In this study, the popular HTPB binder was modified by introducing azide groups into the polymer chain during three different syntheses. Compounds with different content of explosive groups were obtained and tested for compatibility with the essential SHRP components: ammonium chlorate(VII) and dioctyl adipate. Then, preliminary application tests of the obtained HTPB derivative were carried out, showing the potential of the obtained energetic polymer and the possibility of its use as a binder in solid heterogeneous rocket fuels.\u0000\u0000 HTPB, energetic binder, azide groups\u0000\u0000

Until now, their use has been characteristic of the military conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently, IEDs are also used in the war in Ukraine. Their popularity is mainly due to easy access to explosives and pyrotechnics (e.g. from unexploded bombs), and chemical reagents, as well as specialistic knowledge that can be obtained online. These factors contribute to creation of effective means of combat, capable of destroying manpower and enemy's military equipment at a minimal cost and amount of work. Currently, problem of improvised explosives is particularly serious due to the fact that virtually everyone is able to make high-energy materials at home, using commercially available chemical reagents or obtaining them from unexploded explosives, and using simple tools. The matter is further complicated by the fact that, as a result of experiments, newer and newer explosives are created in "home laboratories". Those explosives are not yet widely known and tested, which increases the risk associated with IED. In this article, explosives used by terrorist groups and amateurs of pyrotechnics have been analyzed and characterized. The problem of universal access to knowledge and materials necessary to construct explosives was also discussed.\u0000\u0000

This development, in turn, forced the development of laboratory propulsion systems with hypersonic velocities, enabling the study and modelling of phenomena occurring at high impact velocities. Currently, to accelerate projectiles to hypersonic velocities, launching systems are applied that use the energy of the explosion of explosives or the combustion of liquid fuels, plasma, the energy of the electromagnetic field or light gases expanding. The work presents a review of the design solutions of various accelerators that enable the projectile to reach muzzle velocities above 3000 m/s. Particular attention has been paid to two-stage gas system, which uses light gases such as hydrogen and helium. The paper also presents the history and design of the first, and so far the only, Polish two-stage light gas gun developed at the Military University of Technology, with the help of which in 1973 a projectile weighing 0.5 g was fired at a speed of 4500 m/s. They are presented as all material, financial and organizational projects carried out by the public administration and, above all, by company owners. They were given the role that was directly necessary to ensure the survival and functioning of the state in a situation of security threats and in times of war, including support for their own and allied armed forces. It was assumed that merely the company owners and the economy are in a position of a key element of social security, regardless of conditions of defence readiness represented by the country. It is the economic sphere, supported by the administration, that has the most important role just in preparations of defence, and in limiting the country's sensitivity to the hostile environment. The process of operational planning was treated in a special way as an integral part of defence planning, i.e. a process of fundamental importance for the effective implementation of defence tasks. It was defined as the establishing of activities related to the preparation and operation of public administration bodies and company owners in conditions of external threats to state security and during the war, which are represented in the form of sets of operational tasks. Then, the issues related to the implementation of defence tasks by companies of special economic – defensive meaning were presented together with questions resulting from the Economy Mobilization Program and being the most important for the state's defence readiness. The tasks that companies have to fulfil under their defence obligations and the tools that enable them to do so have been reviewed. It was assumed that the Polish state made sure that this area was provided with appropriate legal and organizational solutions, and an attempt was made to evaluate and analyse some of them.\u0000\u0000
