This is evident with the COVID-19 pandemic causing education to be adjusted to be 100% online. This technique affects many courses that are usually taught in class and requires some workshops for working in a team. Product development and design is a course that requires a lot of adjustment from working and learning in class to be online. However, there is no explanation to guideline about which online methods and applications are suitable for this course. This paper, therefore, aims to design an online learning course for two product development and design courses that have different teaching conditions and environments by applying different online methods and applications such as live teaching and video, google classroom, and the SUT X-lane. An assessment comes from the results of the survey and scores of assignments and exams. Results show that teaching by recording video and conference video have their potential and is suitable in different environments and conditions regarding participants and time. However, teaching methods are not the main factor for the efficiency of studying. Self-controlled is an important factor for learning, which is high in mature students. Assignments and workshops can be done online by working on an online platform such as Padlet, Zoom, and Line applications. Some tasks that require laboratory such as creating physical products however could not be fulfilled by the online platform. This should be achieved if the online course is expected for future education.","PeriodicalId":440758,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2022 3rd International Conference on Education Development and Studies","volume":"2013 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127418006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on Scopus database and Scival analysis tool, this paper analyzes the indexes such as the total number of papers published, the average annual number of papers, the frequency of citations, the trend of the number of papers published, the percentile of Citescore and Citescore, FWCI and the cooperation of papers in the journals of natural sciences of colleges and universities included by EI in the \"double first-class\" in China. The Journal of Tianjin University (NATURAL SCIENCE EDITION) is compared with the relevant data of these university journals. This paper quantitatively shows the development trend and competitiveness of the Journal of natural science of Tianjin University, explores the shortcomings of the journal, and puts forward the corresponding development strategies. Although there are obvious differences in academic quality among the 12 journals, they also have their own advantages and characteristics, but the overall influence and competitiveness are not optimistic. In the \"double first class\" construction process, journals of higher education institutions should determine their own positions and advantages according to their respective strengths. We should not only keep high-quality articles in higher education institutions, but also focus on the high-quality teaching materials of other schools related to the main fields of higher education institutions, strengthen scientific cooperation with international institutions and other higher education institutions, improve academic standards and enhance the international influence of magazines.","PeriodicalId":440758,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2022 3rd International Conference on Education Development and Studies","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131142968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research's goal was to look into the linkage among physical well-being, executive function, and cognitive outcomes, especially if the linkage between physical well-being and cognitive outcomes is direct or indirect through executive function. This is a cross-sectional study. 281 children aged 3 to 6 years were tested on gross motor skill, physical fitness, fine motor skill, executive function, visual organisation, and discrimination, reasoning skills, expressive and receptive vocabularies, and fundamental educational ability in this study.There was a substantial linkage between physical well-being and executive function (β=0.611, t=15.064, p<.001), executive function and cognitive outcomes (β=0.643, t=11.635, p<.001) in a partial least squares structural equation model connecting physical well-being to executive function as well as cognitive outcomes. Through executive function, there is a significant indirect link among physical well-being with cognitive outcomes (β=0.392, t= 8.970, p<.001). Executive function acted as a mediator among physical well-being with cognitive outcomes. This emphasises the significance of including executive function in studies of the correlation between physical well-being and cognitive outcomes in children.","PeriodicalId":440758,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2022 3rd International Conference on Education Development and Studies","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114641162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper selects the data of 500 public universities in China from 2014 to 2018 to empirically test the impact of governmental non-R&D funding on scientific research activities of universities and investigate the heterogeneity among universities at different level. Our results show that the governmental non-R&D funding can effectively promote the scientific research expenditure in universities, and the promotion effect is stronger in second-rank universities. Meanwhile, the non-R&D funding can significantly promote the scientific research output of universities. Furthermore, the non-R&D funding has a positive U-shape effect on the scientific research output efficiency of universities. That is, there is a certain threshold of the non-R&D funding, when the non-R&D funding exceeds this value, it is more conducive to promoting the improvement of the scientific research output efficiency of universities. However, the U-shape curve between non-R&D funding and scientific research output efficiency will be sharpened for the second-rank universities. That indicates the less-prestigious universities need to accumulate more non-scientific research funding in the early stage, but when the threshold value is reached, the positive impact of non-R&D funding on the efficiency will be greater.","PeriodicalId":440758,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2022 3rd International Conference on Education Development and Studies","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128510861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We conducted a linear regression analysis of the university enrollment rate and education expenditure as a percentage of GDP in 264 countries from 1970 to 2019. These data are all from the World Bank database. We found that in most cases, variable \"education spending as a percent of GDP\" is positively correlated with the variable \"enrollment in college\", which means the higher the percentage of a country's education expenditure to GDP, the higher the enrollment rate of its higher education institutions.","PeriodicalId":440758,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2022 3rd International Conference on Education Development and Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129667991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Motivation is key to keep language learners engaged in any language classrooms, but the opposite side of motivation have not been fully examined to avoid losing learners’ interest especially in learning reading. The study aims to explore major demotivating factors in learning reading through EFL learners’ perceptions. Both quantitative and qualitative methods were employed to gain insight into learners’ perceptions of the motivating factors. The study examined 121 EFL students by using a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire. The results indicated that demotivating factors were not perceived very high although negative feedback and the influence of themselves while learning reading were most considerable. From this finding, suggestions were drawn for both language learners and teachers as they should pay more attention to these demotivating factors to help students learn reading better as well as find best solutions to minimize the effects on those factors.","PeriodicalId":440758,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2022 3rd International Conference on Education Development and Studies","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127574559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main purpose of this study is to discover both the tutors’ and tutees’ perceptions of challenges faced during the online tutoring program in English courses. In addition, the reasons for struggling students’ refusal to this service are also investigated to assist them in the next semesters, and to improve the quality of training as a whole. Email interviews were conducted to collect the qualitative data. Responses were then coded and the main themes were identified for the analysis. The findings reveal that both tutors and tutees have positive perceptions of online tutoring. Various challenges have been identified, and recommendations were offered. The results of this paper are valuable for not only the stakeholders in the studied institution but also for any educational institutions that are considering this student support service.","PeriodicalId":440758,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2022 3rd International Conference on Education Development and Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127813784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
