Victims of violence can be anyone,of any age. Women who have witnessed or experienced violence have many similarities in terms of form, time, place and object of violence. When witnessing violence, most women actively seek information and support from responsible organizations (policeorviolence victim support services), but when experiencing violence, the mentality of hiding remains commonamong the victims,ortheyonly shared withtheirfamilywithout seeking help from the authorities. Gender-based violencehas significantimpacts on the victims,both physically and mentally,especially psychologically,causing them to fear, lose sleep, loseconfidence and limit social communication.","PeriodicalId":437338,"journal":{"name":"UED Journal of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124274612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Having reviewed typical authors and works, we divide the history of philology research into three periods: French studies, Russian studies, and Vietnamese studies. Focusing mainly on the Vietnamese study period, we conducted a survey of philologists under 70 years old with internationally published works in two groups - WoS/Scopus journals and Other journals - and have reached the following conclusions: 1. Domestically trained philologists have made international publications 4 times more than those who are trained abroad; 2. Due to the relatively high likelihood of publishing works internationally in quite a short time (focusing on more than 50 WoS/Scopus articles in the past 5 years), we propose the Ministry of Education and Training prescribe regulations in doctoral training, that is, supervisors and PhD students must have WoS/Scopus papers to further promote university and national rankings; and 3. The government needs to review the schemes for sending people to study abroad. In the field of philology, studying abroad hardly brings the expected effect, so instead, the Ministry of Education and Training could spend that amount of money to invest in strong philological research groups in the country. Supervisors should be responsible for training and sending their students to practice or study abroad, if necessary.","PeriodicalId":437338,"journal":{"name":"UED Journal of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128211314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results show that, from 1858, with the plot to annex and establish a colony in Vietnam, the French colonialists allied with Spain to attack Da Nang. After defending the Nguyen dynasty, the French colonialists quickly planned and setted up concessions in the Tonkin and Central of Vietnam. Da Nang from a provincial administrative unit under the Nguyen dynasty became a concession area with its own legal, administrative and regulatory system of the French colonial government. Based on the research results, the article will contribute to clarifying the difficulties and challenges of the French colonialists in the early invasion of Vietnam. In addition the article will point out the French colonialists' attempts to force the Nguyen dynasty to sign treaties to turn Da Nang into a concessions area.","PeriodicalId":437338,"journal":{"name":"UED Journal of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115163416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the current study, we explore these two issues with Vietnamese university students. The levels of self-esteem and depression were assessed with a sample of 859 university students drawn from three universities in central Vietnam. The results showed that Vietnamese university students have moderate self-esteem and most do not suffer from depression. As expected, the male students reported significantly higher self-esteem than theirfemale fellows; however, the female students reported higher levels of depression than the male ones. The results also revealed that self-esteem was negatively correlated with depression. The research contributes to the understanding of the gender differences between the two mental health factors and the relationship between them among Vietnamese university students. These findings are important to the development of intervention strategies that help improve self-esteem and prevent depression in university students.","PeriodicalId":437338,"journal":{"name":"UED Journal of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129587254","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the reality-fantasy relationship, the world of chuanqi characters can be divided into two main groups: fantasy characters and earthly characters (people in the real life). They represent two realms: of unreality and of reality. Fantasy character is a surreal character with mystical capacity and strange traits. From the rational perspective, this type of character absolutely does not exist in real life. By contrast, earthly character are people who exist in daily life with ideals, ambitions, happiness and suffering. The presence of two types of characters clearly demonstrates the realistic portrait in the status of the unreal and real invasions, which deeply consists of their own imprints in the Chuanqi genre. From the world of characters in Vietnamese medieval Chuanqi genre, the evolution of this genre is also revealed.","PeriodicalId":437338,"journal":{"name":"UED Journal of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127870477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patterns of bad governance which have sunk into the marrow of political vultures causing countries to wallow in socio-political and economic degradation are equally identified. The paper further contends that the socio-political perspective can be transformed if the masses choose to rise against “political vultures” who desecrate the servant-leadership policy. Consequently, this paper advocates a servant-leadership approach as a major prerequisite for leadership scramble for the socio-political and economic buoyancy of the society. Adopting contextual analysis as its analytical standpoint, the paper, through the lens of servant-leadership theory, elaborates the fact that A Parliament of Vultures exhibits common realities in Nigeria’s political landscape as well as the projection of drama as a channel of raising awareness and conscientizing the people, hence, the place of theatre of conscientization in Nigerian dramaturgy.","PeriodicalId":437338,"journal":{"name":"UED Journal of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128205575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
