The main objective of the controller is to maximize the captured wind energy with reduced oscillations on the drive train. At below rated wind speed, the control input is the generator torque that depends on the reference rated speed which is derived from the effective wind speed. Furthermore, the uncertainties and external disturbances is the main design problem of controller. In order to overcome this problem, Backstepping integral Sliding Mode Control approach (BISMC) is proposed in this study; the control performance of BISMC was compared with Integral Sliding Mode Control (ISMC) through different wind speed profiles. Compared to the existing controllers, the effectiveness of the proposed controller is shown with simulations.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"60 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125930106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The word synchronized is used to specify that the maintenance starts at the same time on both machines. The problem is denoted as F2/nr — pm/Cmax. First, we investigate a time-indexed formulation for the problem. Then, a lower bound was proposed using Lagrangian relaxation. Computational study shows satisfactory results.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127087568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) present ones of the fundamental electromagnetic (EM) design automations through numerical optimizations which become nowadays ubiquitous in various modeling fields such as microwave engineering. Accordingly, this paper provides for the Ku microwave band (12–18 GHz), a new design of a patch antenna based on SIW technology using a tree-dimensional electromagnetic (EM) simulation based on structured supervised learning alternative to neural networks to provide accurate geometric dimensions for the target requirements. The SIW patch antenna is designed to operate in Ku frequency band and resonate at 16.10 GHz. The optimized antenna shows very low return losses of less than −10dB to −19dB for the selective band resulting in good performance. ANN algorithms implemented for the training process present than a reliable tool of estimating the antenna performance to provide precise geometrical dimensions with the specific requirements.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130877173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These algorithms have proven to be effective in the comparative study made in previous studies [1] [2], although, it did not include the constraints that a signal can be subjected to. In this context we evaluated the two DOA estimation algorithms, based on four criterias: high frequency, correlated signal, closely spaced sources and noise detection. ROOT-WSF algorithm provides the most accurate results for detecting the angle of arrival under this hard condition.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129260196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The improved antenna reduces the height and can realize good bandwidth performance; it has low cost, simple structure, and flexible characteristics. The novel elliptical antenna was bent on a cylindrical surface which once more reduces the space in term of larger of the antenna; good performances were achieved compared to flat elliptical one: a directional radiation pattern at all frequencies band and an increasing gain were obtained. The impedance bandwidth, radiation pattern and peak gain, of the antennas, are studied and presented, they have been investigated using simulation software CST and experimental results. The measured and simulated results showed excellent agreement. Our aim is to design a new state feedback control in specific Finite Frequency (FF) domains. Using the well known generalized Kalman Yakubovich Popov (gKYP) lemma, sufficient conditions for the existence of state feedback control for different FF ranges are proposed and then unified in terms of solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Illustrative example is provided to show the usefulness and potential of the proposed results.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134378599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This modified configuration has been tested with different particle size and concentration. Sedimentation efficiency was evaluated by calculation of trap efficiency. Results show that changing inlet and outlet location increase hydraulic performance of the tank. Flow field showed his sensitivity to suspension concentration when inlet and outlet are in the middle of the tank. However inlet and outlet location improve sedimentation efficiency, especially for fine particles. The present model is confirmed by experimentation measurement in Swiss conducted by the Laboratory of Hydraulic Construction of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115095675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main objective of this work is to design, and implement supervision systems to schedule the power delivery of proposed microgrid. Two approaches are performed, the first based on petri nets (PN) formalism, and the second using fuzzy logic system. A comparative study of the performance of each management system is performed taking into account operating cost optimization, meeting energy needs and grid supply limitation. The results show that the fuzzy logic approach ensures optimal operating system with considerably minimization in unsatisfied power and operating cost.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114343447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In radar application, sequences with low autocorrelation side lobe energies are necessary to reduce the noise and to increase the ability of radars to detect multiple targets. In the literature, several techniques have been proposed to solve the LABS problem. For short length sequences, local search algorithms can be applied as the search space is manageable. For this reason, this article proposes to use two known local search algorithm: TS (tabu search) and SA (simulated annealing). These algorithms were be applied to find an optimal value of the register that generates an MLS sequence. With this implementation, we have obtained better results, we have found a higher value of merit factor compared with without optimization.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"122 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121951132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
