In grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems, Comparative studies of MPPT methods in terms of THD injected into the network are of significant importance. In this paper, two conventional MPPT methods, perturb and observation (P&O) and incremental conductance (IC), and two advanced MPPT methods, fuzzy logic control (FLC) and Sliding mode control (SMC), were studied and compared in terms of currents injected THD into the grid using MATLAB/Simulink. The grid-connected PV system under consideration is a two-stage unit that includes a classical boost converter and a two-level voltage source inverter. With the FLC and SMC-based MPPT methods, the injected current's THD was 1.34% and 1.99%, respectively. The IC MPPT technique has slightly outperformed the P&O one, with a THD current of 3.48% versus 3.68%. The simulations were run under identical conditions; the superior performance of a particular MPPT technique over others is principally reflected in the dc-link voltage fluctuation.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128131756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To facilitate beamforming, the channel coefficients of the incoming and outgoing channels need to be estimated. In this study, the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) based channel estimation method is applied to an IRS-assisted communication system implementing Fifth Generation (5G) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) waveform in order to observe the effectiveness of the estimation method. DFT-based channel estimation has the advantage of not using the whole OFDM symbol for pilot transmission, thus it can be performed while transmitting data. Therefore, the effects of multipath delay spread, the number of REs, and training sequence sparsity in the OFDM symbol are observed for different Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) values with a direct path and without a direct path. The results show that delay spread has a significant effect on the performance and training sequence length can be reduced.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121650203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The optimal planning of DC microgrids directly impacts the operation and control algorithms; thus, coordination among them is required. The safe operation of DC microgrids has been ensured by different control techniques, such as centralized, decentralized, distributed and hierarchical control. This paper studies a DC-MG planning model. A time series and feedforward nonlinear autoregressive neural network (NARX) have been used for forecasting the load demand and level of solar Irradiance. Furthermore, the total operating cost has been minimized via optimization of the unit commitment problem while including the dynamic pricing of grid power. The system performance have been evaluated using MATLAB.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128230563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is a pressing need to evaluate and model these vulnerabilities in the network to avoid cascading failures in power systems. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a vulnerability assessment framework based on attack probability for the protection and security of a smart grid. Several factors were taken into consideration such as the probability of attack, propagation of attack from a parent node to child nodes, effectiveness of basic metering system, Kalman estimation and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). The IEEE-300 bus smart grid was simulated using MATPOWER to study the effectiveness of the proposed framework by injecting false data injection attacks (FDIA); and studying their propagation. Our results show that the use of severity assessment standards such as Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS), AMI measurements and Kalman estimates were very effective for evaluating the vulnerability assessment of smart grid in the presence of FDIA attack scenarios.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124737235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This requires the development of a flexible and standardized communication system in between individual Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) modules and production equipment. Therefore, we first derive the requirements for such a system in order to incorporate them in a generic communication concept. This concept focuses on the zero configuration and user-friendly expandability of the system, in which the communication unit is integrated in each WPT module. The paper describes the communication concept and discusses the advantages and disadvantages. The work concludes with an outlook on the practical implementation in a research project.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134215605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the electric system, directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) are widely incorporated. The primary and decisive goal of DOCRs is to keep healthy sections in operation and disconnect only the fault part rapidly. This problem contains many boundaries, in which different single-objective algorithms are suggested. The relay settings are defined as the decision variables for this optimization problem. A grey wolf optimizer (GWO), an enhanced version of grey wolf optimizer (EGWO), a whale optimization algorithm, and hybrid whale-grey wolf optimizer (HWGO), Equilibrium Optimizer (EO), and Flow Direction Algorithm (FDA) are used to solve coordination problems as a single objective function. The effectiveness and feasibility of the suggested techniques are evaluated using different networks Also, they are compared with other methods.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133348686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This integration is achieved via application of power electronic converters, leading to low inertia networks. A system with low inertia is deficient in maintaining system stability. In this context, voltage source converters with grid-forming control are proposed to provide inertia to the network which was previously provided by synchronous machines. However, the majority of grid forming control analysis ignores the DC side dynamics and transmission line parameters. In this paper, three grid forming control techniques with DC side dynamics are explored, and their interaction with the synchronous machine in low inertia test cases are presented. The test results are validated using MATLAB/Simulink simulation of a modified IEEE 9-bus system.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132189594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This electrical circuit can have five, seven, or nine parameters depending on the number of diodes. This paper discusses a novel method to extract the seven parameters of a double diode (DD) model based on datasheet parameters. The present approach combines genetic algorithms (GA) and analytical methods: Two parameters (photo-generated current and parallel resistance) are computed analytically, while the other parameters are optimized using the GA. The objective function used contains open circuit, short-circuit, and maximum power equations. The extracted seven parameters generated with this method are compared to those obtained through other methods. To assess the efficacy and reliability of the proposed approach, the P-V and I-V properties are evaluated using datasheet at various temperatures and solar irradiations. The results demonstrate a strong correlation; moreover, the Root Mean Square (RMSE) and the absolute error of current have been computed, and the model’s performance has been confirmed.","PeriodicalId":441321,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th Global Power, Energy and Communication Conference (GPECOM)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133439345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
