In addition to domestic Korean beef, consumers encounter various alternatives such as the U.S. and Australian beef in the beef market, and purchase them in consideration of their preferences and economic conditions. The selection attributes among various beef types might be interdependent between alternatives. The issue at hand is how to incorporate consumers considering other alternatives in their purchasing decisions. This study implements the multivariate probit model of Hanwoo beef, U.S. beef, and Australian beef that assesses how consumers’ characteristics and perception of beef attributes influence consumer beef purchasing decisions. Results show that significant correlations exist between origins of beef in the purchase decision, suggesting underlying complementary preferences among various beef origins. Taste and nutrition are found as the key factors in the purchasing decision of hanwoo beef, whereas safety and price are not. Moreover, the results reveal that consumers who regularly consume imported beef frequently purchase Hanwoo beef, meaning that there is a possibility to consider either Hanwoo beef or imported beef depending on the purpose of a dish to be cooked at home. Socioeconomic factors like age, income, family size, marital status and residential region significantly determine consumers’ shopping frequency of Hanwoo beef.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128648583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The feed industry has raised the feed prices by 15~20% along with the price increase. The higher corn price and increased volatility should affect the profitability of feed companies and the value of the companies listed in the stock market. It is interesting to know whether the corn price increases hurt the feed companies as much as livestock farms as the feed prices rises. This study seeks to determine the effects of the price of corn prices on the equity prices of feed companies in Korea using the multivariate GARCH-in-mean model. The model also includes the exchange rate and freight rates to see how the market responses to these important factors affecting the profitability of the industry. The results show that the size and direction of impacts of those factors are somewhat different, suggesting separate hedge plans for the feed companies and strategies for stabilizing feed price.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122315380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis on the factors affecting the satisfaction level with the working conditions of the entire economy is also conducted and the results are used as an comparable indicator. For analysis, Korean Working Conditions Survey data and an ordered probit model are used. Based on the findings of the analysis, the factors constituting the working conditions in the agricultural sector are classified by type, and priorities requiring urgent improvement are presented. Among the working conditions in the agricultural sector, it was found that the factors that lowered the satisfaction of the workers while being poor compared to other industries were exposure to high temperatures, handling of heavy objects, working in a sitting position, and insufficient provision of health and safety related information.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123872482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to test the hypotheses, this study used a sample of 157 young farmers under the age of 39 who grow strawberries nationwide. The results are as follows. First, as a result of verifying the hypothesis on the effect of young farmers’ personal characteristics (innovation, technical competency, self-efficacy) on perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, the hypothesis for the innovation was adopted because it directly affected perceived usefulness. And, the hypothesis for the self-efficacy was adopted because it directly affected perceived young farmers’ environmental characteristics (network, social influence) on perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, the hypothesis for the network was rejected because no significance was secured in both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. On the other hand, the hypothesis for social influence was adopted because it directly affected perceived ease of use. Third, As a result of verifying the hypothesis on the relationship among the perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude toward using, and intention to accept technology, the hypothesis was adopted as it was shown that perceived ease of use had a direct effect on perceived usefulness, perceived usefulness had a direct effect on attitude toward using, and intention to accept technology, and perceived ease of use and attitude toward using, had a direct effect on the intention to accept technology. Summarizing this study, it was analyzed that innovation and selfefficacy among the personal characteristics of young farmers, and social influence among the environmental characteristics of young farmers influenced the acceptance intention of innovative technology. Based on these research results, policy implications for fostering young farmers as the subject of agricultural innovation were presented.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"309 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121834312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In overall, our results present that agricultural investment and loan had a long-run positive effect on value of production, productivity, agricultural income, self-sufficiency, and price volatility. However, the effects of investment and loan are focused on livestock sectors and labor productivity has not improved by those policies. Those results imply the policy of investment and loan in the agricultural sectors has some rooms to be improved. In turn, the government of Korea should redesign the policy of investment and loan in the agricultural sector to improve those policies effects to come up following mega-FTAs trends such as RCEP and CPTPP.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132429253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We discovered that beneficiaries can achieve a higher level of welfare when benefits are paid through electronic vouchers. Also, we proved that the welfare effects of adopting an e-voucher system are higher among consumers who are currently supported by electronic voucher programs compared to others.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"2013 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129764952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to climate change, the traditional concept of main producing areas has been weakened, and crops that were not cultivated in the past are being cultivated in unexpected regions. To estimate and analyze the change in land allocation with six crop groups, we used a fractional multinomial logit (FMNL) model. Because the dependent variable which is a share of land acreage is a number between zero and one, FMNL model leads to efficient estimators. Estimation results show that income per 10ha for each crop group increased the proportion of choosing the crop except for fruits and rice. As the average summer temperature rises, the ratio of land allocation for pulse crops and root & tuber crops increases, and as precipitation increases, the proportion of spring vegetable cultivation is expected to increase. We also examined the patterns of centroid shifts of crop groups and predicted the movement which is expressed in latitude and longitude under climate change scenarios. It was predicted that most crops would move northeast toward 2070. Therefore, it is necessary to adapt to climate change by expanding R&D and education in response to changes in crops allocation for each local government.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122825093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
