The aim of the study is to compare the changes of the optical power absorption per unit volume between shaving and non shaving hair on the skin surface and to demonstrate the effect of shaving of the skin surface on power absorption by Advanced System Analysis Program (ASAP) techniques. The method is performed to create hair on the skin surface and also by laser sources. Comparisons of optical power absorption have been performed between the samples of skin before and after shaving hair using the deviation and ratio of absorption power in each layer. Furthermore, the shape of Gaussian-profile in stratum corneum and epidermal layer has been compared, respectively. A power absorption of a laser increase in transmittance and decrease in diffuse reflectance occurred within a stratum corneum on the skin surface after applying shaved hair of skin. This indicates that the shaving of hair on the skin surface will have an effect on the efficacy of laser transmission as well as on the shape of the laser beam.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":43409,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery-JDDS","volume":"19 1","pages":"Pages 36-42"},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1016/j.jssdds.2013.10.001","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80782790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
