The integration of additional functions to an electric vehicle is a very desirable feature, since it can result on cost reduction (in comparison to the separately implementation of the integrated functions). Simulation results provide evidence of the possible employment of power electronics converters, inherent to the vehicle propulsion system, in order to reduce harmonic content and improve power factor in single-phased electric networks.","PeriodicalId":442317,"journal":{"name":"2012 10th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131132823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mechanical system of tribometer comprises basically in a relative motion between two surfaces, which are evaluated in terms of the measurement of the frictional force between them. The tribometer proposed in this work, has a simple concept that consists of a recipient, which may contain different quantities of lubricating oil and slides in a reciprocating mode in contact with a specimen attached to a force sensor. During the tests, the speed of sliding of the recipient and the contact force between the samples can be changed, allowing the accomplishment of large variety of tests. Besides, a large number of cycles can be done in order to evaluate the wear of materials. The force sensor uses strain gauges, which depending on its configuration, allows the measurement of a wide range of magnitude of normal forces and friction. This equipment will be used in the characterization of oils from cerrado that have not been evaluated in terms of lubrication.","PeriodicalId":442317,"journal":{"name":"2012 10th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134024300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper is presented a fast space-vector algorithm with the purpose to avoid this issue. The presented algorithm is based in the reduction of the reference vector length and in the use of redundant states to produce balanced line output voltages when the converter is operating under a faulty condition. When compared with a well-known strategy from the literature, the results show its effectiveness and better performance.","PeriodicalId":442317,"journal":{"name":"2012 10th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133049727","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, a classical buck converter, an interleaved buck converter, and a three-state switching cell (3SSC) buck converter were analyzed. In order to best compare the performance of these topologies, the switching frequency, processed power, current ripple before the filter capacitor, and specification were considered equals for all tested configurations. A modular prototype of 1 kW, 200 Vdc / 60 Vdc was implemented, allowing to easily configure all topologies by just changing the magnetic components. From the experimental results, it was found that all studied converters present some current unbalance, being the less critical in the converter based on 3SSC.","PeriodicalId":442317,"journal":{"name":"2012 10th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115734603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

New technologies associated with smart grids will enable an increase in intermittent renewable sources connected to the power distribution system. D-STATCOM (Distribution Static Synchronous Compensator) provides the necessary resources to prevent technical problems in systems with high penetration of wind power plants. It makes possible the wind farms to meet the requirements of network connection as power factor, voltage output and fault ride through requirements, as well as increases the transmission capacity and the network stability. This paper presents the dynamic behavior obtained by computer simulation of a distribution grid at 34.5 kV with D-STATCOM and wind farms. The use of D-STATCOM contributed to increasing the stability margin of the system, allowing the permanence of the three wind farms during fault and post-fault conditions.","PeriodicalId":442317,"journal":{"name":"2012 10th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122844430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
