thailand. The participants were assigned randomly to either the experimental arm (n = 32) to receive the program or the control arm (n = 32) to receive only usual care. Data were collected using the Demographic and Pulmonary Tuberculosis-related Characteristic Data Collection Form, Family Member’s Demographic Characteristic Data Collection Form, Tuberculosis Medication Adherence Scale, and criteria to identify tuberculosis treatment success of the World Health Organization. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s chi-square, Fisher’s Exact, and McNemar tests. The results showed that the experimental arm had significantly higher medication adherence at the 3rd and 19th weeks after the program ended than the control arm. The experimental arm had a significantly higher treatment success rate at the 19th week thanthe control arm. The family empowerment program was effective in improving medication adherence and treatment success. Nurses need to be trained to empower family members in providing continuous support for adults with pulmonary tuberculosis. To fully assess the program’s effectiveness, additional research is required to investigate its performance in different contexts and with various samples.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135386487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research objectives are threefold: (1) to analyze the key causes and concerns that led to the initiation of the trade war, including trade imbalances, intellectual property theft, state subsidies, and national security concerns; (2) to assess how the trade war events unfolded, characterized by escalating tariffs and retaliatory measures across distinct phases; and (3) to examine the significant impacts and consequences of the trade war on global trade, economic stability, and bilateral relations, with a focus on global supply chain disruption, economic effects, the agriculture sector, technological competition, and geopolitical implications. The findings highlight the disruptive effects of the trade war on global supply chains, increased costs for businesses and consumers, negative economic consequences for both countries, challenges in the agriculture sector, intensified technological competition, and strained U.S.-China relations with broader geopolitical implications. Addressing the underlying concerns, promoting dialogue, and fostering cooperation between the United States and China are emphasized as crucial steps toward resolving the conflict and achieving a more stable and mutually beneficial trade relationship. This study contributes to the understanding of the trade war's multifaceted nature and underscores the importance of international collaboration and fair trade practices in shaping a prosperous global business environment.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135425476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A qualitative descriptive study was conducted to explore the experience of hill tribe people (n = 16) and healthcare providers (n = 22) regarding emergency medical conditions and interfacility transfer in rural mountain areas of northern Thailand. Data were collectedfrom February to July 2019 via in-depth interviews. All interviews were transcribed verbatim, and the content analysis procedure of Elo and Kyngäs was used for data analysis. The study’s trustworthiness was established using Lincoln and Guba’s criteria. The finding revealed four categories reflecting hill tribe people’s experience of emergency medical conditions and interfacility transfer: 1) perceived barriers to rapid access, 2) helping hands, 3) the polarity of interfacility transfer services, and 4) ways toward a bright future. The healthcare providers’ experience was divided into three categories consisting of 1) the district system of interfacility transfer, 2) making it work: the three sources of power, and 3) hope for better interfacility transfer. These findings may contribute to a better comprehension of the nurses and healthcare providers who actively provide interfacility transfer support for emergency medical conditions suitable for hill tribe populations and healthcare settings.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135386795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The \"artistic conception\" of Chinese painting is the high unity of art, nature, life and soul, forming a unique aesthetic system of Chinese painting. The \"beauty of artistic conception\" of Chinese painting is applied to the design of modern interior space to create space with the expression of mutuality of emptiness and reality, reckon blank as inked and symbolic implication, which can also make Chinese painting produce new visual impact in modern society. The application of the \"beauty of artistic conception\" of Chinese painting in interior design does not simply present the \"Chinoiserie\", nor is it limited to the direct imitation of Chinoiserie elements, but allows the implication of interior design to be deeply expanded, and also allows viewers to perceive the rich feelings and internal beauty associations contained in the design in the interior space.
