It is characterised by chestahani in ardhasharira. It is Vataja nanatmaja vikara. There is no direct reference of pakshaghata nidana in brihattrayi and hence samanya nidana of vatavyadhi can be considered as nidana for pakshaghata. In the context of Pakshaghata Snayu sira Kandara rakta are considered as dooshya. But Adhistana and the process by which the disease manifestation is not mentioned in the context. Acharya charaka has clearly mentioned dhatukshaya and Margavarana as vataprakopaka karana and same is opined by Vagbhata acharya too. In addition to this Abhighata also plays an important role in Vataprakopa. Scattered descriptions are available in Brihatrayi which will abridge the understanding of etiopathogenesis of Pakshaghata. In the present paper an attempt is made to understand different etiological factors which contribute in the manifestation of Pakshaghata vyadhi.","PeriodicalId":443986,"journal":{"name":"RGUHS Journal of AYUSH Sciences","volume":"180 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115586313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

External ocular therapies mentioned in the classics like Virechana Nasya Tarpana Pindi and eye exercises for refractive errors were administered for the subject. Oral medication Mahatriphaladi Ghrita was started after the course of Pindi. Autorefraction was done at various stages of the treatment and during follow up. Enema is given in either cold or neutral temperature before starting the naturopathy regimen but there is no research evidence is found to prove changes on autonomic variables by enema based on temperature.Aim The aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of cold and neutral enema on autonomic variables in healthy volunteers using a randomized controlled trial.Design and setting This is a Randomized controlled trial in a Nature-cure CentreMaterial and Methods 60 Healthy volunteers were randomized into two groups by computer generated randomized numbers. Groups had equal number of subjects 30 subjects were in cold enema group and 30 subjects were in neutral enema group and given cold and neutral enema for 2-5 mins respectively. The assessments were Heart Rate Heart Rate Variability Respiratory Rate Blood Pressure Body Temperature Pulse Rate. The pre and post data were taken before and after intervention at an interval of 5 minutes. Statistical analysis Statistical analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences SPSS Version 20.0.Results The study was done to assess the comparative study of cold and neutral enema on autonomic variables in healthy volunteers. 60 participants were invited to participate in the study males 15 Females15 in each group of cold and neutral enema. The study showed that the Dependent T test within the group showed significant change in the temperature in group 1 and 2 and Independent T test for Post data in between the groups showed significant difference in heart rate. Other parameters showed insignificant results.Conclusion The result of the study showed that there was no significant difference found on autonomic variables in healthy volunteers between the two groups when cold and neutral enemas were given. So the study concludes that cold and neutral enema can be replaced to each other as there is no difference found.","PeriodicalId":443986,"journal":{"name":"RGUHS Journal of AYUSH Sciences","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133680230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nidana Upashaya and Lakshanas of Vataja Shirashoola resembles with that of Tension headache. For Vataja Shirashoola various treatment measures are described in Ayurvedic science. Agnikarma is one among them and is considered as Apunarbava Chikitsa. Nasya is one among the Masthishkya Chikits as explained for Vataja Shiroroga in the literature. Both treatment modalities are well known and are very effective and more widely practiced by Ayurveda Physicians. In the present study an attempt is made to see and compare the effect of Agnikarma and Shadbindu Taila Nasya on Vataja Shirashoola. 40 patients diagnosed as Vataja Shirashoola were randomly selected and divided into two groups Group A and Group B. Group A st patients received Agnikarma as treatment for1 day. Group B patients were treated with Shadbindu Taila Nasya for 7 days. Assessment was done before and after the procedure and weekly once for both the groups. Data obtained was statistically analyzed.Both Group A and Group B showed highly significant results in the all attributes like Nishi cha Atimatram Severity Frequency and Duration of Headache.Agnikarma had an edge over Shadbindu Taila Nasya in attributes like Severity and Frequency of Headache and Shadbindu Taila Nasya showed good results on Nishi cha Atimatram and Duration of Headache than that of Agnikarma.In Vataja Shirashoola Agnikarma provides an immediate result over pain and gradually reduces other symptoms. Shadbindu Taila Nasya has a gradual and long term effect. Hence Agnikarma can be practiced in Vataja Shirashoola to obtain immediate relief from pain and Shadbindu Taila Nasya can be administered to obtain the sustained effect.","PeriodicalId":443986,"journal":{"name":"RGUHS Journal of AYUSH Sciences","volume":"11 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120930156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
