Education to caregivers about feeding practice aims to support children with CP to be able to eat and drink safely and efficiently. Feeding practice about diet, food consistency, food variety, and appropriate eating and drinking utensils for children with CP can support their functional ability in receiving food and drinks. The method used was the scoping review of articles obtained from PUBMED, Science Direct, and Google Scholar database. The articles obtained were then selected using the article selection diagram. This review focused on feeding practice educational intervention for caregivers to support the eating and drinking ability of children with CP. The results showed that the caregivers’ knowledge and skills in carrying out the feeding practice could increase the safety, time efficiency, and eating and drinking ability of children with CP.","PeriodicalId":434512,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117005629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study refers to several recent journals in the form of systematic analysis as studies supporting the issues to be debated in this concept paper. The findings show that teachers do not have sufficient knowledge and skills in screening of pupil of who are at risk of disabilities. This leads to an unhealthy attitude in conducting screening method. The findings also identify the types of screening performed by teachers through the checklist and test adapted from abroad. Ministry of Education (MOE) may take approaches and initiatives to provide courses for teachers on speech and occupational in performing screening. Furthermore, MOE can also place therapist and interventionist officials in schools as one of the steps to realize the initial screening of disability based in the Zero Reject Policy. Positive acceptance from parents affects teachers in implementing the screening of pupil of who are at risk of disabilities. At the same time, reducing the risk of disability and increasing the preschooler’s readiness going to school later.","PeriodicalId":434512,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region","volume":"296 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126021183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to analyze the learning trajectory of mentally retarded students based on constructivism theory. Through a qualitative approach with the natural observation method. The instruments used in this study were observation sheets, interviews, and documentation. From the three results, the data will be validated through a technical triangulation process to obtain research findings. This study involved three students from the 6th grade with mental retardation who obtained some learning trajectories in the multiplication operation. The first learning trajectory is carried out through the process of repeated addition according to the number being multiplied, even though conceptually it is incorrect. Second, use the stake (turus system) to write down the unit place, and last, use the stake (turus system) to write down the value of the whole number. In constructivism, mentally retarded students can build their own ideas to solve multiplication operations according to their own learning trajectories. The results of this study can be implicated in the learning process and as a hypothetical learning trajectory for mentally retarded students.","PeriodicalId":434512,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126176306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various initiatives have been set by the ministry for the benefit of students with special educational need's future, such as the expansion of students with special educational need's Career Transition Program. This study aims to discuss the application of entrepreneurial skills in Career Transition Program among students with special educational needs (SEN). This study uses a qualitative approach, which is a method of structured interviews, observations and document analysis. The study sample is a total of four special educational teachers who teach vocational subjects. The findings of this study show that there are four elements of entrepreneurial skills that are applied to students with special educational need, especially with learning disabilities, which are the skills to produce products, the skills to market products, the skills to do business and communicate and the skills to calculate costs. Most individuals with special needs can perform productively if given the knowledge and skills through an appropriate educational program.","PeriodicalId":434512,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114643371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Slow learners generally fail to understand basic lessons and concepts in academics, such as reading, writing, mathematics and language. This is because the above processes require a fairly complicated cognition process. So in overcoming obstacles to learning to read at the beginning of slow learners, a reading technique is needed that suits the needs of children. One of the reading techniques that can be used is the Montessori technique which is based on the Montessori method.The objectives of this study are as follows: (1) Knowing the stages of the process of developing an initial reading program for slow learners with Montessori techniques (2) Knowing the feasibility of developing an initial reading program for slow learners with Montessori techniques. The research method used in this study is a mixed research method. The final product of this study resulted in a beginning reading learning program with Montessori techniques consisting of products: (1) initial reading identification and assessment format (2) Learning program plan (3) Guidebook for teachers (4) Student worksheets (5) Module on Montessori reading techniques that have been modified for slow learner children. Based on research findings, data analysis and theoretical discussion, it can be concluded that the application of the beginning reading program in slow learners with Montessori techniques is feasible because it suits the needs of children and is able to improve initial reading skills. This program also helps teachers to know the stages of making individual learning programs for students with special needs.","PeriodicalId":434512,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123935124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Integrated Special Education Teachers play an important role in planning appropriate special education services for MBPK through the writing of quality IEPs based on the content of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This study was conducted to examine the level of knowledge of Integrated Special Education Teachers in developing a quality IEP based on 2 main components, namely 1) information about MBPK and 2) accommodation and modifications for Student with SEN. The design of this study is a quantitative study in which the study sample consists of 112 Integrated Special Education Teachers in the category of secondary school learning problems who teach in 14 schools in Hulu Langat district, Selangor. The Q-IEP instrument, which is a questionnaire with a 3-point Likert scale for 3 sections with 20 closed-ended question items, has been descriptively analyzed using the software Statistic Package For Social Science (SPSS) version 26. The findings of the study show that the quality of IEP writing is still at a worrying level because The information component about IEP is written incompletely. While the level of knowledge for general pedagogical knowledge is also at a moderate level regarding the accommodation and modification components. Nevertheless, the construction of instruments such as checklists, procedures and IEP production modules as well as training and courses are among the suggestions put forward to help Integrated Special Education Teachers improve their knowledge in IEP.","PeriodicalId":434512,"journal":{"name":"Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116616633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
