Forty-four SCC, selected using the criterion sampling method, participated in a mixed-method design study by taking a one-week online cyber identity course. The online version of the Computer Technology Integration Survey (CTIS) was used as a pre and post-test measure to collect quantitative data. Two subscales are used in the survey to measure the self-efficacy of participants. Qualitative data was collected through the use of a structured interview form which included open-ended questions regarding the social, cognitive, and teaching presence of the community of inquiry model. T-tests were conducted to detect any significant differences between the pre and post-test scores of the CTIS subscales. The results of these tests revealed that the online cyber identity course created significant differences in both SCC’s self-efficacy perception of the computer technology capabilities and strategies, and the external influences of computer technology uses. Moreover, qualitative analysis results showed that students reflected more on cognitive and teaching presence than on social presence.","PeriodicalId":432949,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Educational Technology and Online Learning","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123843087","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research was performed by experimental design. Dependent variables of the research were near and far transfer performances. Independent variable was strategy instruction on encoding. Also recalling performance was included in the research as a control variable. Research data were gathered with a transfer test containing 18 multiple-choice items. The experimental study was performed with 67 students with a medium level of recalling performance. The students were randomly assigned to experimental group I (strategy instruction+integrated content), experimental group II (strategy intruction+non-integrated content), and control group (non-integrated content). The results of this research indicated that encoding strategy instruction is essential for the transfer of learning in e-learning environments. However, it is more effective when e-learning design is integrated with encoding strategies. Therefore, it is suggested that semantic encoding strategies should be integrated into the content when designing an e-learning environments.","PeriodicalId":432949,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Educational Technology and Online Learning","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114677801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To do this, 162 articles published between January 2012 and February 2020 in 30 international journals indexed in SSCI were analyzed with a systematic review method using the \"Educational Technology Publication Classification Form\" as a data collection tool. The results revealed that most of the studies in this field were conducted in the USA and Turkey. The number of these studies has increased since 2015, and those studies were carried out using quantitative research methodology. Mostly questionnaires and achievement tests were used as a data collection tool, a convenience sampling method was used, and descriptive analyses were adopted to analyze the data. As a result, the articles examined in this study showed that programming education positively contributes to learners' learning and success levels and the development of their computational thinking skills. We believe that these results will shed light on future studies related to programming education.","PeriodicalId":432949,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Educational Technology and Online Learning","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126781785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Readiness for e-learning refers to the degree of having pre-knowledge and skills, and affective characteristics such as the necessary attitude and motivation to experience this process most effectively. Academic orientations of the students also contribute to their perception of the quality of the learning process in online learning environments. Furthermore, e-learning creates a learner-centered learning approach that might be contrived to personal goal orientations. Hence this study aims to identify the relationship between achievement goal orientations and the e-learning readiness level of the students. Data were collected from 457 university students enrolled in a public university in Turkey. The University Students’ E-learning readiness Scale and 2X2 achievement goal orientation scale were used as the data collection tools. A canonical correlation analysis (CCA) was performed to analyze the data. This study revealed that there is a statistically significant relationship between e-learning readiness and achievement goal orientations of the students. Three of the four canonical correlations were statistically significant which indicates that variables' linear combinations were related.","PeriodicalId":432949,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Educational Technology and Online Learning","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130927056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. Convenience sampling method was used in the selection of the participants. The participants were selected on the criteria that they conducted live lessons through distance education platforms and worked at a public school during the pandemic. The data of the study were collected through an interview form prepared by the researchers. The data collection instrument consists of two parts. The first part consisted of questions related to demographic information of the participants. The second part of the form included questions to determine teachers' views on distance education. The data of the study were analyzed with a computer-assisted qualitative data analysis program. The participants stated that distance education has the advantages in terms of communication, flexibility in time and place, high number of participats, and economy. On the other hand, they stated that distance education has limitations in terms of technological reasons, limited active learning, socio-economic reasons, receiving instant feedback, supervision and control, and disadvantaged groups' inability to benefit. Although it was concluded that the participants considered themselves sufficient to manage the distance education process effectively, it was determined that the teachers did not receive any in-service training in order to plan, implement and evaluate the distance education processes. In this context, the participants stated that they want to receive in-service training on the use of Web 2.0 tools, live lesson management, distance education planning training, infrastructure training, presentation techniques. The participants offered suggestions to teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders about the solutions of the problems they experienced.","PeriodicalId":432949,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Educational Technology and Online Learning","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125448667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, all educational establishments have been expected to finish the 2019-20 spring semester online. Despite the significance of distance education, it appears that online education has not assisted architecture education adequately. This is due to the fact that it has higher learning objectives, is taught via coaching approaches, and incorporates nonverbal communication. Architects are trained through a method focused on the ‘studio course’. In this environment, students’ decisions are unintentionally affected by the unanticipated backtalk and discussions that arise from the design development process. In other words, criticism, which is a graphic and oral communication between the students and the instructor, is one of the most frequent learning strategies utilized in the design studio. The pedagogically distinctive implications of digital design have prompted the need for new educational frameworks in architecture. Thus, the primary aim of this study is to monitor and document current trends, benefits, and limitations of online architectural discourse and learning ecosystems from both students’ and tutors’ perspectives. It also investigates alternative pedagogical agendas in order to address the requirement to integrate different levels of students with online education. In this regard, the effects of the design medium, knowledge-based or theoretical courses, and practical courses are three common types of influences on educational system adaptability and inertia. Finally, in this research, authors attempt to formulate a theoretical framework and didactic principles for the modification of architectural online education by using multiple methods of data collection, primarily based on a systematic observation of the experiments, questioning the participants before and after the experiment, and evaluate of the descriptive results of the experiment.","PeriodicalId":432949,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Educational Technology and Online Learning","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132845376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
