For this purpose, we estimated a two-way error components model based on panel data of financial statements for health functional foods manufacturers, considering time effects. Our empirical evidence suggests that both industry-level and firm-level strategies are needed for individual firms to gain a competitive advantage by enhancing their profit performance. In response to competition intensification within the health functional food industry, they should consider the following efforts to increase profit performance to secure a competitive advantage: (1) expanding the firm’s size, (2) increasing market share, (3) realizing leverage effect through efficient capital management, (4) enhancing the advertising effectiveness, and (5) improving the efficiency of resource management.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129632252","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, we classify main works by each production stage and then we evaluate difficulties and lengths of major works by cross-check. Finally we investigate real working hours of each main work in twenty paprika smartfarms. Based on the real data of working hours, we utilize a cluster analysis using the K-means algorithm and Silhouette method in order to categorize paprika smartfarms. The results from the K-means cluster analysis show that sixteen farms were clustered into ten groups. We conclude that each farm was not clearly categorized.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121249778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering that high-income countries have stricter regulations on food production and greater consumer preferences for safe food products, countries’income level might have an important role in determining the quality of food products. Therefore, higher-income countries have possibly been exporting their food products to similar-income-level countries because of the greater consumer preference for safer food products. In this paper, we examine how income similarity between countries affects the trade flow of food products using a large-panel data set covering 2000 to 2018. We found that income similarity has an important role in the trade of food products and the Linder effect is larger than in the other industries we consider in this study. These results support the Linder hypothesis and imply that we need to consider income similarity an important variable in future research in food trade and when establishing a food exporting strategy.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124156921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The repurchase right is currently prescribed in three acts, the Civil Act, the Act on Acquisition of and Compensation for Land for Public Works Projects, and the Korea Rural Community Corporation and Farmland Management Fund Act. However, there are some differences in meaning, validating points and conditions, and related entities of respective law. In 2020 the article prescribing the 10-year redemption right of the Act on Acquisition of and Compensation for Land for Public Works Projects was adjudicated that the article is not compatible with the property right of the Constitution by the Constitutional Court of Korea. Upon the adjudication, the question has arisen whether it affects the repurchase right of the Korea Rural Community Corporation and Farmland Management Fund Act or not. If it does, the related article should be revised and the related policy should also be changed. However, if it does not, the government and the corporation can keep the current policy without any change in the article. Reviewing the applicability of the adjudication to the Korea Rural Community Corporation and Farmland Management Fund Act, it is concluded that the redemption right of the Act is different from that of the Act on Acquisition of and Compensation for Land for Public Works Projects and that there is no need to apply the adjudication to agriculture.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131344351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The satisfaction of urban to rural migrants was divided into two factors, economic satisfaction and life satisfaction. A nationwide survey of 466 urban to rural migrants was conducted and a seemingly unrelated bivariate ordered probit model was estimated. The results show that the factors affecting economic satisfaction are economic motivation, migration with family, having debt, affinity with neighbors, time to participate in agricultural education, number of participation in local activities, and satisfaction with living expenses. The factors affecting life satisfaction are economic motivation, having debt, number of participation in local activities, satisfaction with living expenses, relationship with neighbors, and family support. The results also indicate that the increase in annual income improves economic and living satisfaction. The results of this study may contribute more implications and useful information to the government’s policy for urban to rural migration.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125611525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis was carried out through two steps: 1) recipient farms’ consumption pattern has been investigated taking into account demographic characteristics, 2) then the estimated consumption changes have been integrated with Input-Output Table to estimate the scheme’s economic effects. The results indicate that the benefit-cost ratio is as large as 1.95, and that the scheme is anticipated to provide 12,705 job opportunities. Put together, the legitimacy of implementing the scheme may be underpinned grounded on its contribution for invigorating local economies.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116818859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Young Farming Project is a major project of the youth farmer support policy, targeting young farmers who want to start a new independent farming by further developing the existing succession farm selection project. In our laws and regulations, agricultural holdings are defined as farmers and agricultural corporations, and individual economic units, such as youth successors, are targeted for support. However, since there are various individual economic units within the agricultural holdings, it is necessary to try the business target from various angles in the policy project to introduce new farmers from the outside. In this study, the production unit called the young successor farm, which has the characteristics of the production unit called the family farm, is identified as an individual production unit called the farmhouse, and its characteristics are examined through the concept of the family farm business. In Korea, we are used to understanding family farm and corporate farm as opposite concepts, but in the West, family farm and corporate farm are no longer viewed as opposing concepts due to the past debate on the existence of family farm, and the focus is on how family relationships and business activities are regulated within the farmhouse. By understanding family farm through the concept of a family business, it will be possible to provide a richer perspective for policy improvement in the future.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134184763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, the management efficiency of domestic racehorse producers was analyzed, and based on this, a plan for efficient farmhouse management was suggested. In this study, inputoriented DEA analysis was performed on a total of 48 farms, including 42 farms in Jeju island and 6 farms in inland. As a result of the overall DEA analysis, the overall average of the technical efficiency of the rarms was 0.35, indicating that the overall management efficiency of the racehorse breeding farms was very low. If we divide this into pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency, it was analyzed that the pure technical efficiency was 0.5 and the scale efficiency was 0.67. The pure technical efficiency of farmhouses in Jeju was 0.51, slightly higher than 0.44 in the inland area, while the scale efficiency in Jeju was 0.67, slightly lower than 0.73 in the inland area. When Jeju region was divided into three groups according to total income and management efficiency index was compared accordingly, the upper group showed the highest technical efficiency with 0.49, the middle group with 0.36, and the lower group with the lowest with 0.2. Comparing the pure technical efficiency, the middle-lower group was lower than the upper-level group, indicating that measures to improve the management inefficiency of the middle-lower group are urgently needed.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129701932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
