All institutions of higher Education gear towards growing their capacity in both qualitative and quantitative domains as they seek to change positively the society within and without the HEIs jurisdiction. The growing need for visibility and demand for higher education has left many higher education institutions with a mirage of challenges on how to improve access while maintaining quality. This research focused broadly on; ranking determinants and development of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), and the impact and inter-relational effects the determinants of academic quality postulates on academic quality development, while comparatively critiquing the academic dynamics for University of Nairobi (UON) & Jiangsu University (UJS). Specifically, and regarding the ranking systems, academic quality of UJS and UON, certain contemporary study design guided current study. The depth, quality and reliability of ranking determinants as the nature of HEIs internal quality assessment and external visibility is investigated as it largely underscores on the nature and weight of ranking variances implored by the various ranking systems of HEIs a midst their developmental antecedents under higher academia to underscore the comparative significance, directions and (inter)-correlational characteristics amid UJS & UON’s contemporary higher education variances in their process of academic developmental antecedents and process. The research then delves at the impact of key parameters (teaching, research, attitude, performance and internationalization) on changing the academic quality of UON and UJS and on a comparative domain, finally the study tackles the effects of inter-relational associations of key parameters to the academic quality at both vertical and cross-section analogy in a bid to address their relevance and effects of academic quality and collaboration amid UON and UJS. The methodological underpinning implied to actuate the objectives is mixed in approach. Its qualitatively intensive where the quality and reliability of ranking systems is delved from a review process of the relevant literature concerning HEI’s, while an intensive-descriptive to qualitative review technique is implied resulting to a critical analysis of relevant literature. It is found that there are problems in party and academic affairs management in schools of private universities: outdated party and academic affairs management mode, unclear division of labor of party and academic affairs management personnel and a lack of professional informationization ability, lack of standardization in the process of management, lack of guidance and systematic training for the personnel, insufficient innovation of the performance appraisal system, complicated operation process of the management, huge impact of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools in the “Internet Plus” era, and big challenges from diversified Chinese-foreign cooperation school running modes in private universities. In this paper, we will put forth how to best improve the efficiency of party and academic affairs management during the “Internet Plus” era and the concept of “informationization management”; in order to effectively enhance its development within private universities. It is suggested that a hierarchical management mode should be adopted, party affairs office should strengthen the awareness of services, focus on the work assigned by the school and timely provide information about it, management personnel should strengthen theoretical knowledge, enhance competitiveness, improve work quality and efficiency, academic affairs management personnel should build WeChat public platforms for academic affairs management, and academic affairs office should effectively develop and apply the “smart campus” mobile app and constantly improve the performance appraisal and incentive system in order to ensure that the academic affairs management of schools of private universities is implemented in a timely manner under the background of the “Internet plus”.","PeriodicalId":438321,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Management Science and Engineering","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129436471","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To learn more about the underlying mechanism of line managers’ engagement in managing diversity and, thus, fostering inclusion in such settings, this study proposes and tests a model of male line managers’ experiences and traits on the one hand, and subordinates’ outcomes on the other. In addition, it investigates the role of lateral relationships at a male-dominated workplace. In a field study conducted from 172 pairs of line manager-subordinate dyads at a highly technical and male-dominated research institute in Norway, it was observed that male line managers’ experiences and traits did not relate to female subordinates’ perceived support nor inclusion. Further, the results show that perceived supervisor, but not co-worker, support contributes to female employees’ inclusion, while factors beyond workplace social support and inclusion predict their embeddedness in the job. Hence, the present study indicates that perceptions of line managers’ support are highly important for effective diversity management on the line in male-dominated occupations. Theoretical and practical implications, together with suggestions for future research, are discussed.","PeriodicalId":438321,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Management Science and Engineering","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131715891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a canvas would be a vital tool that provides added value to companies and innovators for various purposes: sharing, communication (internal and external), description, analysis, management, planning and partnering. In addition, a platform business model canvas helps follow a systematic but also pragmatic approach with regards to the transformation of a pipeline business to a platform business, the task to design a new platform or to describe an existing platform business model. The goal of this research is therefore to create a platform business model canvas that is easy to use and helps capture platform business models in a comprehensive and effective way following the Design Science Approach. The basic components/building blocks and the necessary perspectives for the platform business model canvas, are derived from literature. The need for three or more perspectives, is furtherly discussed on basis of Osterwalder’s business model canvas by outsourcing dimensions of control. Components and perspectives are subsequently verified through a qualitative analysis of the about-us-pages of 32 platform websites. According to Harbison, entrepreneurs are prime movers of innovation. Entrepreneurship is known for the high risks involved in launching a startup. The fact is people often suffer failures along the path to success, and some businesses have to close, due to a lack of fund, sales decisions, or a lack of demand in the market. That’s why entrepreneurship is mostly viewed as something risky and out of the comfort zone. Enterprise takes courage to make one’s dreams come true and see possibilities, solutions and opportunities for the future where others see only problems. Entrepreneurship is all about putting to better use the resources which are considered to be of low value with an aim of earning income. Economic growth is measured in terms of a sustained increase in real income. It is the entrepreneurial communities who complement and supplement the economic growth increase per capita income by identifying and establishing profitable business ventures. Entrepreneurs supplement the economic growth by enhancing the physical quality of life. Establishment of enterprises leads to increase in employment avenues both directly and indirectly. Consequently, poverty is alleviated as per capita income grows. This results in improving the physical quality of life which is an indicator of economic growth. Entrepreneurs help in the growth of infrastructural facilities such as roads, bridges, buildings, factories, etc. which are the cornerstones of economic growth. Establishment of factories and industries in a particular locality presupposes the growth of infrastructural facilities.","PeriodicalId":438321,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Management Science and Engineering","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129227418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The background of big data brought by cloud computing and big data has increased the random disturbance effect on technology incubation platform. The failure of some technology incubation platforms has caused academic controversies. This paper conducts theoretical research and empirical test for these academic controversies, and the empirical conclusions of this paper provide a more comprehensive and reasonable explanation for current academic controversies. In order to describe the failure phenomena of technology incubation platform, this paper innovatively proposes the concept of failure effects and failure coefficients, constructs failure effects model and deduces the failure mechanism formula by using the principle of Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA). On the basis of literature research, combined with the background characteristics of the big data, 4 dependent variables and 14 random influence variables were selected, and the Chinese technology incubator platform was taken as an example to empirically analyze failure effects model. The paper finds that the independent variables can be divided into three categories: positive, negative and partially irrelevant. When corresponding to negatively correlate variables or unrelated variables, dependent variables will show the failure phenomenon, that is, partial failure of technology incubation platform.","PeriodicalId":438321,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Management Science and Engineering","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114941800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, despite their pivotal roles in Nigeria Health Care Delivery System, they continue to suffer neglect from government. This paper attempts to investigate the activities of this cultural trade with a view to foreground its contribution to the society. Multistage sampling procedures were used in the study. 72 Traders were randomly selected in 6 Local Government Development Areas of Ondo state, Nigeria. In addition, 504 clients were interviewed but 21 respondents, not well captured were rejected, remaining 483 clients. The questionnaires were analyzed using chi square analysis. Descriptive statistical techniques (frequency and percentages) were used to summarize the data collected. Secondary data were extracted from books, journals and other relevant publications. The study revealed that Cultural Herb Trade is predominantly dominated by women. The Traders have low entrepreneurship orientation, displaying their wares under sheds in the public markets; earning less than US$1000 as profit yearly. They claimed inability to access loan from support institutions due to their poor financial literacy and abandonment. The findings showed that socio-economic attributes of Cultural Herbs Traders had significant effect on their performance (x2 = 6.162877, df = 2, pr = 0.029). The findings also showed significant relationship between the treatment modalities of Cultural Herb Traders and their performance (Person x2 = 50.18154 Pr = 0.000). Moreover, there existed significant relationship between the networking strategies of Cultural Herb Traders and performance (x2=44.63424, df = 2, pr=0.0009). It was found that Cultural Herb Traders provided both preventive and curative health care services with significant association between performance and patronage by clients (x2=254.8922, df = 6, pr=0..000), especially in the areas of malaria, infertility and small pox diseases to mention a few. 94% of the Clients indicated their continuous support to patronize the Traders because their medicines were efficacious. 89% of the clients/customers/buyers signified their intention to increase their patronage because of the good performance of their treatment. The study concluded that in spite of the prominence of these cultural herb traders, there is inadequate financial and research assistance from academia and corrupt government. Thus, Local Government may want to increase their research budgets to embrace modernization of cultural herbs trade sector.","PeriodicalId":438321,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Management Science and Engineering","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116609953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The extracted text information is then further converted to number through a series of data transformation and then analyzed through text analytics models for decision-making problems. Among the text analytics models, one particular common and popular one is based on Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), which is a topic model method with the topics being clusters of words in the documents associated with fitted multivariate statistical distributions. However, these models are often poor estimators of topic proportions. Hence, this paper proposes a timely topic score technique for social media text data visualization, which is based on a point system from topic models to support text signaling. This importance score system is intended to mitigate the weakness of topic models by employing the topic proportion outputs and assigning importance points to present text topic trends. The technique then generates visualization tools to show topic trends over the studied time period and then further facilitate decision-making problems. Finally, this paper studies two real-life case examples from Twitter text sources and illustrates the efficiency of the methodology.","PeriodicalId":438321,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Management Science and Engineering","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121783755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
