As the performance metric, Block error rate and throughput are evaluated in terms of Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) for different MIMO Schemes defined as in LTE. To achieve the high throughput required by the downlink LTE systems spatial multiplexing and transmit diversity transmission modes are used. The Block error rate (BLER) performance of the proposed systems is studied under different Multi-path channels. Simulation results show the under multipath channel, BLER of LTE system is effectively reduced by using transmission modes.","PeriodicalId":439852,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th World Congress on Information and Communication Technologies (WICT 2014)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127653408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Careful selection of data structures used and retrieval techniques play a significant role in efficiency of the whole system of data processing. Hashing technique is one very often used technique with O(1) run-time complexity for data storing and retrieval. A comparison of new technique for hash function construction is presented in the paper without need of division operation. The comparison of the proposed technique is especially convenient for large textual data sets processing. State of the art in hashing of textual data is given (the perfect hashing techniques are not included). The proposed hash function construction and hashing technique have been compared with other comparative techniques for different languages and textual data (chemical data sets etc.).","PeriodicalId":439852,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th World Congress on Information and Communication Technologies (WICT 2014)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127244546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Substandard data quality could impact quality of care in health facilities, lead to privacy and security issues, increase cost, create risks and decrease the benefits from using health information systems. The quality of data is essential, not only for use in patient care, but also for monitoring the performance of the health service and employees. Data collected and presented should be accurate, complete, reliable, comprehensible and accessible to data users. The purpose of the paper is to explore data quality challenges giving rise to substandard data quality in electronic health records. The challenges identified from literature can provide a reference for future health data quality interventions. To realise the purpose of this paper, an inductive content analysis methodology was followed.","PeriodicalId":439852,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th World Congress on Information and Communication Technologies (WICT 2014)","volume":"162 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129503247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increasing number of road users is proportionate with the increasing number of accidents, which could include fatalities. MERS 999 is an effort by the Malaysian government to integrate all the emergency number service system. Reporting accidents has its challenges; mainly there exist communication gap in relaying location information to the operator. This, in turn, causes slow response to the situation. In addition, airbag crash sensors cover only limited angles, which detects frontal and side collision. The objective of this paper is to develop an integrative system that is able to speed up the process of reporting accidents. Our prototype, named as Accident Location Detection System (AALDS) includes an accident locator device, accident management website and SMS system. A hardware prototype was developed using components like auto-dialer, accelerometer, GPS and GSM components. Haversine algorithm was modified to enable better efficiency in searching the nearest hospital to the accident location. Results from our system testing have revealed time saving of 60% in comparison to MERS 999. The functionalities of this system will enhance the current emergency response service by providing a platform for reporting and responding to accidents efficiently. This will enable the authorities to provide faster medical attention to the public, which will reduce fatality rate.","PeriodicalId":439852,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th World Congress on Information and Communication Technologies (WICT 2014)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129514813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, several issues need to be addressed, including data migration over bandwidth limited and high latency communication networks, and the heterogeneous nature of data obtained from the surveillance system. The aim of this paper is to develop a scalable and lightweight intelligent distributed surveillance system that make use of an integrated framework of Internet-of-Things (IoT) and cloud computing. It leverages on the pervasiveness in IoT and ubiquitous property of cloud computing technology. This paper introduces the concept of bringing cloud closer to the IoT in order to address the resource poverty of IoT and the dependency for massive data transmission to distant cloud. For providing real-time on-site object detection, this paper instantiates a cloudlet on resource-rich nearby infrastructure which is connected to the IoT devices for distributed retrieval and processing of critical and sensitive data.","PeriodicalId":439852,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th World Congress on Information and Communication Technologies (WICT 2014)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114648502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, image de-noising is an important task in image processing, thus the use of wavelet transform provides better and improved quality of an image and reduces noise level. For medical images, many wavelets like db1, sym8, coif1, coif3 etc can be used for de-noising of a medical image. However, in this paper, haar, sym8 daubechies db3 (mallat), daubechies db4 at certain level of soft and hard threshold have been calculated. Later, peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) values are calculated for these wavelet methods. These experiments help to select the best wavelet transform for the de-noising of particular medical images such as mammogram images.","PeriodicalId":439852,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th World Congress on Information and Communication Technologies (WICT 2014)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134512118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studied are native and foreign elements in a multi-class pattern recognition. Native elements are those included in recognized classes, they are known at the stage of classifier design. Foreign elements do not belong to recognized classes. Usually foreign elements are not known when classifier is designed. If foreign elements are classified to recognized classes, recognition quality is deteriorated. So then, they are classified to native classes, if they are not rejected. In such the case, recognition quality is deteriorated. Therefore, they should be rejected by a classifier, i.e. not classified to any class. Several attempts to rejection of foreign elements are investigated in this study.","PeriodicalId":439852,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th World Congress on Information and Communication Technologies (WICT 2014)","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116533787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Prediction results based on sEMG signals are promising because muscle contradiction can be easily characterized using sEMG signals. However, the prediction results usually deteriorate significantly when noise exist during data acquisition. Noise happens due to many factors ranging from hardware, software to procedure flaws. This investigation is aimed to assess the performance of the Least Square SVM model in predicting muscle fatigue using single channel sEMG signal. The root mean square, median frequency, and mean frequency features were extracted from two sets of raw sEMG signals captured at the multifidus (for low back pain) and flexor carpi radialis (for forearm muscle fatigue) muscles. The proposed LS-SVM technique were used to build the prediction rule-base separately for both the datasets. The implementation, testing and verification were performed in Matlab environment. The k-nearest neighbour and artificial neural network were used as the benchmarking techniques in results comparison and analysis. LS-SVM technique is proven good against the benchmarking techniques on classification accuracy and area under ROC curve. The ANOVA and Tukey HSD post hoc test were used to further validate the significant of the comparison results on both accuracy and AUC measurements.","PeriodicalId":439852,"journal":{"name":"2014 4th World Congress on Information and Communication Technologies (WICT 2014)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125708650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
