This paper covers the complex and nebulous subject of grounding: from fundamental definitions to inconsistencies and differing (often conflicting) requirements. After a review of historical and modern practice, a systematic approach to grounding is presented for future application.","PeriodicalId":443616,"journal":{"name":"1987 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1987-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128159142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The EMI characteristics of seams can be quantitatively specified in terms of the transfer impedance of the seams from which the shielding effectiveness (SE) of the seam may be calcu lated. Unfortunately, for the EMI design engineer, there is a lack of available data on transfer imped ance of seams. Some manufacturers of EMI gaskets are beginning to supply typical transfer impedance data on their gaskets. However, the gasket is only part of the seam; quantitative data is not supplied on the important effects of metal-to-metal contact in the final seam, or the effects of metal surface finish/ plating, area of joining surfaces, bonding pressure, fastener spacing, etc.","PeriodicalId":443616,"journal":{"name":"1987 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1987-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127337824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most important result is that under imperfect carrier reference the command subcarrier and the ranging tone frequencies can be selected to suppress the cross-modulation interference and interference from the ranging channel for the specified command bit rate and ranging code component. Recommendations as to use of specific command subcarrier frequency, command bit rate, and ranging tone frequency are made for consideration in future standards systems.","PeriodicalId":443616,"journal":{"name":"1987 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131914577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
