We first introduce the theoretical concepts at the basis of the array description through an equivalent RLC circuit. Then, we develop a numerical test-case to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, constituted by resonant driving and receiving coils with an interposed spiral resonators array; finally, we compare full-wave simulations and analytical estimations. The observed excellent agreement between full-wave and analytically-retrieved impedance parameters demonstrates the efficiency of our procedure, encouraging further analysis.","PeriodicalId":438881,"journal":{"name":"2020 XXXIIIrd General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124830408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work copes with the estimation of electromagnetic field generated by UHF base stations in peculiar urban scenarios. To account for irregular geometries and to deal with the propagation in hilly town, the COST 231-Walfisch-Ikegami model is modified and rephrased in order to evaluate the path loss at distances greater than 20 meters from the base station in such peculiar urban environments. Measurements were carried out in the small urban and irregular built-up areas of Dorgali (NU), Cala Gonone (NU) and Lunamatrona (CA), Italy, to validate the model.","PeriodicalId":438881,"journal":{"name":"2020 XXXIIIrd General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129676312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Integrated non-volatile and solid state Conductive Bridging Random Access Memory (CBRAM) based Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) switches are used to realize the rewritable functionality. A solution to the primary challenge of requirement of obtaining very low ON states resistances $(sim lt 10 Omega)$ in case of an RF switch, for efficient operating conditions is addressed in this paper. Here we propose a reconfigurable resonator design with a ground plane, which could operate efficiently for higher ON state resistances $(sim gt 100 Omega)$ of a CBRAM/MIM RF switch. A technique of data encoding in electronically rewritable dipole resonators, by effectively modulating the impedance states of integrated CBRAM/MIM switches is presented herewith in detail. This example is presented through a model design of a 3bit rewritable chipless RFID tag.","PeriodicalId":438881,"journal":{"name":"2020 XXXIIIrd General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129690717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The 3D Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) woodpile has been created by precision dicing saws of silicon wafers. An appropriate air defect has been inserted at the structure central coordinates and optimized in size and shape in order to maximize the coupling between the TE10 mode of the standard rectangular Input/Output metallic waveguides and the TE10 - like mode of the EBG waveguide that propagates along the defect. The manufactured device, that includes custom metal-dielectric I/O transitions, exhibits an overall $vert S_{11}vert$ and $vert S_{12}vert$ scattering parameters of -32 dB and - 0.46 dB at the operating frequency of 96.6 GHz, which are in very good agreement with the simulated ones, obtained in Ansys HFSS.","PeriodicalId":438881,"journal":{"name":"2020 XXXIIIrd General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129731949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the possibility to design phased arrays featuring a radiation pattern that can be made self-sensitive to the level of received/transmitted power by the system will be demonstrated. Towards this end, a phased array exhibiting a directive pattern when operating for high-power signals while presenting an omnidirectional pattern for lowpower ones will be designed and numerically validated. This solution can be of particular interest for designing radar systems able to seamlessly/transparently switch between selectively scanning the environment when transmitting high power pulses, and omnidirectionally sensing the environment when handling low power scattered signals.","PeriodicalId":438881,"journal":{"name":"2020 XXXIIIrd General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129603967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
