Solar heating and cooling systems convert thermal energy coming from the sun into electricity or heat to provide residential, commercial, and industrial areas with hot water, or to retain a specific required temperature. These technologies replace the classical fossil energy sources that are characterized by their damaging environmental impacts as well as their expensive costs. In this paper, we look at the ambitious solar projects that are already established or will be constructed in different countries of the ME and Turkey. Then, we discuss in brief most of the available technologies that rely on solar-based approaches for heating and cooling purposes. To overcome some challenges that may affect the performance of solar plants like cloudy or night environments, smart management techniques for interconnected units, or the cross-border power units of neighbored countries, are presented here and clarified by a case study. Finally, we conclude with a summary describing the most important features of our paper.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122928326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On this matter, the change of internal resistance is used as a feature to track battery SOH. Thus, we comparatively observed both AC and DC internal resistance methods to see which method has strong relationship individually. The results have shown that AC impedance measurement is highly dependent to internal and external status of cell while DC resistance measurements give us more precise results under the limited test abilities such as control of cell internal temperature. This could give advantage for basic battery management modules which cannot be able to handle complex analysis and reach internal status of the cell.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126922657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this regard, we have developed a Persuasive Energy Conscious Network (PECN) at the University of Glasgow to understand the user-centric energy consumption patterns in an agile workspace. PECN consists of desk-level energy monitoring sensors that enable us to develop user-centric models that can be exploited to characterize the normal energy usage behavior of an office occupant. In this study, we make use of staked long short-term memory (LSTM) to forecast future energy demands. Moreover, we employed statistical techniques to automate the detection of anomalous power consumption patterns. Our experimental results indicate that post-anomaly resolution leads to 6.37% improvement in the forecasting accuracy.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126807134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interest in this type of topology is becoming higher and its applications more relevant, as the use of energy sources with distinct voltage and current characteristics is diffused. Firstly, the converter was modeled and afterward three controllers have been designed: proportional-integral, fuzzy logic controller and state-feedback. Through simulation analysis, it was possible to validate the obtained model as well as assess the pros and cons from each control strategy employed for the chosen converter.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130370726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main substation is modeled in detail, as well as the high voltage and medium voltage equipment connected to this. The Wye-delta transformer is grounded by a Zig-Zag transformer on the delta side. However, records indicate that the grounding Zig-Zag transformer was damaged by high fault currents on the medium voltage side. An appropriate and feasible solution is proposed by simulating and analyzing the possible scenarios. PSCAD software is used to simulate the event and examine the proposed solution. The final step of the analysis is to validate the results related to fault currents using the real-time simulation tool, RTDS through RSCAD software.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134630027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IPS deliberated in this work is a widely used model of dual area hydro-thermal (DAHT) upon laying 10% perturbation of step load on area-1 (10%SLP) for investigation. Further, plug-in-electric vehicles (PEVs) are integrated into area-1 of DAHT for analysis purposes. DAHT responses are enhanced with the integration of PEVs. Nowadays, most of the problems relate to the high penetration percentage of renewable energy sources (RESs) to the power grid. The studied system is a composite of the two-area interconnected power systems. Each area is served by a combination of traditional units (i.e., a thermal unit, a hydro unit, and a gas unit). Furthermore, renewable power penetration has been considered in the two areas to form a hybrid power system. Moreover, a new meta-heuristic optimization algorithm named the weighted mean of vectors (INFO) has been applied to fine-tune the parameters of the proposed TID controller. The proposed TID controller is utilized to support the frequency stability of two-area multi-sources compared to other controllers in previous studies (i.e., PID controller in alignment with teaching learning-based optimization (TLBO) and TID based on interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA)) under different operating conditions. Additionally, the challenge of high RESs penetrating is proposed to test the TID controller effectiveness in achieving more stability in the targeted electricity network. The investigated simulation results are carried out utilizing the MATLAB/SIMULINK program, and these results elucidate that the proposed TID controller based on the INFO algorithm can enhance the frequency stability effectively while guaranteeing reliable performance considering various perturbations.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129391761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Variable DC input voltages are used to study the influence of input voltage on the LISN and conducted emissions. The time-frequency domain was shown to provide extra information to assess conducted emissions in addition to the time- and frequency-domain representations. PSIM software was used to model the system, and MATLAB was used to analyze the signals. Short-time Fourier transform (STFT) and spectrogram of the signal have been employed for the evaluation of conducted emissions. According to the results when the input voltage rose, the amplitude of the transmitted propagation decreased. In the future, the findings might be applied to the design of EMI filters.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"34 45","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114085682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the submersible pump motors run inside a fluid-filled environment and the fluid viscosity and density differ from the air, it causes an increased damping effect comparing air-filled machines. Hence, a non-negligible damping loss occurs. In this study, the damping effects of the fluids in a 24 slot LS-SynRM for various stator slot indentations are investigated with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) finite element analysis (FEA) to highlight the importance of the fluid damping loss in flooded machines. Results show that the damping loss can go as high as 10% of the motor output power when the stator surface has indentations, and this loss can be cut down to 3.5 % when the surface indentations are eliminated with custom no-slotting wedge structures.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126865945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
