It is seen in the past, a lot of services were being provided by them-either in manual mode or online in the digital era but Covid19 disease has completely changed the scenario. It is not sure how long it will take time to become normal and as per WHO and other sources, we have to live with it for a long time. So, it is expected that academic libraries will also have to reform their services and environment to provide services in the post Covid-19 environment. This paper suggests some measures that can be fruitful to cope with the effect of Covid-19 and to sustain the libraries in post Covid-19 era.","PeriodicalId":433348,"journal":{"name":"Pearl: A Journal of Library and Information Science","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122884342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, a total of 137 articles of Webology are covered for the period of 2004–2015. The time-lag of 137 between received and acceptance is on an average 85.4% days for each article. A good number of articles, which accounts 80.3% got published in the same month of articles accepted, and only 19.7% articles are having lag of time for publication after acceptance; indeed, this is a good development for the scholarly community. The paper reports the research study, which examined the accessibility of continuing education events by academic librarians in Nigeria. The study adopted the case study method using academic librarians in Imo State, South–East, Nigeria. Data were analysed using percentages and frequency counts. The results show that academic librarians in Nigeria appreciate the value of continuing education, but their access to such events is limited by inadequate institutional sponsorship and insufficiency of personal finances among other factors. To improve access to continuing education events, the study recommends better funding of the institutions by their sponsoring bodies, higher personal sacrifices on the part of the academic librarians, joint organisation of continuing education programmes by cooperating academic libraries and amendment of the restrictive policy guiding access to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) intervention fund for staff development.","PeriodicalId":433348,"journal":{"name":"Pearl: A Journal of Library and Information Science","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126044096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given this reality, it becomes necessary to investigate the acquisition and utilisation of ICT skills by library professionals in some Nigerian academic libraries. The study was a descriptive survey research type. Questionnaire was used to collect data from a sample of 160 library professionals. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics (percentages). The study revealed that acquisition of ICT skills is imperative to its utilisation. The study also revealed that epileptic power supply was the greatest challenge of ICT in Nigerian academic libraries. Recommendations made among others include that the management of University libraries should attend to the problem of epileptic power supply by ensuring either a standby generator or inverters or solar power to ensure the continuity of work in the case of power outage and they should endeavour to provide adequate fund for the acquisition of appropriate ICTs.","PeriodicalId":433348,"journal":{"name":"Pearl: A Journal of Library and Information Science","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129438971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Development of OSS based on the sharing and collaborative improvement of software source code has a history that is essentially as long as software development itself. Open source initiative was formed in 1998 as an educational, advocacy and stewardship organisation at an important moment in the history of OSS and collaborative development. This study is aimed to study the different OSS of library digitisation in engineering college libraries of Karnataka, to Study the nature and type of open source digital library software used in engineering college libraries of Karnataka and to Study the areas of application of OSS in engineering college libraries of Karnataka. The investigation has conducted a survey among 147 engineering college librarians in the state of Karnataka on the above matters. The results are discussed under the categories such as status of library automation and digitisation, use of automation and digital library software, management of IT and network requirement of library, own digital library/institutional repository software, involvement in installation of OSS, involvement in installation of OSS, potential areas of adopting OSS in library and duration of OSS implementation in library.","PeriodicalId":433348,"journal":{"name":"Pearl: A Journal of Library and Information Science","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130851042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
