Recently, due to the rise in international grain prices, the increase in feed costs, a major factor in the production costs of domestic pig farms, has pressured the management situation of farmers. Higher production costs due to higher grain prices will reduce the supply of pork, thereby increasing market prices and decreasing market transactions. Accordingly, consumer welfare and producer welfare also decrease. Furthermore, the increase in production costs has a different effect on the degree of productivity of farmers. In particular, the lower the productivity of farmers, the greater the burden of increasing production costs. In this paper, we also analyzed how the effect of increasing production costs varies depending on the degree of productivity of farmers.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115267076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result of the analysis, it was found that the infection spread condition (basic reproduction number of 1 or more) was satisfied in all regions where the HPAI transmission rate was estimated. In addition, it was found that the size of the region and the type of poultry raising in the region had a statistically significant effect on the HPAI transmission rate. Based on the findings, the implications are presented as follows. First, more stricter quarantine measures are needed to prevent the spread of HPAI in areas where basic reproduction number and HPAI transmission rate are consistently high. Second, in order to reduce the risk of HPAI spread, it is necessary to shorten the time from identification of infected farms to culling. Third, it is necessary to further strengthen biosafety in regions with relatively small area, many duck farms and poultry, and many paddy fields.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128626915","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The empirical model is applied to the trade data from 2005 to 2019 for 153 countries. We added the Korean Wave as a proxy variable by collecting Korean content service exports, which include music, dramas, and movies available on streaming sites and online video services, reflecting the recent shift in media platforms. We split the data into country groups and use the Poisson Pseudo Maximum Likelihood (PPML) to solve zero-trade data. Our findings show that the Korean Wave has a impact on both agricultural products and processed foods. Specifically, agricultural products are strongly influenced by the Korean Wave in Asia, while processed foods are influenced by more diverse continents. This suggests that the Korean Wave has a significant effect on agricultural food exports. We believe our study will be used as a fundamental study to prepare measures to increase agricultural exports through analysis by country.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126532798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through the sentiment analysis of FMD from 2005 to 2020, the Media tone index was used as a proxy variable to conduct VECM analysis. In particular, the long-term and short-term impact relationships were compared and analyzed, focusing on before and after the introduction of the Korea Animal Health Integrated System (KAHIS), which prepared the government’s systematic response system for epidemic prevention and control of livestock diseases. As a result of the analysis, after the introduction of the KAHIS, the positive media reports gradually increased in the media tone index on livestock epidemics. In addition, it was found that the adjustment of the livestock product distribution policy and food safety management system contributed to reducing the range of price fluctuations at each distribution stage.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"201 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116166521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the more specific discussion, three scenarios was set up as follows: (1) Introduction of Onion TRQ, (2) Introduction of Garlic TRQ, and (3) Introduction of Onion and Garlic TRQ. As the result of analyses, introducing TRQ causes the increase of import, and then decreases of domestic price and production which result in the decrease of producers’ income. The scenario 2 had a greater impact on the market of substitutes than scenario 1. Scenario 3 had a greater change on supply, demand and price than scenarios 1 and 2. These results present that the introduction of Garlic TRQ should be concerned more carefully than the Onion TRQ. Moreover, while the simultaneous introduction of TRQ in agricultural products with a production substitution relationship can stabilize prices, it increases the volatility of supply and demand. Also, the market size of the onion was reduced than garlic. This study is the practical research using the TRQ plan announced by the government and applied the EDM which is easy to change and expand the target market. Discussions on the results of this study can provide political guidelines and implications for establishing the TRQ plan.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116697655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, the supply and demand and price were predicted by considering the life cycle of broilers from the Parents Stock to the slaughter stage using Vector Error Correction Model and the Gated Recurrent Unit, based on the data for the last 10 years. Factors that did not affect the dependent variable were excluded through multiple regression analysis during the prediction process. As a result of the supply and demand forecasting, it was found that the forecast results through Vector Error Correction Model showed a small deviation compared to Gated Recurrent Unit. However, in the case of Gated Recurrent Unit, However, in the case of Gated Recurrent Unit, it was found that the accuracy of the prediction values and the similarity of the patterns improved as the number of learning times increased. On the other hand, in both models, the accuracy of the price prediction result was found to be quite low. For more accurate prediction, it is necessary to increase the size of the data through shortening of the data generation cycle and data segmentation for each broiler life cycle.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116338880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Price transmission is an essential indicator to understand a market system. To evaluate asymmetric price transmission between two spatial markets, the Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) model was applied in the study. The four major provinces such as Quito, Latacunga, Riobamba and San Gabriel of potato production are selected and spatial market data are collected from the System of Agriculture Pubic Information in Ecuador. The study found that there exist asymmetric price transmissions between Riobamba and Latacunga, and Riobamba and San Gabriel for long and short run. Quito and Latacunga, and Riobamba and Quito showed asymmetric price transmission for long run, but not for short run. The positive and negative effects of the long-run relationship between Riobamba and Quito and between Riobamba and San Gabriel are bigger than between other spatial markets. In addition, there is an additional purpose of research to derive a plan to expand the adoption of renewable energy. 347 farms participated in the survey, and the analysis method used an ordered probit model and marginal effect analysis. From the analysis results, it was confirmed that in order to expand the adoption of renewable energy by farmers, it is necessary to expand the subsidy support project for facility costs. In addition, if the government provides priority support to low-income farmers who grow food crops, it can be expected to expand the inflow of farmers. Finally, it is important to provide farmers with various information related to renewable energy. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare a “Farm Renew-able Energy Management Model” that includes related to the income increase effect of farmers.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126847196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

GJR-GARCH is employed to analyze the asymmetric price volatility in response to good and bad news. And two competing hypotheses, mixed distribution hypotheses (MDH) and sequential information arrival hypothesis (SIAH), are utilized to test how information dissemination affects price volatility through trading volume. The results reveal that calendar effects exist in both the volatility and the rate of change in Hanwoo price. In particular, after the implementation of a five-day week, a decreasing rate of price is higher on Monday than on any other days of the week and Tuesday shows the highest price increasing rate. And also unlike the financial market, Hanwoo price exhibits a reverse leverage phenomenon in which price volatility decreases when bad news occurs. This asymmetry rapidly reduces the effect of short-term shock, but the shock persists for a long time.","PeriodicalId":438099,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Agricultural Management and Policy","volume":"09 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127219391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
