Four voids are located between every two grooves where the piezoresistors are placed. These piezoresistors are electrically connected with aluminium wires to form a Wheatstone bridge. By introducing grooves around the diaphragm, more stress is concentrated in the void regions, resulting in high sensitivity. In addition, improvement in the performance of the sensor has been attained by modifying its geometrical dimensions. On the basis of simulation experiments, the proposed pressure sensor has achieved a high sensitivity in the range of 45.41 mV/V/Kg.cm-2 to 48.25 mV/V/kg.cm-2 by taking different lengths of piezoresistors varying from 300 μm to 120 μm. The pressure sensor has a very low nonlinearity compared to other pressure sensors within this range. A suitable control system should be in place to ensure the optimum function of the Three-Phase Separator. The current PID tuning technique does not provide an optimum system response of the separator. Overshoot response, offset, steady-state error and system instability are some of the problems faced. Besides, the current method used is purely based on trial and error which is time consuming. There is room for improvement of the current PID tuning technique. An artificial intelligence (AI) PID tuning technique called Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is introduced to improve the system response of the Three-Phase Separator. The PSO algorithm mimics the behaviour of bird flocking and fish schooling striving for its global best position. In our case, the global best position is replaced with the optimized PID tuning parameters for the separator. The PSO algorithm has been used in several other applications such as the Brushless DC motor and in the Control Ball & Beam system. It has proven to be an effective tuning technique. Here, multi-thresholding is projected for the RGB picture with Social Group Optimization (SGO) algorithm. The chief motivation of this work is to investigate the presentation of well-known image segmentation procedure known as Kapur’s function. SGO and Kapur integrated procedures considered to enhance RGB picture stained with noises, like Gaussian (GN) and Speckle (SN). The capability of Kapur’s function is established with the well-known image quality measures available. There are many rules for analysis and detection of skin lesion which are provided in literature reviews. In the proposed research work, the main task is to identify the malignant lesion at the initial stage. In the initial pre-processing, the noise is isolated and a purely digital image for segmentation and Edge detection is prepared. The Sobel Operator filters the extracted cancer region as foreground region and the remaining part of the image as background regions. Finally, the desired diagnosis is extracted from the Gradient magnitude based on Watershed Transformation. Watershed segmentation segments or separates the adjacent different colors in RGB image. The model approximation is executed by minimizing the Integral Square Error (ISEI) between the unit impulse responses of the original system and the approximate model along with the retention of their Impulse Response Energies (IRE), by using a hybrid evolutionary (i.e. PSO-DV) algorithm. The Reduced Order Model (ROM) developed by this method assures the properties of preserving the stability, passivity, and the dynamic behaviour of the original hydro power system. The suitability of ROM is shown by designing a PID controller and the same is used to control load frequency response of the original hydro power system to the desired value. The gains of PID controller are tuned by minimizing the Integral Square error (ISEc) between the desired and actual response of the ROM, by using the same PSO-DV algorithm. Knowledge of biomechanical and functional requirements for the effective use of walker is still limited as per the current data available. In this paper, an instrumented walker is discussed theoretically and a new system is developed using the measurement of subject’s resultant arm upper extremity loads. The bilateral upper extremity kinematics and kinetics data were acquired through Visual 3D motion analysis system. The internal joint force and moment for the wrist, elbow and shoulder were determined using inverse dynamics models. These data were observed from seven healthy subjects, right handed young adults and elderly. By utilizing these experimental data, a walker support system was developed and verified the design using the same subjects through repeated experimentation. Significant changes of resultant forces were observed for walker support system implementation. Due to its significance, a considerable research works are obtainable in the literature. This work implements a semi-automated computer based tool to extract the tumor region from the benchmark BRATS 2015 brain MRI database. A process by incorporating the thresholding and level-set (DRLS) segmentation is implemented to extract the tumor section from the MRI. Initially, Kapur’s entropy assisted thresholding is implemented to improve the tumor section; later the segmentation practice is executed to extract the tumor. After extracting the infected segment, a comparative investigation is accomplished with respect to the ground truth (GT) image in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed semi-automated tool. The experimental results of this work confirm that, proposed approach offers better average result for the Jaccard, Dice, sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. The X-ray diffraction pattern of single phase and doped samples confirms the formation of pure rhombohedral structure. The optical absorption study reveals that the absorption capacity has significantly increased for the doped samples compared to undoped and it increases as the Nd doping is increased. The absorption capacity is especially in the visible light region. Doped samples demonstrated well saturated magnetic hysteresis loops and this enhanced feature is attributed to the distortion in the spin cycloid structure after doping. DC-DC boost converters are universally used in Non-Conventional energy applications. But the high switching frequency increases the power loss due to switching and hence the power converter efficiency decreases. To increase the converter efficiency soft switched boost converters (SSB) are used. But the voltage from input (renewable energy sources) is always not constant; it remains in its specific manner. This varying voltage has to be maintained constant which helps to charge the DC battery. To sustain the output voltage at a steady value, traditionally a PID controller is used for SSB converter. The design of PID controller was carried out using Zeigler Nichols tuning method. Simulation of SSB converters and SSB with controller was developed by MATLAB/SIMULINK. In this paper a fractional order PID controller is proposed for the SSB converter. Fractional order PID controller has additional tuning parameters called fractional integral order and fractional derivative order. The simulation of the SSB converter with fractional order PID controller was also carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK. For fractional order PID controller implementation, the CRONE toolbox is used.
