The Adventure of Augie March by Saul Bellow is a good example of the return of this genre in the twentieth century. The novel tells the story of the varied and often aimless pursuits of a young man, Augie, growing up in the decades before and during the Great Depression, the great economic cataclysm of the 1930s. Using poetic and sociological research methods, this article focuses on clarifying the characteristics of the picaresque novel in The Adventure of Augie March. This style writing manifested in the plot of the journey, depicting a chaotic world where the main character Augie March - a typical pícaro character in modern life - become a solitary individual, an anti-hero man always seeking out the reason for his existence. The first-person autobiographical narrative and the satire are also classic principles of picaresque genre that can be found in this novel. It can be sail, The Adventure of Augie March is a rebirth of the picaresque novel genre in Saul Bellow's own way to convey contemporary problems. Literature has shown that emotional intelligence (EI) can reduce mental health problems among youth. Evidence has shown that about three million Vietnamese young people are experiencing mental health problems, but only 20% of them received necessary medical assistance and treatment. This study investigates EI among Vietnamese youth to promote effective and practical solutions to improve young people's mental health and emotional capacity in Vietnam. This is a cross-sectional school-based study using the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form (TEIQue-SF) to assess emotional intelligence of students at Hue University. The findings reveal that students at Hue University had relatively high EI with good ability in well-being, self-control emotions, and building relationship with others. Maintaining relationships and reacting appropriately to others' feelings were the lowest ability. Students at the University of Education had better EI than those at other university institutes due to some EI aspects of the educational curriculum. Males were better than females in Self-control. There was no difference in EI between students from rural and urban areas. In Vietnam, so far, there has been no research on the social-emotional competence of hearing-impairedchildren. This paper aims to evaluate the reliability of the DASSE mini scale in using it to assess the social-emotional competence of children with hearing loss. This study used SPSS.20 software to evaluate the reliability and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) of the scale. A cross-sectional study on assessing social-emotional competence with the DASSE mini scale was conducted on 50 hearing-impaired students aged 6-12 years with varying degrees of impairment. The results of the evaluation of predictive validity show that the scale has high reliability and has good and suitable predictive value: Cronbach's Alpha = 0.928, KMO = 0.869 (> 0.05), sig. = 0.000 (sig Bartlett's Test < 0.05). The average score of the DASSE mini scale is: Mean =16.67. There are 56% of the students with social-emotional competence scores in the range of \"Typical scores\" and 44% with scores of \"Need for instruction\". Vo Van","doi":"10.47393/jshe.v11i2.1006","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.47393/jshe.v11i2.1006","url":null,"abstract":"There is a theory that explains the origins of Campā (Champa) by rendering a paradigm in which a kingdom referred to as Xi-Tu emerged in the Thu Bồn valley (a part of Quảng Nam Province today in central Việt Nam) around the 3rd century CE, and then absorbed the Lin-Yi kingdom by the end of the 6th century, resulting in what today is known as Champa. In contrast to this assumption, this paper uses both historical and archeological evidence to show that there was, in fact, no such a kingdom in the Thu Bồn valley in the 6th century. Instead, the evidence shows that from the beginning of the 4th century Lin-Yi conquered many small neighbouring kingdoms, including Xi-Tu (if it in fact existed). Champa, or Campā, was the Sanskrit name used by the ruling class of the Kingdom of Lin-Yi to refer to their territory (Lin-Yi is the name derived from Chinese historical documents). The discussions concerning the existence of Xi-Tu aim to clarify the nature of the birth of the polity with Indic influences located on the coast of Indochina,known as Champa. Determining the cradle of Champa, once known to be in the territory of Lin- Yi, could lead to a better understanding of the growth of this kingdom, with its unique historical and geographical background.
