In the broader context of criticism levelled at qualitative research methods, all the phases related to data compilation and the phases of work done on the compiled material have been described and explained. An attempt has been made to use a specific example to point out all the principles which guide research and analysis, how researchers uses reflective research and the arguments in favor of certain choices, how systematicity is achieved, and to provide illustrations of the complexity and scientific relevance of research procedures in the creation of a highquality database. In addition, a discussion has been provided on the scientific basis of the entire process of database creation and the analytical procedures involved in working on it.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68777402","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We used data collected via questionnaire filled-in by 738 employees working in 283 different companies in the Republic of Srpska. Results indicate that there is a strong positive correlation between intrinsic rewards and job satisfaction. Furthermore, the results revealed that, among selected individual and organisational factors, only 3 factors - education level, managerial/non-managerial position and ownership structure of the company moderate the relationship between intrinsic rewards and job satisfaction in the selected sample.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68778389","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, society is turning to new initiatives that seek to address social and environmental problems. One of those initiatives is a social entrepreneurship that uses market forces to create social value. The paper presents the conceptual framework that answers the questions ?Do social enterprises exist because of the NPM flaws??. The comparison between the two phenomena has been made by following Drechsler?s analysis of NPM flaws. The results show a connection between virtues nurtured by social enterprises and shortcomings that diminished NPM.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68778469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the outset, the analytical framework links the social production of contemporary cities to processes of globalization and transnational migration, with a focus on post-socialist cities and Belgrade as the object of empirical research. The second part of the paper contains data analysis based on the 21 semi-structured interviews with middleclass transnational migrants who had lived and worked in Belgrade for at least a year at the time of the interviews, conducted in late 2018 and early 2019. The analysis focuses on the opinions of transnational migrants regarding housing and working conditions in Belgrade in comparison to their previous experiences; on daily routines and practices they can or cannot realize in Belgrade; and on the importance they attach to globally standardized places (such as international cafes, restaurants, shopping malls, etc.) as compared to locally specific equivalents. In the concluding section, seeking to examine whether the Belgrade entrepreneurial urban policy meets the expectations of these transnational actors, the key research findings are summarized in a manner accordant with the inputs they could provide for Belgrade?s urban development.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68778694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to their main practical purpose, qualitative applied policy research studies are used to legitimize public policy programs, social interventions, and initiatives. Compared to quantitative research, qualitative methods provide insight into the contextual and complex situational factors, which may be highly relevant for successful social interventions. Focus group interviews are commonly used in social interventions for data collection. Focus group interviews may contribute to a better articulation of implicit opinions and preferences, and enable triangulation based on multiple perspectives and information (beneficiaries, stakeholders). We argue that focus groups in public policy research and social interventions are based on the same methodological principles as focus groups in basic research, including sampling, facilitation, and ethical issues. Some modifications are necessary due to the main purpose of focus groups (the intervention), situational factors, and logistic fieldwork issues.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68777372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aims of the paper are exploration and interpretation of the positioning and meaning of motherhood within social biographies of the working-class single mothers. The intention is to study experience of single motherhood among young women with lower social-economic status by exploring how it is contextualised within structural, normative and institutional frameworks, as well as within relational and biographical contexts. The analysis proved the assumption that, although the position of motherhood within their life courses is similar, its meaning within their social biographies is different due to their different experience and subjectivities. In the concluding discussion, I argue for taking into account feelings as part of maternal experience, as well as to interpret agency as embedded in relational and biographical contexts within a young woman’s social biography.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68777708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

International findings show that having social support is crucial in coping with this experience. The main objective of this research was to examine the ways in which women rely on social support and the ways in which this shapes their experiences. After six semi-structured interviews with women who terminated their first pregnancy, their personal accounts were analyzed using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The role of significant others remains important during the whole experience but with qualitative shifts throughout the phases. In the earliest phases, other people could be perceived as a double threat - they could cause the feeling of shame or be an obstacle in the pregnancy termination. During and after the medical procedure, the need for social support becomes stronger and more complex, although in some cases it remains unmet. Most prominent social figures are mothers and romantic partners. Participants with responsive and supportive social surroundings coped more easily than others whose support is nonexistent or overly normalizing. Research contribution of this study is the analysis of personal accounts of women who had abortion. Practical contribution is raisin awareness of the importance of legitimization of complex and ambiguous feelings during abortion, both by significant others and health psychologists.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68777804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our study examines a month-long period following the first identified case, during which the government introduced preventative measures deemed to be some of the strictest in the world. Applying a news framing analysis to front page news of the three tabloid newspapers Alo, Informer, and Kurir (N = 387), our study identifies nine frames employed in the media reporting about the pandemic. Supplementing the framing analysis with an examination of the narrative roles of heroes, victims and villains in which different social actors are placed, we add to the nuanced understanding of the socio-cultural frames of reference in pandemic reporting. Our analysis establishes that the most prominent frames in the tabloid news stories on COVID-19 in Serbia are prevention and human-interest frames. It shows that the attribution of responsibility frame is used to present citizens as villains who undermine successful state measures, while China and Russia are portrayed as the heroes in the fight against are virus.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68778671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This community and its problems are often the cause of strong reactions in one part of society. Therefore, attitudes of the general population towards the LGBT community can be used for creating value orientations indicators. In this paper, we will show the importance of cognitive interviews in the assessment of such indicators. A cognitive interview allows us to methodologically investigate the validity of the questions (statements) used in the questionnaire. The indicator to which we have paid attention in this paper (?Gay men and lesbians should be free to live their life?) is a good example of what role a cognitive interview can have in sociological research. By using the cognitive interview, it is possible to explore the different meanings that respondents attach to specific statements or specific terms. As such, the method also points to ?unexpected? meanings that the researchers did not have in mind.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68777631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to contribute to the development of migration studies in Serbia, but also methodological discussions in general, the purpose of this paper is to shed some light on the biographical method that is most often defined as qualitative research approach and has obtained great importunacy within migration studies. The paper first gives an overview of the development of methodology used in the exploration of migration, after which it focuses on the characteristics of biographical method. The benefits of usage of this approach are presented on the material collected by author of this paper during her research with economically active female emigrants from Serbia, who lived in France and Germany.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68777345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
