The use of this measurement technique is demonstrated on a case where crosstalk occurs between two wire pairs above ground. S-parameter measurements involve no elements that introduce frequency restrictions, such as baluns or current clamps. Moreover, by measuring or simulating all combinations of S-parameters and converting these to mixed-mode S-parameters, not only differential-mode (DM), but also common-mode (CM) and mode-conversion S-parameters are obtained. When only the coupling between a specific combination of cables is desired, it is sufficient to measure only a small subset of all S-parameters. Finally, the relation between crosstalk as defined in the standards and the obtained S-parameters is discussed.","PeriodicalId":436679,"journal":{"name":"2019 ESA Workshop on Aerospace EMC (Aerospace EMC)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132920674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to the long measurement time per position of the EMI test receiver, although the introduction of time domain electromagnetic interference (TDEMI) analyzers already created serious reduction in measurement time. The limited amount of measurement positions around an EUT means however that the maximum interference can be missed at certain positions around the EUT, creating an underestimation of the maximum emission. With the use of a low cost baseband digitizer this paper realizes a continuous positional measurement around an EUT. This measurement presents the maximum emission of the interference by considering every position around the EUT.","PeriodicalId":436679,"journal":{"name":"2019 ESA Workshop on Aerospace EMC (Aerospace EMC)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131668333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It acts as a radiated EMC model of rectangular cavities regularly used in aeronautics and spaces electronic systems. The KB equivalent graph combining the low- and high-frequency (LF/HF) EM radiations, is established based on the enclosure geometry. The tensorial expression of the enclosure impedance metric translated from the graph is proposed to estimate the shielding effectiveness (SE) at any point inside the enclosure. The proposed hybrid model is applied to a rectangular enclosure with rectangular aperture illuminated by EM plane wave bandwidth from very LF and the enclosure first TM mode.","PeriodicalId":436679,"journal":{"name":"2019 ESA Workshop on Aerospace EMC (Aerospace EMC)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116734814","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the analysis and the approach developed to assess the coupling of electromagnetic (EM) fields through apertures implemented on the panels of a multi-cavity Payload in order to analyse the radiated self-compatibility within the satellite. This approach allows to assess the transmission coefficient between the adjacent cavities via a simple proportional relationship with the apertures surfaces, without the knowledge of the theoretical transfer function of each aperture, and regardless of their dimensions and shapes.","PeriodicalId":436679,"journal":{"name":"2019 ESA Workshop on Aerospace EMC (Aerospace EMC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131175174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present work has been carried out in the framework of ESA's study Pre-Verification of THOR Electro-Magnetic Cleanliness Approach. The test measurement setups are discussed and analyzed, along with the THOR mission requirements of both electric and magnetic field emissions. Moreover, the test results are evaluated for both transient and steady state operation of typical spacecraft units. This investigation is an essential part of the EM cleanliness, since its outcomes may be used in the development of methods for prediction of unit level AC magnetic & electric fields.","PeriodicalId":436679,"journal":{"name":"2019 ESA Workshop on Aerospace EMC (Aerospace EMC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125075341","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In areas prone to initial lightning attachment, such as the wingtips and the nose radome, additional protection in the form of solid metallic or segmented diverter strips is typically required. However, generating a realistic model geometry of a wingtip or a radome nose with full lightning protection is a significant task in its own right as the diverter strips and the simulation mesh need to be aligned onto a non-developable surface. The paper explores the use of geometric techniques for the spatial manipulation of three-dimensional objects in order to generate realistic aircraft nose radome models incorporating lightning protection features. These models are then used to explore the effectiveness of a lightning protection scheme when high voltage is directly injected into the radome nose.","PeriodicalId":436679,"journal":{"name":"2019 ESA Workshop on Aerospace EMC (Aerospace EMC)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116010476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This reverse transmission behaviour is based on measurements of an existing power supply unit. For further predictions of the reverse transmission behaviour of a complete system, consisting of a noisy load and a power supply unit, all submodules of the existing power supply are modelled and compared to the measurement results. This information enables the prediction of the residual differential conducted emissions of a known load after passing a power supply during the design phase of a system.","PeriodicalId":436679,"journal":{"name":"2019 ESA Workshop on Aerospace EMC (Aerospace EMC)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114296415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
