However, their treatment in current terminography practice is not entirely satisfactory. This paper addresses the description of adjectives in term banks of French adjectives related to the field of renewable energy. Our goals were to conduct a corpus-driven semantic analysis of a sample of significant adjectives in this domain and to highlight some properties that should be taken into account in terminography. In particular, we used lexical functions developed within the framework of Explanatory and Combinatorial Lexicology. Our analysis shows that lexical functions are a powerful tool that can accurately define these adjectives, by showing their subtle semantic distinctions. They are also able to capture the relations between the adjective and the noun that it co-occurs with as well as systematically describe the paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations of adjectival terminological units.","PeriodicalId":44429,"journal":{"name":"Terminology","volume":"26 1","pages":"7-32"},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2020-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41659798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article describes which strategies are being put in place to allow IATE data – one of the largest multilingual terminology databases in the world – to be consumed by third-party tools, particularly computer-assisted translation environments (CATEs). The modernisation of the application, aligning it with the latest software and systems engineering standards and technologies for the benefit of all users and for improved data management by EU linguists, is also described.","PeriodicalId":44429,"journal":{"name":"Terminology","volume":"25 1","pages":"146-174"},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2019-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49017800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among them are the double dimension approach and the theoretical perspective of ontoterminology anchored therein, which explore the synergies resulting from the systematic organisation of both term systems and concept systems. By doing so, they provide a theoretical and methodological foundation underlying the creation of knowledge-based terminological products that can support the conception and development of different types of e‑dictionaries. Within that scope, and based on examples pertaining to two different subject fields, namely endometriosis and Islamic archaeology, this article aims to propose a framework for the creation of a terminological e-dictionary, defined as a reference resource in a specific domain that gathers, structures and describes linguistic data in a systematic way in one, two or more languages, in order to define concepts that are denoted by terms.","PeriodicalId":44429,"journal":{"name":"Terminology","volume":"25 1","pages":"259-290"},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2019-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44850805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a method for maximising use of open access linguistic resources and integrating them into specialised e-dictionaries. The method combines automatic compilation of terminology data with the creation of specialised linguistic corpora to produce a Catalan version of the IATE (InterActive Terminology for Europe) database. The paper presents new methodological advances applied here to the production of terminological e-dictionaries, using open access linguistic resources. We observe that, as a result of this new methodology, the Catalan version of the IATE will be able to include specialised economics, law and health dictionaries. In conclusion, the new methodology presented here permits the creation of new models of specialised e-dictionaries, facilitates the compilation of terminology in any language and unifies the access format for terminology data.","PeriodicalId":44429,"journal":{"name":"Terminology","volume":"25 1","pages":"175-197"},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2019-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48053505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Interactions with many different substrate-binding adaptors permit Cullin-containing E3 ligases to participate in diverse cellular functions. In the kidney, one well established target of Cullin-mediated degradation is the transcription factor Nrf2, a key player in responses to oxidative stress. The goal of this review is to discuss more recent findings revealing broader roles for Cullins in the kidney.</p><p><strong>Recent findings: </strong>Cullin 3 acts as the scaffold in the E3 ligase regulating Nrf2 abundance, but was more recently shown to be mutated in the disease familial hyperkalemic hypertension. Studies seeking to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which Cullin 3 mutations lead to dysregulation of renal sodium transport will be discussed. Disruption of Cullin 3 in mice unexpectedly causes polyuria and fibrotic injury suggesting it has additional roles in the kidney. We will also review recent transcriptomic data suggesting that other Cullins are also likely to play important roles in renal function.</p><p><strong>Summary: </strong>Cullins form a large and diverse family of E3 ubiquitin ligases that are likely to have many important functions in the kidney.</p>","PeriodicalId":44429,"journal":{"name":"Terminology","volume":"15 1","pages":"490-497"},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6686897/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81133391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
