The purpose of this work is to present a dynamic model to study the effect of insulator configuration, equivalent salt deposit density, non-soluble deposit density as well as air pressure on DC flashover voltage of polluted porcelain insulators. As a result of low air pressure, the arc deviates from the surface of insulators with bending and rocking, shortening the arc distance. The computed results of the dynamic model were compared with the experimental results of previous researchers; the average error was 2.85%, showing a very good correlation between them.","PeriodicalId":432404,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP)","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115055732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is observed that at constant electron emission energy of 1.0 eV, for a given E/N the escape factor decreases as B/N increases. It is also observed that in the lower E/N range in crossed fields the escape factor is smaller than those of the higher E/N range. The escape factor on the magnetic deflection angle is evaluated and a dependence on the magnetic field is observed in crossed fields in the given ranges of E/N and B/N.","PeriodicalId":432404,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132798683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the vegetable insulating oil is increasingly used in transformers while its physical and chemical properties are different from those of mineral oil, special attention should be paid to the influence of particles on its dielectric strength. This paper investigated the influence of nonmetallic particles, namely carbon particles and cellulose particles on the breakdown strength of vegetable insulating oil. The breakdown voltages of vegetable insulating oil and mineral insulating oil contaminated with carbon particles or cellulose particles of different sizes and particle numbers were measured, respectively. The relationships between the breakdown voltages and particle numbers were obtained. The experiment results showed that the breakdown strengths of the vegetable insulating oil decrease with the increase of the particle number, and the breakdown voltages and the denary logarithm of particle numbers approximately satisfy the linear correlation, which is the same for mineral insulating oil. More importantly, the vegetable insulating oil is less sensitive to the particles compared to mineral insulating oil in terms of breakdown voltage, which might be due to its higher viscosity. Therefore, different standard of particle limit should be established for vegetable insulating oil.","PeriodicalId":432404,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125883062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A standard type of impregnated paper and different polymeric films (made of PET, PTFE and PVDF) are selected as solid materials immersed in mineral oil. The effect of the solid material on the streamer propagation along the interface formed with transformer oil is studied. Streamer velocities classified as first mode propagation point cathode are reported. Voltage gradient of the streamer channel and its stopping voltage are calculated for all the cases. Comparison of streamer charge and stopping length propagation are reported.","PeriodicalId":432404,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130295712","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results show that, after long-term thermal ageing process, the injection barrier of both electrons and holes is lowered, the overall trap depth is shallower and electron trap density becomes much greater. Outdoor composite insulators used in transmission lines are typically made of two solid polymeric materials bonded together to form the insulator. Work reported here contributes to the evaluation of degradation within internal interfaces by developing tests to investigate interfacial tracking, with a view to replicating the tracking phenomena seen within composite insulators in service. The present paper highlights high voltage tests on dielectric interfaces with needle electrodes generating local high fields to initiate tracking. FEA has been used to design an experiment with controlled electric field magnitudes over a 1 m sample. Moreover, information from monitoring partial discharges and surface temperature is used to understand the inception and propagation of tracking activity within the structure.","PeriodicalId":432404,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115192464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most chemo drugs aim any one of these receptors to treat TNBC. Since all the three receptors are lacking, it is very difficult to treat this disease. In addition, due to the nature of these cells, they also are partially insensitive to many chemo drugs. It is of practical interest to treat them with alternative and physical therapies, possibly with no drugs, knowing the extent of damages/side effects caused by the chemo drugs and one potential candidate is irreversible electroporation-use of electrical pulses to ablate the tissue with no drugs. Since no drugs are used and only electrical pulses are involved, it is an attractive alternative for especially those cases, where current standard of cure for cancer, including surgery, chemo, radio, and hormone therapies do not work. In this research, we studied the efficacy of electrical pulses in reducing the proliferation of MDA-MB-231, human, triple negative breast cancer cells using various numbers of pulse intensities and found them to be effective.","PeriodicalId":432404,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125572243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cationic and anionic nanoparticles were adsorbed either directly onto wood fibres or using the layer-by-layer (LbL) technique where silica nanoparticles and a polyelectrolyte of opposite charge were adsorbed in consecutive layers. It was shown that it is possible to tailor the dielectric and mechanical properties of kraft paper by utilizing the pH-dependence of the charge density of both the nanoparticles and the polyelectrolyte during the build-up of layers onto wood fibres. With only one layer of cationic silica nanoparticles, 6.0 wt% of nanoparticles were adsorbed at pH 6, leading to almost complete coverage of the wood fibre surface, resulting in a paper with low dielectric losses and improved inplane tensile properties.","PeriodicalId":432404,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128166851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Individual vented tree configurations are modeled under Comsol Multiphysics environment. To understand the mechanism of involved phenomena, an evaluation of the electric field distribution is carried out. The influence parameters adopted in this investigation are: the permittivity, the length of the water trees and the magnitude of the space charges. The results of investigation showed that, in the absence of space charges, water trees lead to a local increase (respectively decrease) of the electric field in the outside (respectively inside) areas of these trees. However, the accumulation of space charges induces a significant variation of electric field inside and outside the trees and in the volume of insulation. In fact, the electric field repartition depends on the magnitude of space charge density and space charge layer dimension. According to this repartition, the dynamic movement of the space charges is evoked.","PeriodicalId":432404,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125250802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
