Proposed research presents an image enhancement method, named CLAHE-HWT, which combines the Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) with Hybrid Wavelet Transform Type I and II (HWT I, II). The method includes, the original image is decomposed into low-frequency and high-frequency components by HWT II. Then, we enhance the low-frequency coefficients using CLAHE and keep the high-frequency coefficients unchanged to limit noise enhancement. Finally, reconstruct the image by taking inverse HWT of the new coefficients. In order to counteract over-enhancement, the recreated and original images are averaged using an originally proposed weighting factor. Two orthogonal transforms combine to form a hybrid wavelet. Here different orthogonal transforms are used like Kekre, Walsh, Cosine, Hartley and Haar in 5 × 4 combinations total 20 hybrid wavelets of type II. This research compares all the 20 combinations of HWT I and 20 HWT II to find out the best combination of HWT with CLAHE. Experimental results demonstrate CLAHE-HWT shows better results for noise depression and avoid over enhancement.","PeriodicalId":442547,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourteenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"228 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124211585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For a disconnected network, relay nodes are placed to form a well connected network. Relay nodes have a higher transmission range, energy reserve and data processing abilities as compared to sensor nodes in a network. However due to high cost of relays, optimal placement is necessary. We use heuristics to solve the NP-Hard relay node placement problem. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to ensure that the all the sensor nodes are connected to the data sink node using the least number of relay nodes. The simulations carried out extensively prove the performance of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":442547,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourteenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121763248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several engineering and non-engineering applications are implemented in android operating system. One of the promising application area might be antenna engineering domain by developing apps in existing smart phones that can accurately determine vital parameters in antenna design. The objective of this paper is to develop mobile apps of neural network models in android OS for computing different performance parameters of microstrip antennas (MSAs). The proposed approach is applied in two diverse examples of MSAs for analyzing its performance in real world cases. The apps are made user friendly with a simplistic GUI. The results of the examples are compared with many references and a very good agreement is attained amongst them.","PeriodicalId":442547,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourteenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"182 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124581631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence new authentication systems such as biometric based and token based system were introduced. But they have their own shortcomings such as difficulty in use and time consuming. Furthermore, despite the frame aggregation implemented by newer standards (802.11n/ac), the same performance degradation was observed. The experiments in this research show that, regardless of the standard, it is possible to apply management techniques in aggregated frames in order to define the maximum frame size that can be transmitted. The results of this research show that, under specific conditions, the limitation of the maximum size of frames can enhance the performance of wireless networks despite standard revision.","PeriodicalId":442547,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourteenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130917850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, intelligent transportation systems such as Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANET) are used for distributed road traffic. VANET is a wireless network that gathers complex and randomly generated data related to distributed traffic along with other information such as weather conditions on real time basis. In this paper, the Author has attempted to implement a system on Event Driven Architecture (EDA) to detect complex but similar levels of traffic congestion which resembles real life traffic situation. The system is designed with the help of a technique called Complex Event Processing (CEP) that treats all messages in the network from corresponding vehicles as an event. The effectiveness of this system can be observed by using different performance metrics.","PeriodicalId":442547,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourteenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133032970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
