Basic evidence for this methodological analysis is consisted by Vladan Vidicki`s and Snezana Stojsin`s article and Zivan Ristic`s book devoted to this topic. Vidicki and Stojsin are critics of methodological dogmatism related to rival approach. Their comprehension is analyzed in the first and second sections of the paper. Third section deals with Ristic`s criticism of methodological eclecticism. Forth part of the paper explores particular issue of relations of quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods approach to different paradigms. In the conclusion is stated that division among qulatitative, quantitative and mixed methods approach is artificial and disadvantageous. It is emphasized that the division embarrasses the development of sociological theory and that its focusing to the role of research objectives is related to social reformism.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68781010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Starting from the hypothesis that positive youth development (PYD) qualities such as aspects of eudaimonic well-being lead to higher youth life satisfaction (the hedonic aspect of well-being), we explored predictions of Serbian youth life satisfaction based on the Five Cs on a sample of 215 Belgrade secondary school students (34.9% male students). The research results show that: the youth were mostly satisfied with their friends, their living environment, themselves, and their families, and least satisfied with their school; the Five Cs variables explain the highest percentage of variance in youth satisfaction with the family, and the lowest for satisfaction with the living environment; higher impacts on domain-specific life satisfaction were observed for connection (self-satisfaction, satisfaction with the family and school), confidence (satisfaction with the family and school), and caring (satisfaction with the living environment, school and friends), while competence only predicted self-safisfaction. Providing support for PYD promotion leads to greater satisfaction with different aspects of youth development ecology.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68781219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the first part of the paper presents ideas and practices initiated by the Covid 19 pandemic regarding (re)conceptualization of urban mobility and (re)organization of urban spaces in searching for more sustainable and resilient solutions, in Europe and the developed world. Secondly, the analysis addresses ecological modernization and the entrepreneurial (smart) city models as conceptual frames that limit considerably the approach to urban sustainability and resilience, both in general and in a pandemic context. The concluding part highlights the missing political will and economic interest to deal with the pandemic as an opportunity to reset existing urban policies/measures and seek to balance the economic, social and ecological dimensions of urban development. By employing critical sociological thinking on contemporary cities, the authors emphasize the need to recognize social and environmental justice issues in urban sustainability discourse and practice.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68781098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Before the empirical analysis itself, a theoretical contribution to the debate surrounding the elusiveness of the concept of neoliberalism is given. The paper recommends that the different conceptualizations of this term should be described as aspects of a broader process of class rule through disempowerment. Following Harvey?s approach, this meta-process is defined as neoliberalization. Harvey?s elements of neoliberalization (privatization and commodification; financialization; the management and manipulation of crises; state redistribution) are thus expanded by three further elements: the neoliberal intellectual project, ideology and the cultural regime. In based on this theoretical framework neoliberal changes in education and relationships between them are analyzed. Ways in which these changes contribute towards the restoration of class power is shown.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135839615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Participants were 303 young people (78% girls), roughly equally divided between high school and university students (51% vs. 49%) aged 15 to 30 (Mage = 19.5, SD = 3.50). An online survey was conducted with a convenient sample. Two scales were used in the research: Experiences in Close Relationships and Excessive Internet Use, as well as questions about experiences on the Internet. The results show that youth are more likely to build and maintain close friendships through live interaction, despite their frequent use of social technologies. A quarter of respondents do not have a single friend with whom they mainly socialize online, while half have at most two online friends. Online friendships are more common among high school students. Most young people do not feel anxious in their relationships with offline and online friends; avoidance is significantly stronger in their relationships with online friends. The strongest predictors of attachment to online friends are attachment to offline friends and feeling personally safe online. When interpreting the obtained findings, one should bear in mind the limitations arising from the characteristics of the sample (it is not representative and gender-balanced).","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135839870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, others warn that these pro-environmental changes may have only been temporary and that negative effects could outweigh the positive ones. In this paper, we examine whether the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced pro-environmental changes in the lifestyle and consumer habits of students in Croatia. The research was conducted between the end of 2020 and the start of 2021, using an online survey method, with a convenience sampling of N=1245 students from three Croatian Universities in Osijek, Split, and Zagreb. We looked at a range of lifestyle and consumer habits, such as mobility, shopping frequency and extent, food self-provisioning, as well as recycling and household savings, to see whether there were significant changes that can be classified as environmentally friendly. The results show that the pandemic did not have a significant long-term effect on pro-environmental behavior (PEB). Those who practiced PEB before the pandemic continued to do so, primarily motivated by environmental worldview and prioritizing environmental protection. For others, there were either no changes in PEB during the pandemic, or it was only short-term, connected to the limiting circumstances of the pandemic on their usual lifestyle.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68781186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our theoretical framework will be based on the conceptual apparatus of a theoretical and research field known as ?governmentality theory?. By using this apparatus, we will define terms like neoliberalism, therapy culture and self-help culture and complement them with certain concepts that will adjust those definitions for studying postsocialist contexts. We will test this theoretical framework by using it to analyze existing research on therapy culture and self-help culture in postsocialist societies of Eastern Europe. In the conclusion we will, based on this analysis, present the perceived advantages and disadvantages of our theoretical framework.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68781244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Enthusiastically promoted in the media, the Tour eventually failed after several participants, including Djokovic himself, tested positive for the new coronavirus. The Tour fell under heavy criticism, especially in world media, while locally it reignited the Serbian-Croatian national rivalry, dividing the public into pro and contra Djokovic?s behaviour during the pandemic. Drawing on the theoretical platforms of the sociology of sport and nationalism studies, I here problematise the role of a world-leading athlete in the Covid-19 pandemic context, primarily focusing on the reconstruction of the discourses produced on the actual Tour and the fact that Djokovic was infected. Pointing to the ways public figures shape the discourses on pandemics, I also address the role of sociology and cognate disciplines in dealing with the sport as a theoretical issue during the pandemic. I argue that the Adria tour was both an attempt to make a difference in the pandemic world and a means of escapism. It reproduced most of the narratives present in Serbia and Croatia, thus eventually appearing to be a sort of cathartic experience. After the phase of fear and chaos, dealing with the pandemic required recreating the community through the institution of sport and sportspersons.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135838657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Education through debate, as a distinctive form of non-formal education, is thus becoming an integral part of young people?s lives. The development of critical thinking, heightened selfesteem, improved rhetoric, organizational prowess, effective presentation, and argumentation abilities, along with the fostering of citizenship, play a pivotal role in aiding underprivileged youth to become more constructive contributors to their communities. These proficiencies and goals, demonstrated within this paper, exemplify the diverse skill set that debate fosters. This paper brings the results of a qualitative study conducted across four countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Poland, and the Netherlands) regarding the advantages of debate. It offers empirical evidence that one of the ways to have responsible, conscious, aware, vigilant, and selfconfident citizens is by incorporating debate in their (non)formal education.","PeriodicalId":43515,"journal":{"name":"Sociologija","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135838912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
