It covers both static properties and dynamic behavior of Web services. Most researches deal with compatibility issue in the context of static checking. In this paper, we use a formal method, say CCS, to describe dynamic behavior of Web services. The formalization brings us the capability of reasoning on the dynamic aspects. We discuss compatibility at different levels so that we can clarify the impacts of it on composition and substitution of Web services. We also pay attention to context-independent substitutability which is useful in practice.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130491924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system consists of the data storage, information search module, document collection module, data merge module and recommend module. These new modules are different from the existing modules that have been using in the current Web. These new modules are suitable for the semantic Web environment. Especially, in this paper, we focus on the RDF that is one of the ontology languages. And all modules are newly designed for processing the RDF triple. Finally, we have the test to give the necessity of our study in the virtual semantic Web environment.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123513651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The systems using clustering provide the grouped information to the users. The complex metadata description generated on the basis of predefined ontologies serve as perfect input data for clustering. In this paper, we propose an approach for clustering ontology based metadata. Main contribution of this paper is the definition of evaluation function to measure ontology based metadata and study using this evaluation function within hierarchical clustering algorithm.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123799401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This automation can take place only if a formal semantic description of the Web-services is available. In this paper we present the design of USDL (Universal Service Description Language), a language for formally describing the semantics of information utilized and produced by Web-services. USDL is based on the Web ontology language (OWL) and employs WordNet as a common basis for understanding the meaning of services. USDL can be regarded as formal program documentation that will allow sophisticated conceptual modeling and searching of available Web-services, automated service composition, and other forms of automated service integration. The preliminary design of USDL is presented, along with examples, and its formal semantics given.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121806146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It leads to the learning objects orientation as well as to partnerships among institutions to promote sharing of these objects. In order to allow local autonomy and less local effort when participating of this global environment, we developed LORIS, an integration system of learning objects' repositories. This system is based on the mediators and wrappers architecture, implemented through Web-services. Our approach allows local autonomy and also an interoperable integrated view. LORIS is being adopted by PGL, an international partnership project for promoting Web-based education.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130498027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"TWSO — Transactional Web Service Orchestrations","authors":"Peter Hrastnik, W. Winiwarter","doi":"10.1109/NWESP.2005.79","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/NWESP.2005.79","url":null,"abstract":"Software industry responded to the need for transactions in the Web service world by publishing several proposals, that are quite alike. These proposals define basically communication protocols that indirectly implement advanced transaction models. However, the rather obvious question \"How can I use transactions in Web service orchestrations?\" is not covered anywhere satisfyingly. The use of arbitrary advanced transaction models is provided by some of the proposals, but likely requires an update of various transaction system components. This paper introduces TWSO (Transactional Web Service Orchestrations), an approach to integrate transactional processing with Web service orchestrations. It tries to overcome the hassles stated above and provides an XML vocabulary (TWSOL) that is intended to be incorporated in Web service orchestrations. The usage pattern of TWSO is designed to resemble the programming pattern used when nowadays application developers use transaction-enabled components like databases or application servers. Moreover, arbitrary advanced transaction models can be synthesized by using a set of transaction building blocks without the demand for system-updates.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130855049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Business process execution language (BPEL) is a promising language describing the Web services composition in form of business processes, but lack of a sound formal semantic, which hinders the formal analysis and verification of business processes specified in it. This paper presents the transformation of BPEL to colored Petri nets (CP-nets) in a constructive way. Therefore we can translate composition specified in BPEL into CP-nets, which can be analyzed and verified by many specialized tools. So we make tool support available for verifying BPEL composition.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134638672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However; the current technological framework supporting information sharing and collaboration along the supply chain has a number of limitations, such as the extensive IT restructuring needed for integrating partner information systems and the high cost inherent in the development and deployment of complex collaboration solutions per se. In this paper we suggest a new technological approach for supporting CPFR practices and further suggest an innovative system implementation based entirely on open-source technologies. Our developed prototype facilitates the process of exchanging partner predictions via a host of different operating devices (PC, PDAs, cellphones). The system's backend is supported by various Web-services for automating information flow and collaboration through a supply network.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"194 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124925169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The protocol implements a voting mechanism embedded into the RDF data itself using a mixed initiative design for notification. This is implemented as extensions to an ontology browser called OntoRama. The P2P approach is compared to the classic ontology editing approaches and the special requirements of the ontology editing environment are discussed.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128072883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
