The Relationship between Education Expenditure and College Enrollment Rate

Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the relationship between education expenditure and enrollment of college. We conducted a linear regression analysis of the university enrollment rate and education expenditure as a percentage of GDP in 264 countries from 1970 to 2019. These data are all from the World Bank database. We found that in most cases, variable "education spending as a percent of GDP" is positively correlated with the variable "enrollment in college", which means the higher the percentage of a country's education expenditure to GDP, the higher the enrollment rate of its higher education institutions.
